My friends and I went to Sandyholme on the bank holiday weekend in August last year and had a fantastic time. It was so good, we are going back this weekend. We did not want a hook-up and hence got a prime spot in the lower field (well we had the whole field to choose from). We were also worried that we may be a bit over excited and disturb people (8 girls). However, we found that we all went to bed before the other campers, but the noise was not too bad and you have to give a little when you are camping. The shower and toilet blocks were more than adequate and clean and tidy. We had to wait for a bit on one morning, but we made our own entertainment and it added to the trip. We took a trip into Weymouth which was lovely, ice cream on the beach, pint in the pub(s). Overall the weekend was so much fun. People have to remember they are camping and not staying at a 5* hotel. We have even managed to get a few more people on this trip as they heard how much fun we had. (and we all cant wait)

My parents arrived a day before we did they were really disappointed with the layout of the site, it was so busy tents and caravans were virtually touching I am sure there is some legal law regarding this. The toilets were dirtry to say the least with loo paper all over the floor and no visible soap. Owners seem to realise that site was over crowded and didnt have anything else to offer. A real shame this could be a gem of a site

We had three days at this site, and probably would go back there. The down side is that our pitch was quite small (we have hertford xxl). What we didn't see until well after we'd pitched up was a perfect couple of fields for camping at the site. It was a bit too late to do anything about it though. We just spent three days going "if only". Great site to get to Weymouth, which has a fantastic beach, and sea life centre, also lots of other attractions near by. Had to queue on one day for the showers, but that was probably down to me being a bit lazy. They do however have a family bathroom, operated by a key and fiver deposit. Nice idea, but often v busy and no real space to put clothes, so be prepared. Generally good, would go back, and the owners seemed very friendly and helpful. Hope this helps !

I've stayed at this site twice in the last 3 weeks and find it an excellent site! The only time i've had to queue for the Toilets was yesterday at 11.30 when they were being cleaned! Cant have it both ways! They were kept clean and although not as modern as some they are free! The hook up pitches are very close together and right next to the Toilets! You also have to pass through them to drive to the Tent field as well! As I didn't have a hook up it didn't matter to me! The Tent field is huge! when we arrived the site was turning people away as they were full! upon reaching the field there was loads of space! (we even played Cricket there) Its good to see a site keeping to sensible numbers and not looking for the extra revenue! The site has a well stocked shop and the prices weren't excessive! Am looking forward to going again next year

One word to describe how we felt about this site and that was 'disappointed'. When we arrived we were shown to our two pitches but no clear indication of how we were to pitch was offered and they were extremely small, our hook up had to trail a long way and we came back on several occasions to find out plug was out of the of the hook up, hence our fridge wasnt cold and food had to be thrown. We had to move our car to let other people out cos there seemed to be three rows but no way for cars or campers in the middle to leave. If you like queueing then this is the site for you, had to queue for washing up facilities, showers, toilets and sinks. The showers sprayed off in all directions except straight down where you wanted them. The ladies toilet kept running out of toilet paper and soap and these only seemed to be replenished in the mornings. No sign of fresh flowers as listed in someone elses review, but would have been willing to forego these if there was loo paper and soap at all times. We werent the only people disappointed with this site, as got chatting to several others whilst queueing! We wont be going back, but loved the area

At short notice we booked for a busy weekend here in August as not many sites had availability for larger tents. As the other reviews say the touring pitches are really crammed in, however for tents the two large fields really were massive, flat and had plenty of space even at this busy time of year. The shower / loo facilities are OK, with some queues at busy times, and could do with some renovation - but everything works just fine. Monkey World is close by, as is Weymouth and Lulworth Cove, so there is plenty to see and do. We'll certainly be going back.

Just returned from weekend at Sandyholme. We live locally and wanted somewhere close so we could pitch up after work Friday. The first tent field was housing a rally so we stayed in the 2nd field with approx 4 other tents. The field is massive and we had loads of space for the kids to play frisbee, cricket etc without annoying anyone else. Admittedly it is a further walk to the one toilet block that you have on many sites but worth it for the peace and quiet of the field. Word of warning to those wanting electric pitches. Be prepared to be very close to your neighbours, the pitches there were tiny and on top of each other. The toilet block was kept very clean with fresh flowers in the ladies and the showers didnt get busy. Not alot for children on site, small play area, games room the pool table, table football and few arcade games but perfectly adequate for a base camp or quiet weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful, only downside was the bar / restaurant. Although food was ok it was small portions and overpriced, avoid that and stick to BBQs! Overall good site for short break.

Things to know about this site:
1. Toilets are very clean and showers are great, no Q's and loads of hot water. 2. Touring pitches are close but not overcrowded, Electric points can be far away, but the shop will loan you an extension for a small refundabel deposit. 3. Site has a friendly atmosphere, kids have loads of space to play and a dedicated area. 4. The play area slide has and open end which could be dangerous for small kids - needs fixing! dont leave small kids on this unattended. 5. Food from bar is good quality and can be eaten in or taken out. Beer is good! 6. Loads to do around the area within a 30min car trip. Holiday village 2mins up the road has a great swimming pool.
In summary good site for kids, dogs and adults.

We stumbled upon this site by chance and were glad we did. The toilets/showers were very well maintained and kept so clean, as was the rest of the site. The only complaint we had was that we could only stay for two days as they were fully booked for the Bank Holiday. The site had ample hookups although we did not need one this time. The shop was well stocked. The bar served hot meals and there were amusements and a ball area for the kids. An ideal location for Weymouth and Lulworth. Well worth a visit.

Just returned from a lovely weekend staying in our tent. Campsite was busy due to school holidays and good weather. There was still plenty of room in the tent field where we stayed ,and we were able to choose our own spacious pitch. However I would not say the same for the field with caravans/electric pitches, which was jam packed. The entire site is level. Unfortunately there is only one toilet block for whole campsite, which is located in the caravan field and could mean a long walk depending where you pitch. The block was kept very clean, despite being busy at cetain times of the day.
The onsite shop is well stocked and and prices are very fair. There are no pubs within walking distance, but they do serve food/drink onsite in the evenings (we didn't try it). We ended up here because it was the first campsite we found with availability that would take bookings, We were not disappointed. We had a great stay and would recommend it.
