Excellent camp site.
Being right next to the beach was perfect for surfing. Suited up at tent, beach all afternoon then straight into hot showers - no mess, never cold.
Showers: 50p for a 5 min token, can be combined for 10 mins max. Very clean and well maintained.
Pub: Did the job. Food was ok, was not expensive. Pool table available but no dart board.
Shop: An excellent 'proper' surfshop. New & secondhand boards for sale. Boards & kayaks for rent. Plenty of wetsuit choice.
Sands cafe (just over the bridge by the pub): Go there. Really good breakfast. Discovered it on last morning, want to try the rest of the menu.
Pebbles cafe half mile along beach was rubbish.
Planning to go back again but will try our best to avoid the wind. Take a windbreak or a van!

We (2 adults and 3 children) spent 4 nights at Newgale in our family tent. The pitches are not marked so you can pitch where you wish, which we prefer. The site is mostly level but there is a slight incline on one side.
The facilities were very clean and quite new. A shower was 50p, there was also washing up sinks. The site is in the bottom of a marshy valley right next to the beach.
The wind was relentless while we were there. When the tide is out the beach is very large and has a very gradual decline into the sea. It is popular for surfing.
Newgale has a pub, a surf shop (which sells basic food stuffs), and a cafe. It is very well placed for exploring the west Pembrokeshire coast from Fishguard to Tenby, and particularly for visiting the islands.
Beware, if you want to go to Skomer then you will need to start queuing at Martin's Haven at around 7am for a ticket even though all the written information says that boats leave at 10am. Nearby Solva was very nice, as was St. David's, and the beaches are plentiful and were not busy during our week.
The fee was £5 per person per night. We would stay again.

Been to this campsite a few times now. At £5 a night per person you can't go far wrong.
Good points
Lots of space.
Flat
Clean toilets and washing up facilities
Pub and cafe two minutes walk way
Surf school near by
Ok points
When there is bad weather you are a little exposed - but when good it is really good place to be.
When it has been raining a lot you need to avoid the puddles - these are easy to do and there is still lots of space.
I went one bank holiday weekend I went and they were full (i was gutted). However, even though it was 9. 30 in the evening the owner was cheerful and help book into another campsite near by.
I would go to this campsite again.

WOW!What a difference a season makes.
We found the site a few years ago and loved it. Although the site is the same, I have to say the atmosphere is not. Whereas the previous people always had a smile and a joke with the campers and made the experience a happy one.
Unfortunately it is not now the same. I must agree with BIGBASSET, my kids were told not to use water pistols as 'we are on a water meter', but what are they doing there if not to enjoy themselves.
We still love the location in spite of the drawbacks, but will think twice about going back. Having said all that I must say the toilet block is spotless and hardly any waiting time for the showers and the site is ideal for all the watersport enthusiasts as you can fall out of bed and almost land straight on the beach.

Great location, always loved the rolling hills of Newgale and North Pembrokeshire. A popular surf destination though other breaks work far better search them out!
Site itself is ok, basic. Shower block is very clean and of a good standard though we were reminded 'Im on a meter you know' even though you pay for the shower.
The area is sublime, the welcome frosty at times and unpredictable. Local pub is ok for a pint, the surf shop is outstanding and very helpful at all times hiring boards and suits and general groceries. Cafe round corner is awesome esp if you like cakes! And good food.
The site floods badly with a surprising small amount of rain but the weather was awesome so that was fine!
Will use again due to location

Just got back from Newgale campsite and was not disappointed, at £5 per person per night with no extra charges ie extra cars, tents, gazebos etc, you can't complain. There are 4 showers and 6 toilets (which closes at 12am but a night toilet is available) which were very clean (they did close the toilets/showers for about an hour for cleaning). You get a token for the shower which is 50p and lasts 5 mins which is ample time for a shower and doesn't create a queue.
You cross a small road, which can be busy at times, walk over the pebbles and you have a magnificent beach. There is also a pub right next to the site which does food at reasonable prices, also a small shop for essentials like milk and bread. A trip into the town is about 10mins if you want to go to Tesco and if you decide to go further afield Tenby is about 30mins away. The only drawback was that this side of Wales was very windy although ideal for the surfers.
Would definitely recommend this site, very family orientated and value for money.

On arrival, we were allowed to pitch just about anywhere there was a space, as long as there were 6m between neighbouring campers and 3m between your own group tents. All set up, and all we got was kids trundling through our pitch, but hey not too bad, we stayed for 3 nights at £5.00 per person so not too bad. The shower fee is 50pence for five minute tokens, The sound of the sea and the closeness is very nice and everyone was very friendly. Wife loved this site and would use again.

What a cracking site this is. I chose this site due to its close proximity to the beach so my daughter could bodyboard, fly her kite etc.
The facilities are clean, 50 pence gets you a 5 minute shower token. The ground accepts tent pegs easily. The site is in a handy location if you want to visit St. Davids, the Havens, Whitesands and Abereidy (our meeting point for a mornings coasteering)
Haverfordwest is a 15-20 minute drive away where you will find the supermarkets to stock up for the barbeque.
If I have to make one complaint about the site it would be that it is no place for flimsy or badly pitched tents. Due to the coastal location of the site means it gets the full force of the wind and there is nowhere to hide (except behind a bigger tent maybe).

Clean, tidy and well maintained. Friendly staff. No queues for showers, washing up etc and no noisy groups heard. Young groups not permitted.
Close to a great beach (but shame it is not regarded as being good for fishing) with fun walks along the rock pools and caves. Access to the beach involves walking across the road and climbing a pebble bank so not easy for the infirm.
Second hand books and videos for sale for charity (A Bucketful of Hope).
Will return if in that area.

Newgale was our first camping trip so I cant really compare it.
We thought it was a great site, right next to a lovely beach. It had a toilet & shower block which was very clean as it was closed during the day for short periods to be cleaned regular. There were other toilets available when being cleaned.
It was £5 per person per night, which I thought was great value! there was no booking in advance but there was plenty of space to pitch where you wanted, the weather was great so the ground was solid. On site was a food trailer selling hot dogs, burgers, chips etc and reasonable prices.
We also had a really nice meal in the pub next to the camp. There was also a cafe near by, nice food but a little bit pricey and it didn't open until 9.30am I'm an early bird so would of preferred it open earlier.
Newgale also has a surf shop where you can hire surf boards at really good prices.
Newgale was our first camping trip and made us love the whole camping buzz. We are returning to Newgale in 4 weeks time
