I was just passing through the area on my bike and only spent one night.
The owner was great, very friendly guy and Saturday night barbie was a lot of fun
It's a small and quiet site, there were only a few caravans when I showed up.
There were just a few and basic toilettes, hot water, nothing fancy but that's all I needed.
Owner only wanted £5 for the night so great value for money.
Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed two night stay at this lovely quiet site, whilst visiting burghley horse trials. Owner very helpful and friendly giving advice on best route to take to burghley house, where to walk my dogs and providing delicious barbecue on both nights with home products. He even boiled water to fill my flask when my stove packed up.
Toilets basic but clean and although no showers was plenty of hot water to wash at sink. Local pub within easy walking distance had good menu (info on site) but not used by me so can, t comment. Will definitely be returning next year. Would give 10/10 if had shower.

Just returned from 2 nights at the site, very quiet & peaceful,
The manager is very helpful. Site slopes but ramps/wedges are supplied
If you go don't take any sausages/burgers eggs etc, he has an abundance of local produced produce,
Very convenient for Stamford & Rutland water,
Had a bit of a problem getting the car up the slope due to the rain we have had, but some guys on the site gave me a push, many thanks to you,
Only criticism no toilet paper or soap in toilets
Enjoyed the stay

The site was is just on the edge of stamford, next door to a garden centre.
Greeted by a very friendly chap who gave us a choice of pitch and thankfully away from the burghley horse lot. Nothing really to do on site.
Toilets we're primitive but adequate for a few nights. Pitched up spoke to the very friendly chap again about takeaways, and he gave us a couple off menus off places that delivery right up to the gate. He was also doing a barbie on site that night too.
All in all very pleasent and at £7 the night very cheap.

Just returned from a truly relaxing weekend at this site, stayed in front field (nearest entrance)Met by Steve the warden very helpful. Even collected local made sausages from butcher while we set up.
Friday night was fish and chip night and we ordered this through Steve for delivery, he also organised takeaway if required.
Toilets were as said before basic but quite acceptable, definitely adult only site.
Stamford was just a quick drive away and a garage nearby. Will definitely be back to this hidden gem for more R and R

Good site for relaxing. Apart from a greeting on arrival, including choice of pitch, we never saw the owner again. Pitches in large field have a slight slope, but owner has left blocks, sleepers etc available to use. Some previous reviews have commented on the toilet facilities. These are Portaloo type, but are cleaned regularly and are no worse than some you would use at shows and events. There is an adjacent fully enclosed field where the dogs can safely run free. Again, contrary to earlier reviews we never noticed any dog fouling. Convenient location for Stamford (1.5m), Rutland Water (Fishing, walking, cycling, bird watching etc) and Oakham (20 mins on Route 7 bus). Nothing on site to amuse/occupy children. Overall, a site we would use again if in the area. £10.50 per night, all in.

Stayed here for 2 nights. We found the site steward very helpful and friendly, he gave us take away menus which could be delivered to the site.
There is not a shower on site and the toilets leave a little to be desired.
It was quite busy on the site but it would appear a lot of people store there caravans as a lot where empty.
There are a couple of pubs within walking distance and Stamford is a 5 minute drive or 45 minute walk away and is well worth a visit especially it you pick up a delicious meal from cook which sell quality ready meals and are delicious.
At £10.50 a night it is great value

I stayed very happily on this site for three weeks and for me its appeal was due to (in order of importance) the warden, the low price (just £5 for my campervan without electricity) the convenience of the A1 and the pleasant location between Great Casterton and Stamford.
The warden was brilliant - he was always there to help if there were any problems which was very reassuring. The only facilities on site are some very dodgy toilets, but if you can cope with that, it's a really good place for adults; I don't think it's suitable for young children because there is no provision for them and the toilets could be a problem.

I stayed at this site for 2 nights for Burghley Horse Trials, yes the site is basic, there is no shower block, but motorhome had shower so was not bothered, but there are a couple of toilet blocks, with washing facilities, a place to full up with water and a chemical toilet disposal area. We were offered a choice of pitches and then just allowed to get on with it.
At £10.50 per night for two adults with electric we were more than happy.
We got lost and the Warden (steve) came and found us and guided us in. He was helpful and a real character throughout our stay. Anything we needed he could deliver he was brilliant fun and site was clean and quiet. I did not see any loose dogs or mess at all on site.

We spent two nights at this site recently and could have stayed a lot longer if we'd have had the time. We will definitely return.
We were very much welcomed when we arrived. We had a choice of pitches and were told where we could find everything we needed.
The site warden was extremely helpful, he gave us a jump when our van wouldn't start and lent us his battery charger.
He wasn't around the morning we left, we hope he reads this because we'd like to say a big thankyou to him.
The site is quiet and relaxing.
If you like Indian food definitely try out the local take-away, the warden will give you a menu, they deliver, it's delicious and very reasonably priced. We had a meal for two and had enough left over for lunch the next day!
