We spent the early May bank holiday weekend at Priory Hill. It was nice and peaceful and we had a corner pitch in the big field. The pitches are all around the outside of the field, leaving the centre of the field to manouvre around in. Not too sure how far out you are allowed to come, but think this is rather necessary as the pitches were rather on the narrow side. With one side of our 19ft motorhome against one side line of our pitch, and the awning beside it, that was the pitch taken, with just a couple of foot to get out the front of the awning. We were lucky in that the pitches either side were empty. Had they been in use, we would have been looking out directly onto the back or front of someone else's tent/caravan/motor home. Couldn't have parked the other way with the motor home at the back going across as then if the other pitches became occupied, they would have had to take their set up down to allow us to get out.
Other than that though, it was a really peaceful and well kept area. You have a key that lets you into the toilets/showers which were clean and plenty of hot water (although small shower cubicles aparently - I didn't use them). Key also lets you into the washing up area and elsan disposal point. We are not the 'clubbing' type, but my Husband & friend did go in there, but didn't stop long as it was very noisy and very smokey. Ok if you like that sort of thing, we don't.
Easy walking distance from the sea, with some pedestrian access gates (although the one by us was locked shortly after our arrival and stayed locked for the duration of our visit unfortunately). The Garden Cafe across the road serves superb food which is excellent value for money. You can get anything served up in a take away - full english breakfast to sunday roast, and it is worth every penny. Park is well lit at night, but only gripe is that the road down to the site is almost restricted to single lane because of all the cars parked along it, probably belonging to holiday makers. If you want a quiet break away, and are not fussed with using the facilities, then it's a lovely place.
As for Leysdown itself, it is quite obviously a place where people go for a cheap and cheerful holiday, as would be expected with such a collection of holiday parks all centred in one place. It is rather noisy, with all the arcades etc. There are markets & boot sales, which are ok for a browse, but these tend to be selling the same kind of stuff found in any markets across the uk. If you want the more quiet & relaxed life, drive straight through Leydsdown past the Garden Cafe, and pull in to the coastal park which is much quieter and more relaxing - and just £1 for all day parking ;o)

June 2003 Our weekend at Priory Hill was our first camping expedition and we weren't disappointed. The staff were all really friendly and the site was very clean and well looked after, as were all the facilities.
Included in the price was use of the swimming pool, which the kids loved, and the clubhouse. This has recently been refurbished and was really enjoyable. Especially as you could get a decent pint of lager for only £1:50!
The toilets and showers were cleaned to a high standard and toilet paper was in good supply! The washing up area was also clean and of a high standard.
The pitch was a corner one and was near the play area so we could easily relax and keep an eye on the kids at the same time. We could also venture onto the sandy beach whenever we felt like it as it was only across a quiet road.
The site was quiet and well layed out. All in all we were very impressed with our first trip and are returning there again this weekend.

August 2001 Priory Park is quite a big place with many statics and other holiday homes within the complex, in addition to the tourers' field where we camped.
Very pleasant people, the facilities block also had the shop/reception incorporated, which seemed to prevent the monkey business you sometimes get in these places! Generally clean and we weren't charged for showers etc, although sometimes a bit busy at breakfast time and early evening.
The Club and takeaway (across the road with the holiday homes) were both excellent with a good range of entertainment, bars and swimming pool.
Leysdown has a few shops for day-to-day needs, but Sheerness is the big town. Off the Isle of Sheppy, Canterbury, Herne Bay and Chatham aren't far.
You can continue walking round the Isle of Sheppey, and in a clockwise direction you eventualy get to a naturist beach if that's your scene. Interesting views across the Thames estuary, memories of the old pirate stations on the sea forts!
Overall, we found the place excellent value.
