Just back from our first trip out with a 'new to us' trailer tent. We went off on a spur of the moment trip mid day on saturday and headed for another site just on the off chance. Unfortunately, it was completely full and we had to look elsewhere. We stumbled on this one and on arrival it looked ok so we pitched. The reception was closed but a sign sent us to the wardens lodge where we found two ladies who were both eager to help. We had the choice of pitches, whichever suited us. Each electric pitch had its own tap and there was enough room between pitches for privicy.
As this was really just a trial run to snag the new tent, we werent looking for 5 stars and I have got to say that this site would not have met this. Thats not to take anything away from what it did have however. It had a good feel about it right from arrival. Everyone we met was happy and welcoming, both staff and campers alike. Yes they have rules and signs posted up everywhere and some of them a good 2 years out of date but they dont force them down your throats. If you are generally good campers they do tend to just leave you alone.
We decided to eat in the cafe (well outside actually as we had the dog with us). The food was good home cooked fayre, piping hot and brought out to us at our table. One course was sufficient to fill us up. The cafe staff were pleasant and obliging.
The play park was near enough for our 8 year old to play in and we could see/hear her from our tent and she loved seeing the horses and rabbits in the nearby fields.
My only real negative comment is about the toilet/showers. They really do need to be nearer the touring pitches and they could do with modernisation.
For family camping, I'd definitely reccommend.

The site has 2 touring fields and a camping field. The toilets for the camping field are at the side of the camping area, which is sloped, and are very old. For the tourers it is a long walk around through the car park in front of the club house and restaurant to the toliets. They are very old and to gain access you walked past a window with clear views of the urinals. The toliets were clean although the Gents only had 2 showers and 2 of the toilets were out of order plus an interesting layout of sinks with a notice stating that the sinks were not to be used as a urinal, if you were caught you would be asked to leave. There is also NO soap, hand drying system or chair to use in the shower.
The swimming pool was not heated and outside so it was very very cold but it was very clean and of a good size.
The pitches were ok except they were very rutted, and not cleared of rubbish. The site is used as a base for a lot of tourers so you have the problem that the best pitches are taken and the people can be a bit teritorial.
The play area for the kids again was very old, however it was well laid out and it had the full spectrum.
The club/pub had entertainment on for the bank holiday, with a duo singing songs from the fifites and sixties, which was rubbish for the kids. On Sunday night they had a Disco and Karioke.
The Site is well placed for Hastings, Battle, Bodiam Castle, Camber sands, Rye and the Kent and Sussex Railway.
The site loves it rules and they have loads of them with signs everywhere, and that sometimes make it a little uneasy as I like having a beer outside the club while the kids play outside on bike or with a ball, however kids were not allowed to play out side the club.
The main problem is the toliet and shower block are not up a standard you would expect for the price and they are in the wrong place.

Just got back from a 2 night stay and must say a little dissapointed. The toilets and shower block were well below average and infact a lady told us that she complained that toilet roll had been all over the floor for 2 days and she was told 'what do you expect on a bank holiday weekend'. The ground we camped on was very bumpy and hard to place chairs / tables on. There was a playground for the children which my child did enjoy. Cannot comment on the pub/clubhoue and didnt see the pool area. But the surrounding area was lovely visted Bodiam Castle and had a great meal in The Castle Inn pub (next to castle)the best thing about this site for us was the nice other people we met on the day we were coming home.

Stayed here for a weekend in early June. Very friendly and helpful staff. Gave good advice about where to pitch (and more importantly where to avoid due to some areas getting waterlogged). Large site with plenty of room. The slope could potentially be a bit of a problem for some but we managed to find a reasonably level spot that wasn't too bad. Facilities were basic but clean and tidy. Didn't visit the restaurant, club house or pool so cant comment on those but overall a nice site in a pleasant location. Would definitely go again.

This was out first ever camping trip so was very nervous. We needn’t have worried. Staff very friendly on arrival, advised us to avoid a certain part of the field due to water logging. Site is on a slope, but we managed fine, by putting our sleeping pods so we had our heads up the slope. Road runs down the side of the site so wouldn’t always be possible to park near your pitch. We managed to as I think there were only half a dozen tents over the May bank holiday
Toilets and showers fine, though only two in the ladies. One was huge, took all four kids with me once and still had space. Was very muddy due to wet weather, and a mop would’ve been useful. They were cleaned regularly.
Small shop just behind reception, stocked all essentials.
Small outdoor pool, we didn’t use as weather was too cold.
Clubhouse, a bit cliquey, I felt. The site has statics and cabins, and everyone seemed to know everyone. However one rainy afternoon while sitting in the bar, with the kids moaning they was bored, the land lady came over with colouring and puzzle books for them to do. A very nice touch.
Evening entertainment was ok, not great but certainly not bad either! Really involved the children. Small restaurant in the club, food was fine and cooked to order.
Not far from Bodiam castle or Hastings town.
Would rate site as 7/10 may return.

