Spent three nights here and would definitely return. The tent park is on the opposite side of the road to the main area with the swimming pool and club house. The pitches are well marked out and they are very strict about not going over the red markers but there was plenty of room for our large 8 man tent, utility tent and car.
There are shops and arcades just a short walk away and nice dog walks and coast close by.
There is a friendly security guard who comes round every so often.
The reception has a small shop which we didn't use as we found a Tesco about 15 minute drive away.
The swimming pool is nice with a jacuzzi, slide and outdoor seating area. There is also a bar attached to it so the adults can enjoy a drink while watching the kids swim.
The tent park has a security gate for which you have to pay a £20 deposit for a key fob to get in but you get this back when you return it at the end of you stay. You also get a key to use for the toilets when the reception is shut.
The toilets and showers were spotless, never had to queue even though it was school holidays.

Stayed here for a weekend and would come back. The park itself was very nice and situated in a very good position not too far away from the shops, the park was separated with tourers, on one park, statics on another then chalets in the main part where the pool & clubhouse
The pool is lovely, it has a jacuzzi, and a slide and a little grassed area outside
The clubhouse has a large hall where there is entertainment on including big money bingo. The security is very good with a security man patrolling the park
However there was just two details which should be looked at
1) the toilet block is very poor and definitely needs refurbished (maybe rebuild and made larger)
2) more child friendly as there was hardly anything for the kids, they were not allowed in the hall as bingo was on (which is right) but they weren't allowed to play on the pool table, only over 18s and there were fruit machines for the over 18 again. They do have the space to maybe put in a games room for the little ones, there were a lot of children there but nothing to do, even the play area on the tourers park only has a climbing frame. Again plenty of room to put in a proper park with swings and roundabouts
Worth a visit especially older couples with no kids

Spent eight days here with three children 11, 10 and 7 and a dog over Whitsun bank holiday week.
Good points.
Very spacious pitch (BUT we were sited beneath blossom trees so every time you opened your tent doors (tried all three sides) your tent was full of blossom,!)
The site was spotlessly clean. On booking in you are given a black bag and you leave at front of your pitch when full and they replace it with another bag, rubbish collected several times a day and litter pickers seen frequently clearing the site, excellent.
Toilets and showers always spotless and maintained very well. Plenty of hot water.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Small shop at reception, basic essentials, some goods very overpriced £3.30 for 6 rashers of bacon!
A little ice cream van and hot food van visits the site, good value at £1 for a burger or jumbo hotdog!
Kids park adjacent to touring field (council run I believe, and nice dog walking area beyond that)
Launderette adequate, has machine that dispenses powder and conditioner for 20p each, so need to buy big packets.
Leysdown is short walk and has all usual seaside amenities, good takeways and market type shops. We also found a lovely family club that was free entry and did excellent family entertainment and karaoke with free kids play area and bouncy castle in its grounds.
NOT SO GOOD POINTS
Absolutely no activities for children on site.
The clubhouse is a licensed bingo hall, which means NO under 18s are allowed in the main hall until bingo is finished at approx 8.45pm. If you want to play bingo, You can leave them in the pub area with adult supervision, but there is nothing for them to do, except watch sport on TV! They are not allowed to use the pool table if under 16 and after 8.30pm over 18s only allowed to play. There is a small arcade area for the children at the entrance but again kids are supervised by you in there.
When we did go in to the hall with the kids we sat at the back and were totally blocked in by buggies and the only way out was using the fire exit to get to the bar / toilet!
The disco started at 8.45, the kids didn't know any of the songs and didn't want to stay until 10pm to see a live band so we went back to the tent!
Despite being school holidays, there was no entertainment for the children arranged at all on tue, wed or thurs and only late evening at weekend.
The only toilet (one for ladies) is shared with the swimming pool users!
The swimming pool is lovely but under 14s are not allowed without an adult, so you must go with them and stay there. There are only 4 seats around the edge to watch so you spend most of the time standing.
The beach is really all slimy mud, not suitable for playing on.
Would we go back. Probably not

We visited the site for a long weekend in july at the start of the school holidays. We had a great time, even though we were moving pitches due to our extended stay, the staff were more than helpful. It was quite hilarious moving a cabonan frame tent about 6 times. The ablutions were spotless, staff very friendly and the entertainment in the club was fantastic. The barrier at the entrance is a brilliant idea. Ill definitely be going, again and again and again

