A Camping Club no facilities site near to Shrewsbury in an old quarry complete with some WW2 MOD concrete roads. The wardens and the facilities provided were to the usual club standard. The site is divided into 3 levels, the lower level with limited space has hardstandings and overlooks the lake, the middle level is an open grassed area, with a play area, and the highest level, which we were on, has concrete hardstandings and is mainly under trees. Sadly we found this to be the least pleasant of the 3 areas as it is more or less constantly in the shade and because it is the highest level had constant wind whilst the lower levels seemed more sheltered.

Ebury Hill is a very peaceful and picturesque site. Well maintained by the hard working and very pleasant wardens who are a credit to the club. Out in the countryside but only a few mins drive from Shrewsbury and local shops/supermarkets, Salop Leisure is just up the road too.
On site you have a great dog walk in the woods, a small playground for the kids and woods for them to explore, fishing and the usual site shop.
There is no toilet or shower block so make sure your unit has what you need. Local pub (Dog in the lane) serves pub grub too!
If you want a relaxing break then this is the place for you. The only down side is that we have to share it with everyone else! Give it a go!

Stayed here for just one night to break up a trip to North Wales.
We were genuinely disappointed that our stay was not longer on this beautiful site. Although there are no toilets or showers in a modern caravan you can adapt and make do for a few days with no problems.
The site is very peaceful and although a little lumpy in places it is generally flat so levelling off is fairly easy.
The playground is basic, but it kept our kids amused together with the walks around the edges of the site through the woods with the dog.
If this site had toilets/showers it would be convenient, however, I feel that it would get very busy and possibly spoil the charm of the site.
I would definitely stay here again, and probably will do at some point in the future in order to explore the local area further.

Ebury Hill is a lovely peaceful site, set in woodland on the site of an old iron age hill fort.
The lower section with hardstandings is adults only as it is near a pond/lake. The upper section has two parts: mixed grass / hardstandings, and just grass pitches. The upper grass pitches-only area also has the play area so I would recommend to camp there if you have children.
The play area just has swings and a slide / climbing frame, but it serves as a meeting area for the children, and my chidldren found some playmates.
The site office has a few groceries but is not open all day. It also has a few caravan bits and bobs, but 'Salop leisure' (a big caravan shop) is not very far away if you've forgotten anything. The wardens are friendly.
The site wi-fi is quite patchy. We had a choice of pitches when we arrived. The grass pitches are gently undulating rather than sloping; I had no problems getting the caravan level.
There are some nice short woodland walks around the site. It is easy to drive to with no problems regarding access. The ruins of Haughmond Abbey are not far away. I would come back here again when visiting Shropshire.

What a fabulous place, so peaceful and quiet all you can hear is the birds song all day long, awoken each morning to the sound of the woodpecker. The site wardens were very helpful and showed us to our pitch and explained where everything was they even came back later to make sure all was ok.
Small children play area near the edge of the woods was well used throughout the day.
Dog walk was well signed and well used, and yet there were no signs of dog mess anywhere, plenty of dog loo bins.
Most pitches have a good mix of sun and shade as you would expect as it is set in a old quarry surrounded by trees. There are no Toilet facilities but this was not a problem as most caravans have there own toilets these days anyway, there was a washing up area in the lower part of the site, cant really comment as we did not use it but there was a steady flow of people around tea time that did.
This was our second visit but it wont be our last, we really felt like we'd had a rest when we came home.

Just returned from a wonderful two nights at Ebury Hill. The owners/wardens were very friendly and showed us to our pitch. The site is nestled in woods and with some amazing views from the perimeter. We woke up to frost on the second day but we were lovely and snug in our campervan. We didn't see many others on site but those we did were friendly, but not intrusive. A few other families also on site judging by the bikes outside the units.
No facilities doesn't bother us for a couple of nights, we cope just fine with our portaloo and smelling a bit ;o)
Our pitch was on grass at the top end of the site with hook up and was level.
We will definitely return, we have relatives in the area (the reason for our visit) so we'll just use their shower if we need one! Its ideally placed for all the local English Heritage/National Trust and lots and lots of geocaches :) A must visit is the ruins at Moreton Corbet, really very impressive indeed, and free entry too.

Ebury Hill CCC site which has a lovely rural setting on a small, wooded hill a couple of miles from Shrewsbury. I know the area well as I grew up in, what is now, Telford, nearby.
Ebury Hill is about 13 miles from Ironbridge with its wooded gorge and famous museums. It is very handy for Shrewsbury as it is quite close to one of that town's Park and Ride carparks which provides a regular bus service into the town. Which is a fascinating town with its castle, wealth of historic buildings and interesting shops set in a loop of the River Severn.
Shrewsbury is the setting for Ellis Peter's (I used to be her newspaper boy!) 'Cadfael' stories Shrewsbury is about 15 miles from Ironbridge. It is, also, the birthplace of Charles Darwin. There are plenty of campsites near Shrewsbury.
We stayed there in early Summer 2010. It was formerly used as an army base and the site roads and building bases have been adapted to be hardstanding pitches. It has a small, picturesque lake, at its centre which can be used for fishing - I imagine this is 'drowned' quarry. This is fenced so it is reasonably safe for children.
The pitches are on 2 levels. The lower area is on the same level as the lake and upper area where the hardstanding pitches are in lines utilising the concrete roads from its army camp days. The upper area is quite wooded and some of the grass pitches overlook the lake, from above. I don't recall there being a children's playground but there is certainly plenty of 'exploring' areas for children.
The site does not have any toilet block and so this means the tariff is lower.

A lovely time of year for this site we were looking down on pond and can recommend for well drained grass. No toilets or shower here so now we have tt may not be able to go. Lovely walk round site for dogs very relaxed and peaceful great without kids, they are welcome though. Abbey nearby to look round and we did the follies walk omg nearly killed us but a feather in your cap it is 100s of steps but amazing.

We have spent several weekends at this site, here are the great points: friendly wardens, open pitching, peaceful and quiet, wildlife, super dog walking, well stocked lake, adequate play area and woodland area. There are no facilities her but that doesn't matter, nor does it detract from our favourite site. 10mins drive to tesco, visit the Battlefield farm shop and try the Shropshire blue chicken and bacon.
