We love this campsite - its basic and back to nature ! The best thing about it is that you can have an open fire, you gather kindling yourself from the nearby forest and buy sacks of firewood for about £3 from the office. There is a small shop, selling mostly toys and gifts and the washing / shower / toilet facilities are basic but that adds to the fun. With woodland right on your doorstep, the kids had such fun just exploring the countryside. Quite small, so pre-booking is essential. Has the advantage that its only 10 mins away from Bath, nearby the village of Colerne has ample pubs/shops etc. Highly recommended if you want to get away from it all, be back to nature but still close enough to civilisation if required.

The site is basic. However the children can run wild and free , the adults can relax in front of a real camp fire!. Plenty to do with walks in the woods, discovering nature, climbing trees etc, campsite games, followed by a singsong and roasted marshmallows over a fire. Absolutely why I love camping The owners are fantastic with the children and very helpful.

Just got back from 2 nights at East Rock. Good site - everyone was friendly and the owners and their staff both very helpful and polite and full of advice for trecks. If you're struggling to find the site - get to Marshfield High Street and follow the signpost to Ashwicke. Its about 2 miles down and round the lane and, if you overshoot, about 300 yards back from the T-junction that you'll eventually end up at. Its a big entrance with a metal gate so don't be fooled by any other minor roads or tracks (like I was).
The toilets are basic but adequate and both fields were fully booked up so access to the toilets was limited. You can build you own fires which was a major pulling point - and sacks of wood are available at £2 each which saved a lot of scavenging in the dark.
In case you forget to set your alarm clock, the campsite is on the flightpath of several old spitfires who fly over at 9.00 a.m. until about 1.00 p.m.
But you ought to be well awake by then and enjoying the surrounds - Marshfield, Colerne and Box are all very pretty Wiltshire villages nearby and there are several walks around the area. Colerne has a couple of pubs and Marshfield has three (although only the Lord Nelson appeared to worth a visit). A good campsite in a lovely area that all groups can enjoy.

September 2005 I visited rockes east for 3 nights from the 1st to the 4th Sept, and found it a great place to camp. Toilets are basick but clean and hot water was free. The ability to light a camp fire was nice, although some people dont seem to be capable of using fire.
The guy who owns the place was very nice and his staff were all helpful, the woods have lots to discover, even a maze is hidden away not listed in its attractions. Well worth a visit in my opinion, but if you are walking or cycling as I did make sure you have lots of water before you start up the hill to the site as its steep and long. In fact its at the top of a hill and everything else from it is down and up other hills.

July 2005 Great site. Small and well maintained camping area. The toilet block is not very modern, but it is adequate. We went for the weekend and there was a birthday party in a huge marquee on the lower field so that was cordoned off. That was the only bad point really - the music was very loud and went on till late - we didn't mind too much but perhaps the owners should warn people that the site is used for these sort of events. The woodland itself is wonderful and we spent some lovely hours wandering round and following the trails. The other great thing is that they allow campfires - we paid £2 for a large bag of logs and cooked a good old spag bol over the flames. Nearby is Colerne (just about walkable, but road is busy) couple of fairly decent village pubs and a small shop. Bath is not far which would offer a lot more choice. Good little site and would happily recommend it.

August 2004 We spent one night here in aug and loved the site. Its very small and the toilets are very basic. But enjoyed the fact that we could light a camp fire and sit around it chatting .Also the woodland walks were interesting and the people who run the site were very helpful.

JULY 29th-AUG 2nd Another excellent time had at Warren Farm.
Only 2 little complaints and thats some areas are poorly lit at night and children on bikes without lights nearly knocked my son over one evening.. Would suggest that staff advise people with bikes to take a (bicycle lamp) .. We sure a fare few near misses.
Also the smoking in the restaurant and pub while we were eating was not very nice. Especially as the weather was nice and the smokers could sit outside, but as an ex-smoker i know i shouldnt comment .. lol.
However, everything else outways those two little bad points// The security is good, with a 7ft 2" security man on the gate at night you do feel secure-they also do regular drives around the site at night to make sure people are quiet.

Aug 2003 2 night stay. Thoroughly enjoyed the woodland walks which are a must. Shower facilities not great but better than not showering. Friendly owners. Brilliant idea of having places to have your own campfires and they sell huge bags of logs for just £2 each to burn on them. Location quiet and beautiful. If you visit, pitch in the field nearest the entrance as much quieter there and away from toilets and the inevitable whiffs you find there. Highly recommended

July 2003 Must have been the same weekend as you Adam as the Scouts were in the top field.
Great little camp site, the people that run it were very frendly, in fact we asked the lady at the site if she Knew any where on the Sunday that we could get food after 3.00clock and she offerd to make us sandwiches.
The walks through the woods are lovely there is a hidden victorian garden that lay undiscoverd for 100 years. the Toilets were not the cleanest in the world but were adequit, as Adam mentioned there was no issue with hot water, the owners have built areas wher you can have fires and sell fire wood. I would recommend this site it is set in a beautiful part of England a stones throw from Bath and the Cotswolds.

July 2003 We camped over a week-end on this small, friendly campsite located in beautiful countryside close to Bath. It has basic facilities (small shop, loos, showers) which were certainly adequate - we found hot water always available. Pitches are not marked out - which leaves freedom to place your tent where you want. The ground is somewhat uneven and we hit rock 2 inches down (though I think we were unlucky with the spot we chose).
A troup of scouts was in residence while we were there - but this didn't cause us any inconvenience (I suppose boys are less inclinded to wash / use the bathroom!)
The only down-side is that dogs seem to be allowed to roam loose on thet site so one is dependent on good-will of owners to clean up after their animals.
The woodland adjacent to the site has lovely paths, a badger "hide" and wooden sculpture trail. The shade was a relief on the hottest weekend of the year.
We'll be going back.
