I visited this site last year as part of a male group. This time I returned with my family and three other families over the Royal Wedding weekend.
The site was pretty much as per my earlier review. The site was busier this time due to it being a Bank Holiday weekend but was not totally full and was still quiet (although with the wind whistling round for a couple of nights it wouldn’t have been possible to hear any noise anyway). The pitches were flat well kept and spacious even with some of the large tents our group had.
I said in my earlier review that I wasn’t sure whether there was too much to do for young families if the weather was poor and, as we got some great daytime weather whilst there, I’m still not sure of this. However with good weather on your side the site and it surroundings are excellent.
Aberdaron with its beach and countryside is an excellent small and not over commercialised area. There are a number of walks around the area and the owners will provide you with details. The dining options in the village which we tried were all very good (The Ship Inn, cafe opposite ship and the fish and chip shop) and on the whole reasonably priced.
Parking in the village is now improved as the main car park is now open 24 hours. The on-site cafe still does excellent breakfasts (increased slightly in price this year) and ice cream and drinks at the site shop were cheaper than in the Aberdaron shops.
My children liked the site, my daughter liked playing in the various fields and areas on site, particularly one with an old rowing boat, so the lack of a dedicated play area wasn’t a problem.
When I asked her for a downside it was that water pooled on the surfaces around the sinks in the ladies; not a problem I noticed in the gents. My wife shared this view and also thought the washing up area was a little cramped, especially as there is only one draining area and two sinks. A member of one of the other families also had a cold shower although I think she must have drawn a short straw somewhere as they were fine whenever we had used them.
On the Royal Wedding day the owners also put up an outside tv and seating for the ladies to watch the wedding, laying on snacks and sausage rolls etc which was very good of them and is reflective of the relaxed and friendly feel of this site.
If you do go I would recommended continuing on the road down past the site and through on to the National Trust headland. The road then takes you up to the top of the hill from where you can see in all directions and even the coast of Ireland on a clear day. We went up just as the sun was setting on a Sunday evening and you would have to go a long way to get better scenery.
Definitely a site and an area I would return to again.

This site may be at the edge of the world and doubt we would have found it without a borrowed sat nav!
But what a wonderful and peaceful place! would stay for more than the 2 nights next time to make the 3hr drive worth it. Only travelled as far as Aberdaron and it's peaceful beach, which the kids all enjoyed for the 2 very unexpected hot and sunny days.
Site was very clean and tidy. Toilets and showers always clean and fully stocked at any time of the day or night! would recommend to families as lots of space for the kids to run around safely.

Lovely site, very picturesque and breathtakingly beautiful surroundings. Friendly atmosphere and kids had great time making new friends and catching up with old ones. Felt very safe and well looked after.
Site has a cafe which is a god send when in need of something hot but no energy to cook or wash up. Aberdaron has two lovely pubs The Ship and the Ty Newydd Hotel.
It also has a large open sandy beach perfect for picnics body boarding and paddling or making the odd sandcastle.
Definitely going again next year.

Absolutely brilliant site. A nice and organised campsite ran by a very lovely family. Beautiful views. A clean and spotless cafe with yummy food.
Toilets appeared very clean and bins were emptied regularly. Didn't get chance to use the showers this time but appeared to be clean and all the water was hot hot hot! No children's area but other than that all you could ask for in a family camping weekend.
Will definitely be visiting again

The site is located about as far west as you can go in North Wales without going in the Irish Sea! As such it is a little remote but is worth the effort of getting to.
The site is flat and spacious with hedges around the fields to dull the wind – these do block the view partially but are very sensible when the wind gets up. Pitches are spacious with an EHU and non EHU field along with a number of seasonal pitches.
The facilities are well maintained, showers are spacious and the reception area boasts a cafe area which is open from breakfast to evening. A full cooked breakfast for £4.50 including a cafetiere of coffee was good and very handy considering the remoteness of the site.
As well as a variety of meals they also sold drinks, crisps, cakes etc. There is no play area but the flat open fields make ideal play areas. Like the area generally, the site is peaceful and not over commercialised.
Aberdaron is a couple of miles away and the village boast 2 bars, one with a balcony overlooking the beach and coastline which is ideal on a sunny day. It can be difficult to park in the evening though as the main car park shuts around 7pm. A good option for an evening meal is the fish restaurant (Pen Bryn Bach I think it was) approx 5 minutes walk from the site. It has recently re opened under new ownership and served very good fresh produce. Booking is certainly advisable as it is only a small restaurant and with a local party in we were lucky to get a table.
The site is coastal and therefore can suffer in bad weather – there had been a storm the night before we arrived which had damaged awnings.
My only concern if visiting with a family would be that if the weather is bad there are limited options in the area for things to do. At £11 per night for a 4 man tent with electric though I thought this friendly family run site was excellent value and would certainly return for another long weekend.