Have just returned from Priory Hill touring Park in Leysdown. Having read previous reviews I was interested to see what had been changed / improved. Firstly, new card operated barriers have been installed at the entrance which I think are a great idea. They keep out unwanted arrivals. The main office has been refurbished along with the toilet block and they all look very spick and span. I saw that a previous reviewer said that access to the shower block is through the office. This is incorrect as we paid a refundable £20 deposit to get a key which gives you 24 hour access via the door outside the office / shop. The shop offers a basic supply of items that you may run out of but remember that they are not a Tesco / Morrisons etc you will only find a selected number of goods. We were happy with the selection offered. Overall, pitches were of a good size and all amenities were very close. Entertainment at the club was only at weekends but bear in mind that we went early season that was only to be expected. Food in the club was great and lots of it is made from scratch in their kitchens, a refreshing change from boil in the bag. It was great quality and very well priced. I would definitely come again and think that most if not all of the points raised in previous reviews have been addressed. Overall very helpful people and peace, quiet and a great weekend

Just spent a lovely weekend here, Weather for October was great!
Previous reviewer mentioned the road at the bottom of the field. They were right, don't park there as cars just belt past at all times of day and night. Generous pitches were clearly marked, set around perimeter of tree lined field, with additional less sheltered field adjacent. All had electric hookup and most looked reasonably even and well drained. Toilet block is tired and dated, but clean and functional. Mens has 4 showers, 1 Toilet and 3 urinals, 3 sinks.Ladies had 4 showers, 3 toilets and 3 sinks. Entry via deposit paid key. Local fish and chip shop 200 yards from site, other shops nearby for groceries etc.Site is well lit at night and felt safe. Touring park is part of much larger complex, offering clubhouse and pool.
Staff at touring park were pleasant, however we booked online and after a follow up call never even received a booking acknowledgement.
Great place to stay for access to local beach and walks for dog. We are glad we came here off peak , due to the fact it was obviously geared for families and children at high season. We found the relative peace and tranquillity of low season exactly what we were looking for! Would definitely visit Priory Hill again.

On arriving at Priory Hill, our first impression was not good. It’s a little shabby and old looking. There’s the main field, then the second field next to it, which gives you the sea view. Unfortunately, you are not given a choice of were to pitch, and we were put in the first field. It’s a shame we was not told this when reserving a pitch with them on the telephone. The second field links on to playing field for the kids, which is ideal for footy etc. The beach is only a few minutes away, and an ideal fishing place. You can even park all day on the beach for just £1, via another park a little further up the beach.
The reception, showers & toilets are all in one tiny little block. You also have to walk through the reception area, to use the facilities, which can be a little off putting if you’re in your pj’s whilst guests are booking in. It made me laugh, when I sent one of my boys over to the reception, to ask where the shop was. Only to be told, the few items stacked up on a unit in the corner of the reception was the shop.
There are about 33-35 touring pitches, and only 3 toilets and 3 showers in the ladies. In the men’s it’s even worse, with only 1 toilet & 2 urinals, with 3 showers. On the first morning, off all four of us trot, to use the showers before it got too busy. After getting undressed, ready to turn the shower on, we found out there was no water, not even in the taps. Apparently, it’s something to do with the pump. First thing in the morning, it has a problem working! During the day also, the reception staff, hold back all the doors leading in to the men’s / ladies toilet / shower room. It’s not ideal if you want a bit of privacy, and if you’re drying your hair, using the hairdryer, you can see straight into the men’s toilets. These facilities are the worst we have seen since touring for the last two years.
They do have a swimming pool, but if your children are under 12, you must accompany them. The bar is ok, and the drinks are reasonably priced. The evening entertainment was ok. Saturday night it was Badness, who was absolutely fantastic.
The town is only 5 minutes walk away, and has a lovely seaside atmosphere. The toilet facilities along the sea front, in the town, were brilliant! Well done to the lady that constantly cleaned them. They have showers & separate baby and disabled facilities. I’ve never seen public toilets so clean! Also next to the toilets, are some large bouncy castles. Of which only charge £2 for an hour use. Our kids are too old for all that now, but I was surprised with the price. They only have a little shop, with not a lot of choice and overpriced. The nearest tesco’s, is a 30 minute drive away, but they do have several places to eat.
The site is very dated and the toilet facilities were very poor, but being so close to the beach front, we would come back again for a weekend, as we are beach lovers. We are hoping to upgrade our caravan, with a better bathroom and separate shower, which means we would not have to use their facilities.
Overall, the town itself is nice but small, and ideal for the quick weekend break for relaxing or fishing.

