This was our very first trip out in our motorhome which we collected the week before retiring to Shetland.
Lovely location with a quirky amenities block overlooking the marina.
Nice walks close by.
We will definitely be back as we have more of Yell to explore!

The location was perfect
The facilities were much more than we expected, exceptionally clean, spacious and warm.
The whole booking/reserving system was seamless.
Everything was well signposted.
The local people we met were all really friendly and helpful>
Well set up kitchen and laundry facility!
Loved the honesty box set up as well.
I don't want to say too much as I don't want too many people going up there :-)
Definitely return 100%

Brilliant community run campsite by the pier, just a few mminutes walk to the centre of the village.
They don't take booking you just turn up - first night we were there it was full by 5pm. Next night only 4 units on there. Weekends do seem busier at all site with Shetlanders out in their
Facilities etc exactly as previous review. You pay £10 for the pitch and electric then you make donations for shower, washing macine, drier etc. There are donations boxes dotted around, or just include with your pitch fees in the honesty box envelope.
There was a small local shop open certain times but we didn't use. The bar at the community hall in the village is open weekends and you are invited to go along.
We did use Aywick shop, something of a tourist spot it sells pretty much everything you could think of and the people that run it are wonderfully friendly. There is also a diesel / unleaded petrol pump there.
In the village the Haa museum is worth a vist and there are some lovely walks around. We used it as a base to visit the island and would not hesistate to recommend.

This a brilliant site, by the water and only costs £10 per night including EHU. You pay using an envelope and posting it in an 'honesty' box. Facilities were clean and included loos & showers. The small kitchen has kettle, microwave, washing machine & tumble dryer - all available in return for donation.
Very little space for tents, and CDP is behind building so a little difficult to get to. Water at EHU points. There are a large number of points for the size of facilities - this didn't worry us as we were the only people around.

There are 8+ camper pitches with EHU and room for 3 tents 4 at a push. The facilities are well maintained modern and fairly comprehensive. There is one fully accessible loo and one standard. The large shower is excellent. There is a microwave, kettle, toaster a large sink and a washer and a dryer. All included in the price. Anyone else can use these facilities and there is a donation box. At the time of writing a camper pitch was a tenner and four quid for a tent. The camper pitches are hard standing flat bit on a slight slope some campers use leveling blocks. We did not. The view is amazing. The harbour is gorgeous and seals are often see. Over the hill just behind the derelict Church there are stunning views and otter sightings.
There is a local shop but only opens a couple of hours and does not sell Milk. The best shop is in Aywick worth a visit as it is a bit special. The shop in Mid Yell is now closed.

This truly is a lovely little campsite. Quite cosy with some of the pitches being in a car park and the rest nearby. Very small, takes about 8 units with hook up. The facilities are immaculate and looked after by volunteers. Includes a laundry room with an honesty box. You pay via an honesty box as well. The location, like most on Shetland is amazing. Just go. Don't book. You will love it

I visited here earlier this year, and what a wonderful place to stay it is. The site and the facilities are excellently maintained, and have everything you need. The site fee is on an honesty system it was £10 per night when I visited plus you could use the washing machine and drier on an honesty basis
It was a truly wonderful place to spend some time. I stopped on my way north, then again on my way back. The sunsets and the boats in the little harbour are memorable. A guy was there otter spotting, though sadly I did not see any whilst there.
I have only given 5/10 for child friendliness. Not having any children I am not sure if they would like it probably the older ones would but there are no play facilities as such

This is a super site by the pier at Burravoe in the south of Yell which has been set up by the local community. An unusual feature is that the roof of the amenities block is the upturned hull of a lifeboat from the SS Canberra!
From the Visit Shetland website:-
“Availability is on a first come first served basis and payment is made through an honesty system. There are envelopes in the building for making payment and you post them in the letter box in the door. There are 4 fully serviced sites and power points for an extra 4 if needed, plus more room in the car park opposite. Several tents can also be accommodated. Open all year. ”
As stated above, everything from the pitch fee, shower & laundry are based on an honesty system. Whilst the pitch fee is set, you can donate what you feel that the shower & laundry facilities are worth!
We only spent one night here on our journey from Unst to the Mainland but this was an exceptional, as well as welcome, addition to the campsite choices in Shetland. I even spied an otter trotting across the boat ramp at dusk one evening [11. 00pm in May!].
