Just came back from a weekend on this site, the camping section is on a slight hill but has good drainage. Its a little windy but the sea view is great ( been a few times on this site ) It has a park for the the kids to play on and a football pitch. Its only a 2 minute walk to the beach which is great for the little ones to play all day and the sea doesn't go out too far. The toilet/shower block is a little far from the the camping section but clean with free showers. The on site shop is ok and the food was nice or five minute walk off the site there is a fish & chip shop with a pub next door so there's some where to go at night. Also with sea view, and for you old romantics you get to see the sun set over the sea which is a really nice scene. The staff on this site were really nice and helpful.

 This was a lovely site

Cons

The pitches are on a slant
Its expensive (£20)
Shop expensive (£3.99 for desposable bbq)
Showers/toilets open air

Pros

Well maintained
Beautiful walks as its next to the beach (over a railway line so kids be careful)
Shop is handy (note con) and has take away in
Views
Even though we stayed next to the road it was well sheltered and not noisy
Dogs welcome
Trawsdir is over the road and are both owed by sames people

Would I stay again, Yes but as a treat due to expense.

I had not been to this campsite since a young child and had fond memories. I was hesitant to return in case they were spoilt. How wrong I was and it was everything I remembered and more! Staff were very helpful and friendly including the shop who opened up earlier on one morning! They also serve hot food at reasonable prices.

Facilities have much improved and although I thought the price was a little steep for £20 per night the showers / toilets were spotless with FREE showers (if you want power showers don't go camping). There is a child friendly play area should you have children and a small boat yard for those with boats. (Children appeared well behaved!)

Views are tremendous and although on an incline it did the job for my girlfriend and I. We were blessed with good weather and everything is accessible while still feeling on your own with a local pub and a fish and chip shop in case the camping cooking is too much!

Overall its a fantastic place to camp for families and couples and comes highly recommended from a cantankerous and fussy individual.

Close to the beach and the wayside pub.

The toilet blocks need flattening and because it's not far of a hole in the ground, they're dirty all day. The shower have no seats or shelves to place your shampoo, shower gel etc.

If your in the bottom 2 fields your near the beach with easy access, train runs nearby from about 6am onwards, so sometimes woken by it. But your a long way from the toilet block. However if your in the top 2 fields your further from the beach but nearer the toilet.

Pot washing facilities are dire and again filthy mostly, and very limited.

This site has excellent facilities, toilets are clean and plentiful, showers are equally clean and very good washing up facilities. The site is maintained to a high standard and the staff are all very friendly. Pitches are provided with ample space and excellent access to water taps and electric.

Within a short walk there is access to lots of shops and restaurants and across from the site is a superb beach. There is so much to do in the immediate area it would take too long to list and it makes an ideal site to tour from.

Would go again.

Have just returned from 8 days camping on this site. I found that the facilities were old fashioned and need to be updated. This is mainly a static caravan site which has 3 areas for tents and feel that the facilities for tents is not a priority. The showers cost 50p for 5 min and I just could not get the temp right and felt the pressure was low. However the toilets and showers were cleaned regularly.

The pitch was quite sloping and the ground was difficult to get tent pegs in in some places as stony under the grass.

Electric hookup is now available although they have not yet updated the website to say so.

The position was fantastic with an amazing view of the sea. Unfortunately most of the time we were there the weather wasn't great (High winds and heavy rain at times) so we paid the price of being so close without all the benefits of being so close to the beach. Could see how lovely it would have been in glorious weather!

Having the shop and takeaway on site is very handy and food was good with excellent service.

The people in the reception were very friendly and even gave us a refund for a couple of nights when, because of the weather we decided to cut our losses and go home.

The pub The Wayside is just a short walk away and looks rather dated inside, however the food was lovely, although the price for a main meal started at £9 so not the cheapest, but worth it.

Overall, I thought Barmouth was great for families and would return, but would choose a more sheltered site unless the weather was glorious!

Just come back from a Bank Holiday weekend on this site. As previously said the location and view was fantastic. Brilliant Beach is literally 1 min walk away. Ideal for rock pooling and also boogie boarding both of which we did.

The slte is kept clean and tidy. The shop was ok but I thought expensive. Showers and toilets are not the best and we have definitely had much better on other sites. I was told their sister site just up the road has state of the art showers. Our pitch was on the right going into the site. This was a sloping field which I have never had to deal with before. The first night fine, 2nd and 3rd nights were very windy. My tent couldn't take the wind and was bending all over the place (probably not the best quality tent) but luckily we managed to get through the nights - some tents got ripped and when we were leaving I noticed that someone had left theirs by the bin. So I would definitely check out the wind speeds before visiting this site.

Really good location for a campsite, really close to the beach and all the facilities you need.

Slope of the camping fields is not ideal but not too much of a problem.

At £22 per night you would think they would have noise pollution control as we had a group of young teenagers on the field all weekend playing dance music right through from breakfast until the early hours of the following morning. They seemed to have enough employees around the site clearing bins etc and doing other jobs to have allocated a little time\consideration.

And a toilet/shower block nowhere near the people in tents but slap bang in the middle of the static caravan section. Duh!

Take-Away on site but overpriced frozen Findus meals are not what we had in mind.

The location and view from this site is fantastic to say the least. The site was spotless with the bins, toilets, showers etc being cleaned very regularly. The only negatives we have are:

1. The site was very very windy (to be fair this may be a one off as we were told it was not normally this windy).

2. The showers are not very hot and have a very low pressure, if you turn the pressure up then they get even colder. To add further insult to this they charge 50 pence for 4 minutes use which considering the site is £22/night to stay at I think is a bit much.

Barmouth which is a great little town is about 2.5 miles away and has almost everything you could need. A special mention must be made of the camping shop on the way into Barmouth from the site (its on the left), they are very helpful, dont rip you off and if you are in need of help will even open up for you out of shop hours, just call them!

What a lovely campsite, lovely friendly campers, beautiful surroundings, a lovely safe haven for everyone. The beach is right on your doorstep which is is a godsend if you have you small children.
The camp has all your needs catered for shop, takeaway, showers & toilets, launderette, pub 5mins away. The staff are always there to sort out any problems, it really is a break from humdrum of working life.
Its central to all the local villages ie. Port Merrion, Port Madoch (not sure how you spell that village), there's also Shell Island and most importantly Barmouth, which is a lovely place to visit as it has great shops and excellent eating places ie the lion hotel.
