After phoning 15 sites trying to get a pitch for the Bank Holiday weekend, we came across Charris Caravan park. It was small and not our usual site we would choose as the facilities were minimal, however on arrival we were greeted by one of the owners who showed us to our pitch and even helped us move the caravan on the slightly sloping pitch. The site is small but lovely and the service is very personal. They even put on a BBQ for the site on the Saturday (Bring your own food and drink). The womens showers were good and the cubicles were very spacious, even though you had to pay (20p for 5 minutes) but this was plenty for my daughter (3) and myself. The shop sold only the basics and papers can be ordered for your stay. The only downfalls as the lack of space for our 3 year old to run around and the men's shower block needed a little updating and the road noise from the A31. Other than that would definitely go back again and for £12.50 a night over the Bank Holiday what can we say - Brillant.

Have spent a lovely long weekend at Charris. The owners are extremely welcoming and very friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them, they even help put your tourer on the pitch using their land ranger. There is a small shop which has adequate supplies and a tourist information point with various leaflets as well as magazines / books which donations are requested and are given to three charities, which is a brilliant idea. The facilities are good (always kept clean) - the showers are 20p for 5 minutes - which can be useful during busy seasons - but I find are a bit tricky having long hair as 5 minutes is a bit of a rush when trying to wash the shampoo out (no time for conditioner so would need a two in one!). Facilities such as washing up, payphone, chemical disposal point, waste point and various drinking water points. This is a well run campsite for couples and families alike, although there is no specific play area for the children, so be prepared to have them running about a bit! There is a bit of noise from the traffic on the main roads behind - but you soon get used to it and isn't really a problem in a caravan. They laid on a bbq for all the guests over the weekend and they were very flexible on the leaving time as no one else was booked on our pitch. Overall lovely place to visit and even better, first one we have been on that doesn't charge extra for dogs or awnings! Great value for money. Would recommend.