This site has some really great reviews and considering we were struggling to book a site over the bank hols (it was a last min decision to go!), we felt reassured that it would be a pleasant site even though it was only 3* (we normally only stay on 4 and 5 star sites). Who went? 2 adults, our 3 kids(11, 6 & 4)and our Arkansas 7 tent (plus 2 visitors for the day on Saturday)!
We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and our pitch was well kept, clean and spacious.
We had a nice large area in front of our tent,(which did attract footballers from other parts of the site.)
Children on bikes (usually older ones on larger bikes) were given free reign to zoom around, nearly knocking me and my 4 year old over at times. But as the sun was shining, it gave a carefree feel to the site- if that's what you are looking for!
The on site cafe was fine - we only had toasted sandwiches there - we bought 4 cheese and ham costing us approx £13! However, when my mother-in-law bought hers, they generously gave her 2 long hairs as well!
It looked a clean cafe though and you could eat inside, outside, take away or even have it delivered to your pitch. They only accept cash though.
As for the toilets. Well 'rough and ready' as described in a previous review does spring to mind. Personally I found them to be dark, smelly (which we put down to the closely located chem. Disp. Pt as it was like a bad egg smell at times), and in need of a refurbishment or face lift. Clean? Well it was ok.
Showers? Hmmmm. Well, where to start!
2 showers for the whole site, spacious cubicles that look like anything could drop on your head, shower heads that were in need of a good clean or even better-replacing, costs 20p for approx 1 minute, we found them to be either uncontrollably scalding hot or freezing cold and yes we did use the dials to attempt to control it, and on my 2nd visit to the shower, I only had a trickle of water which was freezing and just awful. We didn't dare subject the children to them.Luckily for us, family were staying in Abersoch, so we used the facilities on their site to shower the kids(& us on the monday!)
The washing up area was small, with 2 sinks side by side and no water flow or space to put your clean dishes.
The campsite is in a beautiful location. It is rather well exposed to the elements being pretty much on the edge of the penninsula, so sundays winds felt somewhat powerful.
Aberdaron is tiny and quaint, has a gorgeous beach, not much in the way of shops. So go well prepared. The spar didn't sell alcohol or a few other things we needed, so on our trip to abersoch we stocked up. The nearest asda was 40 mins away. The roads leading up to the campsite are a little tight at times.
This is a 3 * site and obviously not to the standard we normally use - but it did only cost us £40 for 3 nights with EHU! But I do think previous reviews are a little misleading as to the standard of the toilets and showers.
Will we return- NO!

After a nice coastal walk from Aberdaron we drove to the end of the Lleyn Peninsula. You pass by this campsite, and there's also another slightly further on, but this one has the on-site cafe so that was the winner for us!
It's worth driving to the end though as the road climbs to a viewpoint at the top of the hill. Amazing views back towards Snowdonia and out to Bardsey Island. Gets a bit windy up there though!
Back to the site, the cafe was serving food late afternoon. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and showed us where to park the van. It was very quiet with only a couple of other vehicles on site, as well as the ones that look that they are permanently pitched.
Facilities were nice, clean and spacious. The showers in particular were huge! There's nothing worse than not having any space in a tiny shower cubicle, but these were very large areas. The 20p meters were a bit tight though. I'd only just got the temperature right and got my hair lathered up when the water switched off! Luckily I had enough 20p's with me to continue showering though.
There are views from the campsite but it's a fairly low-level site. The surroundings are very peaceful with fields of sheep around the edges.
We scraped enough money in the morning for a coffee and some food, all cooked to order. A good way to start the next day.
Be sure to look out for the heron in Aberdaron which as we drove by it was standing on the roof of the Post Office! The staff throw out food for him! Very photogenic little village with a nice stretch of beach, and the closest 'big' place to the campsite.
Thoroughly recommended campsite and area.

We found this campsite to be rough & ready but ok. The cheap cost reflects what you get. We pitched up in strong winds but being on the end of the Llyn Peninsula (miles from everything!)we expected it. If booking with a tent ask for shelter. Our tent was battered badly - pegs popped up, pole snapped, zip ripped - no sleep that night! Several families left site - just bad luck with weather. Most of the pitches including electric are taken up with caravans (many look like thay've been there a while). Pitches were decent size and flat. Quiet at night apart from tents flapping! The 3 basic loos - girls/ 2 - boys and two handbasins for each were fairly clean if a bit dark. The 2 showers used 20p for 2 mins and were ok, big cubicles but water flow was erratic. There are 2 sinks for potwashing squashed together but no real space for draining. Hot water ran v slow. Washing up got very friendly! The cafe was good for chips etc. No play area for kids but space in middle of field. Nearest supermarket 3/4 hr away in Pythwelli and of course slow windy roads so be prepared! Spar in Aberdaron. Scenery good and lots of walks near by. We saw seals, went rock pooling etc. Hells Mouth good for bodyboarding and Abersoch has lots of surfer shops. Plenty of nice beaches without much there.
Overall the family owners obviously have a lot on and don't have time for the pretty extras. The site is fine for good weather, those with caravans, or if you can rough it for a bit!But can't complain at the value.

Lovely site with clean toilets and showers. We booked another site in Aberdaron which wasn't great so we turned up hoping to find a pitch. The owner was super helpful and couldn't have made us feel more welcome. We arrived without tent pegs (don't ask !) and he provided us with loads.
Its a nice site for families and Aberdaron is just a five minute drive away.

Just arrived back and had to give a review of what is possibly one of the best holidays I have ever had.
The site is perfect with everything you need and everything working, there is a friendly atmosphere that you just can't get with the bigger sites. The cafe is worth the trip in itself. Loads to see and do in the area around the site and further afield (aberdaron has got to be the best little seaside resort hidden away from general view).
Only criticism is there isn't great access to the site (we had a trailer tent and it was fine but people with a large unit may find it a bit un-nerving because of the narrow roads)
All in all this is a site that we will be using again as soon as possible.
