 I live 10 minutes walk from this site and frequently use it to meet up with members of my Angling site from all over the UK. It's an ideal base for tourers and campers alike. Facilies are the clean toilets/shower block of which you need a key to get in so are secure. There's nothing for kids but directly opposite is a fantastic hill known as Cleadon Hill, great walks and plenty space for kids to explore but beware the high cliffs overlooking the disused quarry.
Over the coast road from the site is the popular tourist attraction, the Grotto pub which is situated on Marsden Beach in a beautiful sandy bay. The lift takes you down from the car park into the bar or restaurant.
There's loads to do in town,like the fairground, boating lake, cinema, skatepark, BMX tracks, swimming baths and a nightlife thats famous across the region!
If your thinking of visiting South Shields this is a great place to use as a base. I hope this helps anyone interested ;)

We spent 3 nights at Lizard lane and totally enjoyed it, showers and toilets very clean and the warden was helpful too. There is good sea views and most of our fellow campers were local!!! We are hoping to spend a few more relaxing days there very soon.

Small yet clean park. Toilettes and showers are well kept. Park has great view of the water! Caretakers are really nice and helpful people.
