Our second visit to this site as 1. We enjoyed it so much the first time and 2. We were attending an event at the Angel Inn (excellent local pub).
Happy to say we weren't disappointed and the site was as pleasing on return as it was on the first visit.
We've had a change of motorhome between visits but our pitch by the mill pond was perfect and peaceful and we didn't feel crowded.
Facilities are good, not spinky spanky new and shiny but they work so that's fine for me!
Location is brilliant, being dog owners on site and nearby dog walks are really important and this site is very dog friendly with lots of nice long or short walks from the site.
There are a lot of seasonal pitches here but that is quite common on these larger sites from our experience.
We would definitely return for another relaxing break.

My friends and I chose this site because of the access to the river and the lake in the middle of the park. The site advertises fishing as an attraction but that's where it stops. Upon arrival at the site we asked the site managers about recent catches at the site and the response was apathetic at best. They hadn't a clue about the lake or the river. The lake is surrounded by touring caravans and to fish anywhere near any of these you needed the permission of the caravan owner. Most were unoccupied so that was impossible. The three swims available to fish were overgrown, and also surrounded by bushes and trees. The lake itself is chocked with weed and looked as if you could walked across it it was so dense. When we questioned the site managers the response was. 'if I had twenty tons of earth I'd fill it in!' So I'd say he wasn't an angler in any way shape or form.
We enquired about fishing the river and were told that the landing stages could be fished from if there weren't any boats moored. Well we did just that and after an hour or so one morning we were approached by the manager and were told to pack up as there had been complaints. The stretch of river we could fish from was one of approximately 50 foot in length and on a landing stage quite a height above the water, not ideal, and also impossible to use any bank sticks. Again, this was only fishable if a boat wasn't moored there. How can a site advertise on fishing websites and in angling publications as a location for fishing breaks. There's even a sign at the entrance to the sight stating fishing is available. If you're a resident than this maybe the case but for visitors it certainly isn't.
With a little thought it could be a nice place to visit for the angler, unfortunately the management have no interest in catering for the angler and in my opinion is a missed opportunity.
The rest of the site appears to be well looked after and has basic facilities. If you intend to fish, you may be wasting your time.

We have just had 3 nights here, What a gem of a place
Wardens and staff so friendly
Our pitch was by a pond and near the lock with a lot of space.
Toilets & showers were clean & functional
The fishing was fun, we caught quite a few roach & perch
Lovely walks from the site & the Angel pub a short walk from the site serving great food
Cant wait to go back

Just back from there, toilets old and need updating. Showers old and need updating, should be free. Cannot sit at waters edge as the lake and river are all taken up by residents or permanent pitches. Location is superb, nice walks, but won't return. Oh, no children with us so didn't see any activity area, so gave it a 6.

Me and the family used this site as a stop over for a couple of days as we were travelling from Dorset to Scotland for a 6 week break. The site sounded alright on the web page so we thought we would give it a go well where do I start. The wardens were brill and couldn't help enough but they were fighting a losing battle on entering the site we were held up for an hour due another caravan coming out of the site caught the back of their van on the mill wall and ripped the back off. The old bloke driving it wasn't too fused but the van was brand new and his partner was furious. Once cleared we got in at a struggle but by the looks of the corner of the wall this guy wasn't the first to catch it and probably not the last. My van is over 25ft long and pulling it is a Volvo c70 so the overall length is quite long. If you have a small van then it shouldn't be a problem as others have stated however ive been towing for 40 years and I am an advanced driving examiner and I struggled so please make use this advise as you please. The cold dank dark dingy shed they use for toilets and 'showers' is shocking albeit clean they are very off putting and for the price per night you pay this should be reflected in it not added to it as previous reviews stated. The electric kept tripping all the caravans around us and on reporting this they stated it was the whole site yet all the vans around the fish pond still had electricity!. Overall stay was quite but we could have stopped in a field and got the same facilities. There was a large empty field which the kids did enjoy and spent hours on it but there is no park facilities for kids and the walks along the canal were nice but very short. We stopped in 11 campsites on our trip and this was the worst by a longshot. I do not recommend this site to anyone

We've been going to Yarwell Mill for the past 4 years camping with our tent and enjoyed it so much we decided to buy a caravan and book a seasonal pitch this year.
Whilst this site is mainly for seasonal caravans is does accommodate for tourers and campers very well. It's a quiet and relaxed site which is what we love together with a very friendly audience. The lake, field and surrounding area and kept well and as natural as possible due to the friendly wildlife on the water.
There are two camping fields, both vast and have good grass with loads of room to fly a kite, play rounders or picnic. The site doesn't have any playground for Children so it's back to the traditional holiday if you have Children. The Nene Valley Railway, walks by the river (along Nene Way), footpath to the village and local pub are all accessible from the site.
The shower and toilet block does the job, it's clean and functional. Considering how much time you spend in there it doesn't worry us, however I can understand why some people comment on it compared to other newer sites.
Maureen and Dave who manage the site will ensure your welcome is friendly and do everything in their power to make sure your break is as enjoyable as it can be. They work hard and are a credit to the site.
Being a seasonal campsite it's closed from November to March. We've already booked our seasonal pitch for next year and there's no where better locally that offers the outlook, close to nature, relaxed and friendly atmosphere like Yarwell does.
Go take a visit!

Stayed here for glorious 4 relaxed weeks in my tent. Quite and peaceful. The wardens, Dave and Maureen could not have been more helpful or efficient, nothing was too much trouble for them.
It has been noted on other review sites that people complained about the toilet blocks and spiders in the same. Whilst the blocks are older, this does not detract from the fact that there is always a plentiful supply of hot water and, that the showers do not simply drip and get you damp. Spiders, you are outside, live with it - they put up with you!
While I did not have children with me, there appeared plenty for them to do/ get involved in - no there was no park or swings, but there were other activities that they could do using their imagination, rather than have everything on a plate.
Three nice pubs only a short walk - same half mile from the site.

Will never go back here ever! Unhelpful and unwelcoming.
Toilets too far from camping area.
Over priced at £20 per night.
Outdated smelly shower / toilet block. Dark and dank.
20p for a 5 min shower after paying £20 per night? I don't think so. Unbelievable.
No park for the kids but kept themselves busy.
Yarwell itself is a beautiful village and The Angel Inn pub is definitely worth a visit- that's the only positive experience from this stay.
Very disappointed.

We went to yarwell mill about 20 years ago. It was a very good site with plenty of places to go fishing, which was the main attraction.
On this recent visit, we noticed that the site had really gone downhill. The main lake is now surrounded by seasonal tourers and there are hardly any places to fish it. The water is very shallow as well. The river is now overgrown and you can hardly get down to the bank to fish it. The mill pond has banks so steep it is a wonder people don't fall in it. Also the weed and reeds look like they have not been cut down since we were there 20 years ago.
I used to enjoy going to this park when the children were small, but i wont be going again. Also there are not enough litter bins about.

We loved this site. Easy to find and wardens were helpful. We had no problem in negotiating the bridge at the entrance to the park.
Our pitch was by the pond and lock and once the weekend visitors had left it was just us plus one other unit so lots of space. There are a lot of seasonal pitches but also a big rally/camping field so it didn't feel cramped.
All facilities worked perfectly well, and all was kept clean and tidy.
As dog owners walks are important and the walks round the park were perfect for the early morning and late evening dog walk and walk to Yarwell Junction station, along the canal and to the local villages were very pleasant. Good location too for exploring the local area.
As we really like to be by water the comings and goings on the lock and canal were fascinating and very relaxing.
We will definitely return in the future.
