Popped to this site in our camper for a night whilst visiting family in the area, and definitely plan to pop back. Steve, the site warden, is a real character, really friendly, beavering around the site helping campers out with all manner of eventualities (e.G. Carrying heavy items on the front of his quad, jump-starting a motorhome off his pick-up, tracking down the owners of a takeaway curry that's going cold!). On making a mess of his directions, he even came and found us at the local garage on his quad to guide us in!

The facilities are basic, so unless you've got your own (i.E. Showers, washing up facilities), you might struggle beyond a couple of nights. But for £10.50 for 2 of us, a dog, and electric hook-up, who's complaining?? Very clean and tidy, with no evidence of the dog muck phenomenon described a few years ago. As for hearing the A1, yes, I suppose if you listen out, but it isn't over-bearing in the slightest (and we were at the 'A1 end' of the site).

Are already looking a dates when we can head back with friends and head out into the local village and/or Stamford for a few drinks. Thanks for having us!

My daughter, husband myself and dog stayed at this site for the purpose of the Burghley horse trials on 03/09/09-07/09/09.On arrival at the campsite the warden could not have been more helpful. He assisted with stabilising the caravan and provided all the information we needed quickly to sort out eating out etc.

The site was brilliant, mowed grass, nice flowers and quiet.I had read the previous reviews of the owners dog leaving a mess but in the 3 days we were there I never saw ant dog mess at all. Yes there aren't any showers which could be a bit of a problem if you are camping but we had our own shower.

The warden held a barbecue on the Saturday night which seemed a regular thing and seemed to be enjoyed by everyone. The main thing is that we felt secure, CCTV is on the site and the warden is very prominent. We will definitely be visiting this site next year.We paid £28 for 3 says with electric a bargain!

What can I say we had a great Easter weekend at this site apart from the weather but that's England for you. The chap that ran the site was friendly and helpful especially when he gave us a takeaway menu serving a wide variety of food, lovely, no cooking.
There are two pubs very close by and a garage where you can get the essentials. My only niggle was toilet facilities very basic. We will definitely be returning we enjoyed every minute.

This is a small and quiet site which I have been visiting over a few years. Recently a double toilet and basin block has been added to the single Portaloo, and flowerbeds were looking really nice.

The site is on a slight slope, but seems to drain very well.Useful last summer! It's in a lovely location, just 5 minute's walk into the village, which has 2 pubs, and a great cafe at the garden centre next door. The warden is friendly and helpful.

Stamford is a beautiful town with a large market every Friday, and great shops and pubs.

We stayed recently and were looking for a nice quiet site. This ticked all the boxes for us. Help was on hand if you needed it. Credit where credit is due the warden was excellent despite being on crutches.

All in all I would recommend this site as it is close to the picturesque town of Stamford and set amid lovely countryside.

The facilities are basic which was fine for us. If you want showers etc then you will pay far more. This is value for money

We have just spent Easter at this site, along with my brother and partner who were in a tent. We normally go to caravan and camping club sites, but have been trying out a few smaller certified sites. This was a very basic site, which is what we wanted. The warden could not be more helpful, he went round on a regular basis to fill everyone's water barrels and also left spare ones. The majority of caravans are there on a permanent basis. You could hear the traffic from the A1 but this was not a problem. It probably would not be everyone's idea of caravanning/camping, but if you want peace and tranquility - this was it.

Can not say a good word about this site most vans were long term the warden said it was a quite site but he rode around on a Scrambler bike. We had to more the van off by hand to the car.
The only good thing was the area is there is a lot of places to visit

I visited this site on the 7th October 05. The site is accessed at a place called Toll bar of the little Casterton road, on you right if you are coming from the A1. Which if you are travelling south on the A1 is the 3rd left after leaving the A1 slip road.

The site is on a slope and for some reason they like you to pitch across the slope. Most of the vans on site were seasonal pitched. Unusually a cable is provided for your EHU, There is a Portaloo on site for the use of, and the price was £6 pn for the caravan electricity and 2 adults, But was surprised that each child was an extra £3 ppn!

A pub was conveniently around the corner and Stamford is some 2½ miles away. Apart from the price for kids my biggest gripe would be that the sit wardens dog, lets just say it was leaving deposits all over the place. Would I go again, well for a stop of it ideal just a stone’s throw from the A1, but expensive if the are more the 2 of you in your party. Personal I would have liked to have been a bit further away from the A1 as the traffic noise was loud at times.

Arrived here in the pitch black drarkness to meet some friends for a chilled out weekend. The warden was quite nice and gave us a rundown of the local places to eat and drink so can't fault that. There is one porta loo, I didnt use it so can't comment. A fresh water tap and chemical waste. We were told when phoning to book - it was £6 a night, which wasn't a bad price, basic site nothing on it until this morning when the guy came for our payment and charged us £12 a night. The reason behind this was for the 2 kids £3 each.

Stanford town is quite nice we went there Saturday afternoon not massive but had a little market well worth a look round. Saturday night the warden gave us vouchers for a free desert for the local pub (Crown Inn)with any main course so we ate there very friendly staff food was well presented and hot and not a bad price either. If it hadn't been for the dog muck and being charged double the price quoted I would say for £6 this was a excellent little site if you have your own loo/shower.
