This site is easy to find and the booking process was quick and efficient. You can't walk to Okehampton (which is a bit rundown) because there is no pavement on the B road and it is a very fast and busy road.
GOOD POINTS
The tent pitches: they are large, level and well-kept.
Cleanliness: the whole site including the shower block and loos and the excellent undercover dishwashing area is very clean.
Dog walking area: this large area is fenced off and well planted with a variety of trees.
Free WIFI with a very strong signal on our pitch
Friendly owners
NOT SUCH GOOD POINTS
The showers: whilst they are new, a good size cubicle and all very clean, they operate on a sensor and the water goes off very quickly. If you don't trigger the sensor correctly again, you stand there dripping until you can persuade it to work again. The water pressure was also weak and the temperature of the water and the shower room was not as warm as I would have liked.
The road noise: the site is adjacent to a straight section of the B road. It is very busy in the morning and early evening - it's probably the way many locals go to work. As it is a straight section, some cars and quite a few motorbikes use it as a racetrack. We were in the terraced tent area which is nearest to the road and we occasionally could not even hear what each other said as the noise was so loud! I don't think this would be such a problem if you were in a caravan or motorhome, especially as the pitches for these are further from the road.

Just spent 3 days at the site nice little site clean and tidy, toilet and shower block superb.
Just wanted to relax for a few days not so the noise from the main road is not good especially when the bikers go to and from work.
The site is ideal for anyone wanting to explore Dartmoor.

Medium sized, well laid out brand new site just outside Okehampton. Great as a base for exploring Exmoor and Dartmoor or as a convenient stopover on your way to Cornwall.
Very friendly owners and nice showers and loos.
The wildlife pond and the fire pit are lovely features.

A fantastic caravan site my wife and I have been to a number of times, beautifully kept pitches with plenty space in between them.
A fantastic dog Walking area and well fenced.
The toilet and shower block is beautifully finished and clean and tidy, in fact you will come to find this at Appledore. All the pitches are well kept and the grass areas beautifully maintained.
Tim and Rebecca the owners of Appledore caravan park are friendly and welcoming and there is nothing they won't do to make sure your holiday is perfect.
We will be coming back again in the future

This is a very friendly clean and tidy site and the grounds and shower toilet block are so well kept and immaculate, and the area is very peaceful with no light pollution at night.
We had a nice hard standing pitch with all the amenities you need including Wi-Fi.
It is a very dog friendly site with a lovely dog walk. The wild life in the area is varied and in abundance, we saw various types of birds including Owl, wood peckers, buzzards and more swallows and house martins you can count. We also saw deer in the next field.
The site is excellent value. That includes the free range eggs which tasted glorious
Sometimes you can hear the idiots racing on the main road to the north.

We are touring around Devon and found this site on UK campsites. Text them and got a reply back to say they had an available pitch.
What a lovely site! Immaculate grounds and everything is spotlessly clean. Even the bins!We thought £17 per night with electric was very good value for the facilities here and the quality. Each pitch has its own water tap and very generous hard standing.
We are in a motorhome and always try to get hard standing when it has rained and this site would fit the large rv`s as well. We didn't need any supplies so not having a shop here wasn't a problem but Okehampton is only a few miles away.
Well worth the 5 stars it has been awarded.

Wonderful site. The owners were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were immaculate and very generous in size, with all mod cons.
The views are lovely and the location is quiet.
The free range eggs on sale were very tasty.
Can't wait until we go back.

It is described as a 5-star site and it most certainly is that.
Every aspect of this site is clean, neat and very high quality. The shower block is very well appointed and even has underfloor heating to keep your feet warm.
The pitches are level and that makes everything much easier no matter what kind of unit you have.
Others have mentioned the road noise: the road is on a fairly steep hill, so the noise is slightly higher due to vehicles being in a lower gear for the climb; personally it did not bother us and it was pretty quiet at night. The minor bugbear for me was that my morning run either started or finished on that steep hill.
The owners are really friendly and accommodating; they live right next door, so they are always on hand.
Highly recommended if you want a small, personal 5-star site with great views.

What a gem of a site, one of the best ones we have been on in a long time. I am disabled with only one leg yet the disabled facilities on site were second to none.
You could not ask for anything more, the pitches are good sizes and the grass is short and all collected up when cut, we had a hard standing with electric and water tap within 10 mtr of the van.
We will definitely use this site again next year, at £17 a night with electric it is not over priced for what you get. And that is 10 out of 10.

Just come back from Appledore Park after a week there. I can only agree with the other reviews here. We booked a grass pitch for our folding camper and were a little worried that we may get flooded with the torrential rain we had. There was no need to worry the pitch drained perfectly and despite all the rain we didn't see any mud anywhere.
This site is immaculate, very difficult to fault, so I'm not going to try. Tim and Rebecca work tirelessly to make sure everything is spotless.
It is very well thought out, good dog walking area where your pooch can safely roam around with good fencing all around.
If you don't mind driving, Appledore Park is central between North and South Devon with about an hour to the coast in each direction.
Quiet site with no shop but Okehampton is only a couple of miles away with supermarkets there including Lidl and Waitrose.
Would I go again? Certainly would.