Found the staff very friendly and helpful. Site is a bit sloping but as previous reviewers have said you can normally find an ok pitch. Yep, only 2 womens showers but plenty of hot water and large showers. Was pretty clean while we were there. The pool is kept spotless but was on the cold side to say the least. The shop sold a few necessities and wasn't too badly priced. Nice little bar/cafe area which is right near the pool. There are some nice walks through the countryside and the site is situated well back from the main road so is pretty quiet. Would return here again.

Well, just spent 6 lovely nights with my wife and 4 of my children, turned up on Friday, told to park caravan where we like (very friendly in reception) found old toilet block near swimming pool which had showers etc, not used as much as new block at bottom of field, bar was good not over priced, just a nice gentle atmosphere, with plenty of space for the kids to burn them selves out. Will be going back soon

We have just returned from a two night stay here and its not an experience we care to repeat. The site is very tidy and the shower and toilet blocks are fresh and cleaned everyday including weekends. But the site is very old fashioned in looks and rules I felt that children were more tolerated then welcomed.
We were shown to the pitch site as we required electrical hookup(you do need to pre book this) and found that the site was sloped and the only flat part wasn't hook up so we had to pitch in the middle of the slope which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. Also the field is quite exposed, no shading from trees which made it very windy at times.
There was no ball games in the camping area a field was set aside for this but it was too far away from the pitches and near the entrance and main road so not suitable for younger children. The outdoor pool was a nice size but very cold.
There seem to be a fair amount of rules on site mainly concerning children, they are not allowed anywhere without an adult that includes the bars restaurant and pool. There is a small play park but that closes early. There is also a small on site shop but very basic.
Now the restauran , a big disappointment very small very disorganised, you order and pay in the actual kitchen which we found to be not very health and safety conscious, with people going in and out and hot food being served. The food was average nothing to rave about chips with everything. We got to the restaurant at six when it opened and the staff didn't arrive till 6.30 so all in all we waited nearly an hour for our meal and nearly walked out.
Our last morning our electricity was cut of at 10am,when it clearly states you can be on site 12 noon to 12 noon we found this a little rude as if we had out stayed our welcome and the fact we had paid in advance for two whole days.

July 2005 Although not a level site it was good for a weekend. The hill was steep and please note that there is a sewage pump at the bottom which gives off awful smells. The shower block was small but clean-with only two showers but they were hot. There is a club house on site that accepts children in the family area and there is also an eating area. The food was good and very reasonably priced- two adults and two kids fed for £15. The kids enjoyed the playground but one word of warning, the adjacent woods have warning notices up that the farmer goes hunting in them with a shotgun, so the kids need to be kept clear. The site does warn you about this and there is a fence but you can still get through if you want to. Caravans were kept at the top of the hill and tents were given the rest of the field, with a pitch where you please policy. Good location for Hastings and a large Sainsburys.

August 2005 After reading some of the previous reviews, we went to Lordine Court with some trepidation. However, we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful (perhaps they read these reviews!). Its true that the main tenting field is on a slope, however if you spend a little time to survey the field before pitching, you should be able to find a convenient "shelf" on which to make camp, we found one not fifty meters from the toilet block. The site is quite picturesque, and quiet at night (dependant on your fellow campers of course). We found that the toilets were reasonably clean and the showers were brilliant. The only comment here would be that there was nowhere to put clothes when showering. There is a friendly and cozy bar / restaurant on site with live entertainment in the summer, so we didn't have to go hiking to the nearest village (about a mile away) for a beer. We had a look at the swimming pool and immediately regretted not bringing our swimming gear, this was at nine in the morning on a Saturday and the pool was empty! It has a small terrace area and the sign says that it can cater for thirty five people. The pool itself was very clear and looks like it is well maintained. As far as pricing was concerned, we found no problems at all (we had already read the reviews on this site),and they remained consistant throughout our stay. We would definitely return to this site in future.