We have just returned from a very wet and windy long weekend at Priory Hill.
As there have been no reviews on this site since 2006 we were not really sure what to expect. A previous review said that the pitches were very narrow. This must have been changed as the pitches all seemed to be very spacious and there were big gaps between pitches. We had our caravan, awning and car and still had plenty of space.
The site is massive but the touring area is quite small and cosy. There is a little shop, nice showers and toilets which were very clean. These are all in the first field as you enter. This field has a more sheltered end with lots of trees or a more open end which looks out to sea. If you go down the track through the trees there is another field which has about 15 pitches on. This was where we stayed. All the pitches on this field have a lovely view of the sea and are right next to the coastal park.
The park has a climbing frame and slide for the kids and loads of space to play football or run about. There are also lots of rabbits around which we loved watching. The site does not allow ball games but this is not a problem as the park is so close. There is a cafe just over the other side of the park and a small golf course. The beach looks lovely but we didn't really get down there because of the weather.
Over a quiet road from the touring park is the main site where there are loads of old fashioned chalets. It actually looks really nice and there is a big grassy area in the middle. On the main site there is a big clubhouse which has entertainment and pool tables. We didn't use this but it seemed very popular. There was also a great indoor swimming pool with a slide which our kids loved. There is a bar right next to the pool so if you had older children you could sit in the bar and watch them in the pool. There are big patio doors which open onto a nice outdoor area with tables and chairs and sunloungers for when the weather is a bit better. There is also a laundry room next to the swimming pool building.
Leysdown-on-Sea is quite a nice place with some amusements, take aways, a convenience store and a few other shops. There are also a few pubs and clubs. Its like a real seaside / holiday town. It seems to be the only place on the Isle of Sheppey which is worth visiting as there is not much else to see. There are some nice beaches and some beautiful countryside but you need to go off the island to get to the other attractions in Kent.
In all, Priory Hill is a very nice site with lovely views and plenty of open space. We would go back to stay there but maybe we will pick a time when the weather is a bit better as the driving wind and rain off the sea was a bit much for everyone.

Spent August Bank holiday week at this site.
Priory Hill is a huge complex, made up of caravans, chalets and the touring park. Made very welcome on arrival and shown map touring to show us where pitch was. But touring isn’t huge. Staff very friendly and willing to help. Even phoning her daughter to try and find out the time of an event.
Pitches flat, but small. Our unit didn’t fit on to our pitch but we had warned them. They said it was fine as we could use a bit of the pitches either side as no one would be using them. There are two touring fields, we was in the first with the toilet block/reception cum shop at the top end and the coast road at the other end. The second field opens straight onto the coastal park. In the coastal park is a children’s play area. But if your children are young you would need to go with them. Think all pitches have EHU (extra charge), we didn’t use this so not sure.
Showers and toilets were cleaned daily, and they are locked at night. Access is gained by a key. You pay a deposit for the key, which is returned at the end of your stay. And despite site being full, never waited for either.
The pool, launderette and clubhouse are over a small quiet road on the main site. Pool quite small and busy, but my kids enjoyed their time there and on the slide. Launderette adequate but we had to queue as people who were staying in the chalets, for the whole summer, were doing their weekly wash! Clubhouse very busy and crowded, but reasonably priced.
Straight out of the back gate at the bottom of our field, and over the road was the beach. Nice café there too, does lovely bacon butties. Beach ok, but be warned as the current is quite strong. Small scare when the rubber dingy started to drift out to sea. Took a bit of strength to tow them back in even though I was able to stand. Also be warned at high tide of the hidden wooden pillars, part of an older groyne. Received a nasty graze form one of these. But do take time to search for the hundreds of tiny crabs that appear on the beach at dusk kids found this fascinating. Also if you leave the site by the back gate and turn right take a walk along the sea wall, sea on one side of you and coastal park on the other. You will find another nice café……. Lovely hot chocolate, with marshmallows here.
Leysdown is not that great. Consists of several pubs, cafes, and loads of amusement arcades. Also a costcutter and a lovely bakery, fresh bread and cakes. But this is a great base to explore Kent.
There was trouble on site one night, security dealt with it swiftly and the people were made to leave early the next day with no refund.
The only other down side to this site was the coastal road, at night it became the local rat run for the boy racers. Very disturbing for us, as we were pitched right next to road.
Would defiantly go back but request a pitch away from the road.

This was my first ever camping trip and I was not put off or disappointed! Upon arrival the staff were very helpful although did state we really should have booked as especially in peak season they are often fully booked. We paid £13 for 5 adults and a dog which consist of a 4 man tent, a 2 man tent and 2 cars . This price included the use of the pool which was great and clean and the club house and entertainment of an evening. As I say being a first time camper the thing that impressed me most was the cleansiness of the showers and toilets although I can imagine in peak season you would have to queue for them. We will definitely return to this park.
