This site is an ideal location to explore South East Wales. Our pitch was even and in good condition. Whilst the toilet and shower block was adequate, it is in need of updating. The 20p for the shower lasted about 5 minutes.
Whilst the site suited us as an adult couple we would not consider taking a child to this site as there are many ground rules regarding quiet and being on the grass etc etc. Neither would we stay at this site for more than two nights as the facilities are only really suitable for a couple of nights.
If you want a quiet base for exploring South East Wales for a weekend this site is adequate.

The site is lovely - of course the weather helped - nice & quiet. There is a children's play area that we were quite near, but it didn't bother us.
The pitches are laid out so that you know exactly where to park your van & the facilities are dated but very clean and smelt as though they had been recently painted, 20p lasted ages. The dish washing area is huge and all indoors.
We were greeted by one of the owners and once she had told us we were early! was quite pleasant, we did not meet the other owner at all as he kept sending the lady who keeps the facilities very clean to tell us things like to move our car as he wanted to mow the grass! We had emailed to say that we were arriving at 11am but we arrived at about 11.30!
We would go back to the site and as long as we are not bothered by the owners – which you shouldn’t be if you keep to the rules, which are not unreasonable! - you will have a great time. Just don't expect a warm welcome!

First visited this site eleven/twelve yrs ago and we were delighted with it,however on our recent visit we found that it had changed ownership and although she was very helpful he was not so.
The site has many rules and they are strictly enforced. The Public house that was outside the main gate has been demolished and houses built so 45/50 min walk into Monmouth for an evening drink.
There is a bus service but this finishes 6.54pm into town. No local shop.
Monmouth lovely, some good pubs and places to eat out. The road that runs past the site gets busy around 6AM and is relentless, so don't expect to lie in to late.

We used to use this site for weekends a couple of years ago, then we gave up touring for a while, now we have gone back to touring we have booked this site again, August Bank Holiday 2009. Yes they do have some rules, but we find them good for our enjoyment of the site, (late night noise, kids running around late, speed limit, one way system ) all in all we enjoy this site for what we need, and will continue to use.

This site is located in a fantastic area which is why we visited it. Raglan castle is definitely worth a visit.
It has reasonable toilets and showers (which cost 20p and you are not told this before you arrive!). In the ladies there is a large sink which is for washing babies, but there is no changing unit / table which makes drying and dressing them pretty awkward. There is an indoor washing up area and a nice playground for children. It is generally very safe due to the strictly enforced 5mph speed limit on site. The site is very flat and has good grass and very few stones which makes pitching easy!
Unfortunately there are also negatives to the site. We were expecting a grocery delivery and were told by an employee that she would direct it to our pitch, however he was not at all happy with this as commercial vehicles are not allowed on the site (apart from the ice cream van that drove around!) so we had to offload it at the entrance to the site. Mr Price was not happy at this
We had to move our tent about an hour after we had pitched it as despite a site employee being happy with its location within our pitches (which was how Mrs Price had requested us to pitch it) Mr Price wasn't!
There is also a considerable amount of noise from the road which passes immediately past the site.
The other factor that was most inconvenient was that we were not allowed to keep our trailer on site for the duration of our stay despite other families being able to do so. We had to store it in the church car park 200m down the road and make a donation for doing so. This along with the one car per pitch rule is very annoying.

Have just visited Glen Trothy and have had a very pleasant weekend. There is much to see around this area and we had a lovely time exploring Symonds Yat and The Forest of Dean. The site itself is very well kept, although the spaces are far too small and do not allow much privacy, unfortunately. The toilets are clean and showers at 20p a go, provide hot water, which is nice when you have had cold showers at other sites in the past, as I have.
The downside to this site, however and the reason why sadly we will not be returning, is that it is only one car per pitch, so if you have a big family and are reliant on having to take 2 cars, you are going to have a bit of bother, I'm afraid! You cannot both unpack together. One car has to be parked in a very small car park at the entrance (Which only accommodates 4 cars!)and you then have to exchange cars to unpack, whilst getting the owners approval for you to go through the security barriers. What an absolute nonsense! Oh, and if you are unfortunate not to be able to park in the car park, you then have to park 200 metres down the road, at the local church car park! All in all, we won't be returning, due to this rule, which is sad as it was a nice site.

After reading reviews on the site we were mayby a little apprehensive, went with open mind as usual and had a great week, owners couldn't have been more helpful. The site is in a great location and had a nice feel, the pitches do have less room perhaps than other sites , this was in no way a problem however.
Toilets and showers were a little dated , but kept clean, having to pay 20p for a guaranteed hot long shower is not a problem, I have been on C.C. Sites and experienced no hot water on more than one occasion when I would have welcomed paying 20p for a proper facility.
I would use this site again, I suggest others that have fallen out with the owners probably havn't respected the site rules, which did not detract from our holiday in any way.
If you are going here, I suggest the cycle hire from Monmouth to Symonds Yat, all off road and was suitable (10 mile round trip) for our two boys to manage (5 & 7) views of the river & valley were superb and a cracking choice of pubs etc at Symonds Yat.

Access to the site is easy because of it's proximity to the dual carriageway. This comes at a price. Traffic noise all day and night.
The site tends to pack in as many as possible at busy times and can feel rather crowded.
There were queues for the toilets in the morning.
Not one we would return to in a hurry!

We found this site by accident when we couldn't get into the campsite we'd originally planned to stay at. Its an immaculately kept campsite with a lovely clean shower and toilet block. (showers 20p). A £10 refundable deposit is required for the key for the barriers. The site only takes cheques or cash not cards.
Unusually no cars were allowed in the end field which we camped in. They had to be parked outside the gate. It was only a small field so they were only a short walk away but it gave the field a lovely peaceful feel.
I can't comment on Mr site owner as we didn't see him much but dealt with his wife. She was very friendly and helpful.
If you walk out of the campsite and go right, opposite the church there's a lane which leads to a stile and footpath. Keep following the signs up the hill for some lovely views. (Its easier to cross at the zebra crossing).
There is a Waitrose and Lidl's in Monmouth.

Went to this site to try out or newly purchased tent in the beginning of August and was pleasantly surprised. Read the other posts about the owners and there rule keeping so was for armed but I didn't think they were that bad, a bit in your face with the rules but OK apart from that. The site was lovely as we had plenty of room in the tent field. We have a large 8 man tent so were given 2 pitches to spread over which cost us the smallest tent size on a pitch, about £2 extra I think. There were a few electric hook ups scattered around the camping field which we used and they were £2 each. The toilets were very clean and pleasant but the showers were 20p to use. We had friends turn up later in the evening and they were not allowed to bring there car onto site and had to park on the main road outside, might be something to keep in mind if your having visitors. There was a children's play ground but it is mainly for older children and not very toddler friendly as it is very messy with a fine sand being spread all over the apparatus. We had the option of a late stay on our last day for an extra £3 which lasted till 6pm as-long as you booked it before 11pm on your departure day. All in all a nice little site that suited us pretty good, enjoy all.
