Just returned from a 5 night stay here and was very impressed.
It's set in a former quarry so has a lower section with hardstandings surrounded by the quarry wall and a fishing pool then up the top half there are a few more rows of hardstanding and then an area set amongst the trees overlooking the lower section which is where we were. (You will need your levelling ramps and chocks)
The main thing we noticed was how peaceful it is, there's no noise other than the sheep and birds, you even get to hear the owls at night in the woods surrounding the site.
Despite being out in the countryside you are only a 10 minute drive from large retail parks and supermarkets and Salop leisure is a couple of miles away for any caravan bits and bobs you may need.
There are no toilet facilities and for kids there are only 2 swings and 1 slide but for us that was a bonus as it meant that despite being the main holiday season and the site being full it was still extremely quiet and peaceful.
The dog walk is through the woods around the perimeter of the site but dogs must be kept on a lead, apparently you can walk them further through the nearby field and then loose them off but one of ours is an old girl now and can only manage short walks so we drove down the lane approximately a mile and parked at 'Abbey Wood' where she could be off lead and the 2 youngsters could run free and burn off some energy.
If you want a lovely, quiet, picturesque, relaxing break this is definitely the site for you, we're already planning our next visit.
If I had to suggest any improvements it would be to 1: have an off lead area for doggy walks and 2: to move the stored caravans from the lower area as they are smack bang in the middle of the touring pitches and not very nice to look out on.

Last visited in 1995 and to be honest forgot what a lovely site it was so nice I shall definitely return at least once again this year. I can only agree with most of the other comments of the other campers and yes these were pleasant wardens. I've been a member since 1995 now and this is one of the best in the clubs network. This site as no toilet facilities but believe me this is one excellent site.

Just returned from this lovely site. Staff very helpful.Fishing available at no extra cost although we gave a donation as suggested. Beautiful setting. Brilliant for children - playground and woods to safely explore - we must have noticed at least 5 'Dens' hidden away that the children had made ! Our 6 yr old loved it. Great for dog walks. Will definitely go again.

Just arrived back from a 6 night stay at this site.
This was the second time we have visited now and if the first time wasn’t great enough the second time is even better
It really is a little slice of heaven, tent campers may struggle due to lack of toilet block, however if you can manage without that I urge you to go,
There are magnificent walks on and off the site (ideal if you have dogs) and great views.
You can walk across the fields to the local pub (the dog in the lane) great food and fairly cheap drinks,
You can also walk from the sites to the nearby woods and down to Haughton Abbey (English heritage ruins site)
The site itself is about 15 minute drive into Shrewsbury centre which will have all the shopping you could need, about 10 minute drive from the site is tesco, lidl, and aldi all ideal for essentials,
If you need any caravan/ camping accessories Salop, leisure is also about 10 minutes drive and the site managers have printed out directions available from the information room
There is a whole host of things to do in the area and there is a fishing lake on site if you enjoy angling.
Although there are no facilities there is a washing up room which cuts down on mess in your unit and most pitches have EHU,
We will definitely go back to this site, I would recommend a OS map to make the most of the area if you enjoy exploring on foot.
The Holiday site managers are friendly and the site shop sells some essentials.
Only one word for us to describe this site and that is Superb.

Having read all the 'rave' reviews we have just come back from a super weekend. Cannot surpass the previous comments, the best by far of all the CCC sites we have been to and we have been members for 8 years. Just to let you know that all being well the site will be open all year as from 2009. Good news indeed.
We have come across some very cross wardens over the years, goodness knows why they are like it but these two are the nicest people you could wish to meet.

We had 10 wonderful days at Ebury Hill, we have been plenty of times over the years only for weekends. We were only staying for 5 days but the weather was great. Set in a lovely location, pitches very good size, wardens are very friendly, so we booked another 5 nights it was so peaceful
We will be going again soon

Having stayed at this site twice and visited our parents there numerous times, we cant seem to stay away! The setting is beautiful, the children love to play on the little swings and have plenty of space to roam around safely. The pitches are a good size and not in regimental lines! As there are no toilet facilities this makes the site nice and cheap for a fantastic weekend. The location is great and makes it really convenient for Shrewsbury and Telford and is only a 10 min drive to Tesco, Morrisons and a fab DIY shop we found called Charlies!
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site, but don't tell everyone or we wont be able to get in so easily :)

We spent several weekends here during 2007, and will definitely be spending more weekends here during 2008.
This has to be one of the nicest sites in the Camping and Caravan Club network, is wonderfully peaceful and has pitches in a variety of locations. Mike and Carole are fab, and the site itself has pitches over looking the lake, in the trees, overlooking open farmland, has an excellent dog walk and is an excellent location for starting other walks and also for visiting other areas too. From here it is easy road access to Shrewsbury, we have explored the Long Mynd and Church Stretton from here, also a number of other areas too. BTW, don't forget those chocks and levelling ramps as some of the pitches slope.
There are some photographs taken at Ebury Hill and its environs in my photobook, link in my profile, if you want an idea of what the site is like ( you won't see many caravans or pictures of pitches in the pics, but you will definitely get an impression of how beautiful and quiet this site is)

We visited this site and where impressed by the amount of wildlife a variety of small birds during the day finches warblers ect even a cuckoo and owls at night. Rabbits at dusk badgers and a fox were also seen making up for the lack of toilet and showers. We also found the managers and staff very friendly and helpful.

This year was the second visit to this site, although it is out of the way for travelling into Shrewsbury and surrounding area (you really need a car or other form of transport if travelling in a large motor home) it is a nice quiet site for a restful holiday, We shall certainly be visiting this site again
