A very neat and tidy site with lots of new static caravans. The toilets although quite old were kept spotlessly clean. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. We chose this site because of it`s location. On the way home from Cornwall and stayed for 4 nights to break the journey up. 4 nights were enough for us. I missed the relaxed atmosphere of our previous sites. The site seemed more suitable for the more mature person. Children were not allowed to cycle or scooter around the site although they did have a large playing field with a few swings and table tennis and badminton. OK if it hadn`t been raining. Washing lines were not allowed either which when there are 4 of you is tricky trying to get towels dry. There were a lot of seasonal pitches too so it appeared busy but actually felt very quiet. We had a hard standing pitch which was quite small. A good place to stay if you want to visit the coast of South Devon and Dartmoor national park, but I`m afraid we won`t be back, too many rules for us, but OK if you don`t have children.

This site was visited by my Family almost 20 years ago, and we chose this as our seasonal site to berth our new van.

The service and facilities have not changed in quality (High) in all this time, the owner and his family are still providing a great holidaying experience and continue to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.

The Site is peaceful and well groomed, it is a David Bellamy recognised site for Butterflies and the birdlife is varied and extensive if your a budding naturalist. Waking up to the bunnies and Birds is a is a great treatment for hypertension and stress, so, if you need peace at the centre of your holidays or weekends away choose this site.

The site is monitored and maintained by a lovely couple who are the Wardens they are very helpful and friendly and clearly have your comfort and welfare as a high priority.

The site is very central for coast and moorland and is close enough for posh nosh and all facilities and attractions.

If you want bars and clubs and noise don't go here, if you want peace and quiet, woodland and wildlife and a great big play area for the kids this should be high on your list of places to stay

We stayed for a week at this site, which was very peaceful and handy to the bus route, hail and ride outside the entrance to site.

Very clean facilities which are toilets/showers and Laundry room. Play area for children, could probably do with more for kids to do though, although there were no children around when we went. Loads of wildlife around like rabbits and Woodpeckers. There is a meadow area for tents and pitches for Touring Caravans and there is also Static Caravans there. There are fresh water and electric supply on each pitch plus drain for waste water. Could do with Wifi facilities though. Owner and staff very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely week and will definitely go back.

On first impression the site looked to be pretty much full up,( main whitsun week)we booked into reception, given a gate pass(£10 deposit)and shown to our pitch by the friendly warden.

All pitches looked to be fully serviced, hardstanding, shale awning area and you share the service post with your neighbour, electric and waste hook up no problem, but must admit it was a bit of a stretch with a 7 metre water hose to get to the aquaroll.

After settling in,it soon became apparent that the site wasn't that busy after all and was made up of a fair few seasonal pitches dotted around the site, and by bank holiday monday evening the site was half empty, this combined with regular customers who use Holman's storage facility made way for a very friendly atmosphere as everybody seemed to know each other.

Toilet/shower block located central to both touring and camping fields and found these to be spotless thoughout the whole week, and with good size showers(four),washing up and laundry facilities makes this one of the best amenity blocks we've used.

Within ten minutes of arriving our daughter made friends with the children four pitches away, and although there is a play area for children, it seems that there isn't that much to do down there and they were quite happy to play in the woodland walk and chasing each other around the site and with all the discouraging signs (no cycling ,no ball games ,no skateboarding etc) gives over the impression that kids should be like the dogs, kept on leads at all times and I'm sure a few more facilities at the play area would keep the kids a bit more occupied and out the touring park.

The site itself does not have a shop, but is ideally located for all the usual suspects,BP garage 2 minute walk, highwaymans haunt public house 5 minutes away and Chudliegh village a 5 minute drive.

The site is just off the south bound A38,so there is some traffic noise, but that makes it ideally situated for all of the South Devon resorts as well as dartmoor and parts of Dorset and a perfect stopover if your travelling to and from Cornwall.

Overall this site is very clean, tidy and very well run to a standard of any club site if not better, and wouldn't hesitate to book another holiday.

We have camped, toured and used a static here many times for over six years.

Holmans Wood is a lovely site perfectly situated to explore Torbay and the South Hams.

Every time we have camped we have found the WC block to be exquisitely clean.

There is no shop but its a quick 2 min drive to the cute little town or large village Chudleigh with Co-op, Stop n Shop, pubs takeways etc etc

We first came here with the inlaws, we camped, they had a touring caravan. Then they changed up and bought a static which we had the use of for five years. Now the inlaws have sold it to another sister in the family and we still have use but less so.

The play arrangements for the kids are great, the static we use overlooks the 'crater' as we call it, so we can see them and even our three year old is perfectly safe in there with his sisters.

I have found the wardens over the years to be varied from a little 'over-zealous' to very helpful, I have once had a row with one of them, they are doing their job but sometimes need to relax a little.

