Warden was very helpful.
We booked online but were charged more then stated when the monies were collected on site.
There was a lot of work going on in the site during our visit but this did not seem to affect us too much.
Toilets and shower block were ok - they were being refurbished at the time of our visit.
If you stay on this site make sure you cross the road and go the the Marsden Grotto.
Its a lovely cave bar which looks out onto the sea.
For one night it was ok - but any longer may have been interrupted by building work.

Felt uncomfortable about the place all weekend - we made sure one of us stayed with the tent at all times. Each time I went to the shower block, various random women would be sat on chairs simply chatting - not using the block but for a chat for hours on end. We were warned that work was being done which meant builders supplies were in the shower blocks! The reception was hard to find - just an unmarked static with people who couldn't even find our booking when we turned up and just pointed us to a random pitch. Scary. At one point during the night, some random drunk bloke shouted to us through the tent that he could see what we were doing (we were reading books!) and then claimed to be campsite security. Not pleasant. Please note that this is a muted review of the place- if I'd written this soon after olur stay there, I would not have managed to be quite so nice about it!

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting family in the area. This site is on a slope.
The site is basic with no play area for the children. Whilst we were there they were having upgrade work done on the toilet block so there were only 2 out of 6 sinks working in the gents. The showers were cold with no way of adjusting the temperature.
The site over looks the North Sea with some fantastic beaches only a few minutes away. Plenty for the kids to do on the sea front with a fairground and boating lake etc.
The site was like a building site rather than a camp site which wasn't a major problem but at nearly £30 per night you would have thought that they could have warned us when we booked up.
The warden was very helpful and friendly. They also have a security guy that lives in a caravan on site and does walk arounds through the night.
This site is okay for a one or two night stay but I don't think that we would stay for any longer.

We've visited here twice, the first time was our first camping experience and being from Durham it wasn't too far if I didn't like it. The warden was a great help and advised us on what we should do and helped with the tent as well as we must have had newbies written all over us.
We had our dog with us and he really enjoyed it there, very peaceful and near to the other brightlights if you wanted them. The shower rooms and toilet blocks are good and washing up facilities are fine. Value for money and a great place to start your camping if you want to try it and get a feel for it locally or if you want to stay near south shields but don't want the noise in your face, a peaceful haven.

Stayed here for one night to check the site out even though we only live 10 minutes away by car. The site is on a slope with a golf course on one side and a housing estate on the left. Tents are placed towards the houses which provide an element of shelter during high winds. The site is only a stones throw from the cliff top at Marsden and it is well worth a trip to the Marsden Grotto which is over the road. The site itself is basic but clean, there is not a shop on site but there is an ASDA in South Shields town centre or a large Morrisons in Seaburn only a 5-10 minuter drive away. The site is a good base to explore the seafront between Sunderland and South Shields, Newcastle is only 30 minutes away on the local Metro system,

Just returned from the bank holiday and as avid campers we thought that this site was great. Nothing there for the children but plenty of room for a ball game. Toilets and showers did the job even though on the basic side. The wash up area only had 1 sink so had to queue. Wardens were really friendly and will be going back.

This was the first site we visited in our motorhome so we were still very much on a learning curve with everything. The site is run by the local council and was clean, tidy and well maintained. The toilet and shower block, although a bit scruffy due to age, were kept very clean. The showers are free to use and there was plenty of hot water. Location wise, the site is situated on the very edge of the town and there are lovely walks along the cliff tops which are found just across the road. Good place for walking the dog. Not much on site for kids, but the beach is accesible 200yds down the road. There are no level pitches on the site, but we didn't have a problem levelling up with the wheel chocks. There are no major supermarkets close by (think Sainsbury's is about 2m away) but there is a local store which stocked more or less everything about 200yds away. The wardens were very helpful and friendly. Being very close to the coast, this site can be subject to catching the wind so don't forget the windbreak

This was our first camping trip with our 4 year old son, the campsite was great, it is right next to the sea and we found the facilities on site were very well kept, lovely hot showers and clean toilets. Shops are a short drive away and Newcastle city is only 15 mins away. Tent pitches are on a slightly sloped hill but this was fine. The wardens were very pleasant and rates are really cheap. Will be returning without a doubt.

Wardens of the site were helpful and friendly, site fees were very reasonable. Toilets were reasonably clean, but it was raining some of the time I was there. Kids were a bit bored on site but plenty to do in South Shields just along the road. It was a nice small site for a relaxing break, dogs are welcome and there's a nice nature walk just over the road perfect for pets. I will be visiting this site again sometime soon

We visited in our motor home, the site was lovely, clean warm toilets, lovely warden, free hot showers. There are loads of walks surrounding the area and a beach within walking distance.
We did need a hose to fill the motor home with fresh water and another hose to empty the waste at the end of the visit as the site isn't really set up for motor homes (although there were quite a few of us visiting).
The site is not level anywhere and if it's raining then you can get bogged in. On the whole it is very welcoming and quite.