Bins, borders, pitches, everything is meticulously looked after and although I would say there's nothing to do there (and there isn't) its a great base from which we have explored pretty much all of south, east and mid-Devon.

Within half hour is Teignmouth, Newton Abbot (races!) Torquay, Paigton, Brixham, Dartmoor and within the hour you have the South Hams, ie Dartmouth, Burgh island, Plymouth etc

For kids there is (within 45 mins) Miniature Pony Centre, Trago Mills, loads of beaches, House of Marbles, Pennywell Farm, Creally, all attractions in Torquay, great little park at Teignmouth and the pier, Teignmouth is great, under-rated, nice beach, good fishing and Shaldon across the river is lovely too.

Downside - the site is very close to the A38 to Plymouth (ie over the hedge) and that's a very busy, high speed road, so sleeping in a tent is at best a challenge. But not many tents there very often, so they have it sussed both ways!

We always feel relaxed within 5 mins of getting to Holmans Wood and at about 1hr 20 from Bristol that's pretty good! The kids haven't even thought about saying 'are we there yet?' !

Very nice site, very friendly staff, spotless loos & showers, easy to find (just off the A38 Plymouth Road). Shared power hook-ups but separate water and waste to each pitch. We only stayed for half of the week as we booked at the last minute and could not find a site with a full free week.

Great pub/restaurant a few hundred yards down the road. Even though the site was full it was quiet. Super play area for kids with outdoor table tennis (bring your own bats and balls)climbing frames etc. No shop within easy walking distance but 2 -3 mins by car in Chudleigh.

Stayed at this site for two nights. Site was very easy to find as it is next to the dual carriageway! This resulted in traffic noise at night.

The meadow area we camped in was on a slope and meant that our things were in the corners of the tent each morning! As were we! As it was on a slope and was very wet during the night we had a lot of trouble trying to get the car up and out of the field.

However, the site overall was very well kept and the warden was very friendly and helpful. Toilets and showers were great. They were clean and well kept, along with the washing area.

Site was in a good area and in good reach of a few tourist places, Trago Mills and a excellent camping shop(somewhere along the A380!)

Booked here for a long weekend. Site looks lovely on entering and the pitches for tourers looked very nice and well kept.

As I had a tent I was allocated to the 'Meadow'. It's probably nice down there when the summer's been hot and dry but after rain it is horrendous and I would advise anyone to refuse to be pitched there. I had to leave my car in the main car park and walk down to my tent as I got bogged in and there was not enough spaces where the owners had put shingle and straw down.

Every visit to the toilet block meant a slippy walk up the very wet grassy mud.

The toilet block is superb - one of the best I've ever seen and no doubt if you are allocated a pitch in the main touring area then this site is delightful.

On leaving I had to dismantle my tent and make three long steep and slippy journeys to my car carrying as much of my belongings as possible.

I personally would never book this site again unless I was guaranteed a pitch in the main area.

Chose this site for its easy access from west county however when leaving to go down to Plymouth had to tow through small town with lots of parked cars.

Staff very friendly and always seemed to be about

Doing something,to the well landscaped and tidy grounds. Toilet block was spotless separate disabled unit. Our pitch which was ok as we didn't bother with an anwing but would have been cramped if we had, over looked a good size play ground which was deserted as kids were back at school and we stayed sun/fri. Traffic noise was in the background but not as intrusive as site we stayed lower down the road. This is a peace full site with the feel of the countryside not for those who are looking for clubhouse style site.

Great for younger children.

We will def come here again.

We booked this site at the last minute after reading the good reviews it received. On arrival the staff were very friendly and we were shown to a lovely kept pitch, which was very generous in size. You didn't feel crowded which is a bonus in School Holidays. The pitch itself was on a slight slope but this was not really a problem. The touring pitch site itself is not huge but is away from the caravans and mobile homes and was nice and quiet. Which we loved. Also the views are stunning and there is a large meadow for the our two boys to play in whilst still be in full view.

The showers and toilet block were close by, which were clean and tidy and free. There was soap and proper toilet roll and I never had to queue for a shower and the water was hot. Yes the showers themselves are a little dated (not power showers!), but still very adequate. There is a hair dryer which costs 20p.

There is a very useful tourist information cabin stocked with loads of local information, where you can also freeze your ice blocks, borrow books, games and jigsaws. For the children there is a play area which has a few swings, an assault course, a net for badminton and tennis and a table tennis table. I believe you can borrow bats etc from the reception but we never used these.

The washing up area and washing facilities were kept clean and tidy and were adequate - I never had to queue. The site itself has won a David Bellamy award for wild life etc.

The only criticism was that there appeared not to be any recycling facilities which surprised us on such a well kept site. We had no problems with noisy neighbours apart from the first night which was a group playing their guitar at 11.00 p.M. For half an hour. Someone reported this and the matter was dealt with. We would highly recommend this site.
