Newgale Camp site is a brilliantly located site, immediately adjacent to the long stretch of beach at Newgale. The site's new amenities have vastly improved the experience here, the showers are spot on.
The site owners do a great job in maintaining a happy and family friendly atmosphere at this busy destination.
Within 2 minutes walk of the site are The Duke of Edinburgh inn for good pub food, big portions and great for hungry kids. Newsurf shop stocks everything you need, from a pint of milk to trendy surf-clothing, wetsuits, boards and kayaks. Over the bridge is Sands Cafe, which does the best coffee and lunches in the area, lots of lovely hummus, olives, salads, baguettes and amazing cakes!
Highly recommend taking a 'Voyages of Discovery' boat trip from St. Davids to see lots of sealife up close. Newsurf at Newgale hire out surf equipment all year round if you prefer to be in the water.

We visited Newgale on many occasions during the season, I'm sure there is a dirty great magnet buried somewhere that keeps dragging us back. The weather through the season was horrendous & consequently the camping field was in a bit of a mess. We do sympathise with Les & Elaine who run the site, they tried very hard under very difficult conditions & always stayed pleasant & welcoming.
This is a very beautiful site & the prices are excellent. The only change seems to be that they now charge 50p for a lovely hot 5min shower in a well kept, clean toilet block. Come on whoever it is, turn that magnet on.

This campsite is in a fantastic location, with a beach just across the road.
On arrival you register at the caravan (the only one on site, and the only one allowed) and pay for your accommodation. You can't prebook, but when we were there there was plenty of space despite it being a glorious weekend. There are no fixed pitches, you literally pitch where you want, as long as you are 6m from the nearest tent, or 3m if in a group with the nearest tent. Some of the ground was a bit boggy, but they put posts in the ground there to let you know where not to pitch. We chose to pitch at the bottom of the slope at one side of the campsite, away from the road. We found that the noise from the waves crashing on the sea wall outweighed the traffic noise!
The only facilities on site are in the shower block. The ladies has 4 showers and more toilets (6?). Showers need tokens, which you pick up from the caravan for 50p when you want a shower. The tokens last 5 minutes and the machines are outside the cubicles. The showers were nice and hot and powerful, but if you needed to put another one in, you wouldn't be able to. I was able to shampoo and condition my hair and rinse thoroughly with about 1 min to spare. It does mean that if busy the queue would keep moving, yet you'd still have enough time to have a decent shower. Next to the gents is the washing up area with two sinks (but no hot water when I was there) and round the back are some cold showers for wetsuits.
There is a van near the shower block that does sausage baps etc in the morning if you don't want to cook. There is also a pub at one end of the site that also does food.
I'll definitely go back! The location and price are fantastic, and it's my sort of campsite. I think of it as a weekend campsite, as there is no electric. I want to go back now.

Having been born in Haverfordwest I know quite a lot about Newgale, as a kid parents used to take me by push bike to either Newgale or Broad Haven throught summer months. It has not changed all that much since then, but it is still lovely place to go back to. From Newgale there is a variety of different beaches/places you can visit and still use Newgale as your base. If you want a chippy you only have to travel up to Roch Gate to find a good one or go the other way towards St.Davids and there is another good one down there.
Along the coast road you can travel along to Broad Haven, Little Haven, Nolton, with lots of local pubs some of them do fresh cooked fish meals, also you can buy fresh fish from the boatmen to cook at home all good wholesome grub.
On the beach you can play all the games you want also fly kits go sand yachting the list is endless.

Really good! sheltered area and right by the beach. Pub food next door and great cafe along the road. Lovely open beach. Good for surfers, kite boarders, kayakers, children, peaceful holiday makers. Relaxed atmosphere in the campsite. Token showers - free to campers. Price of £5 per person. Can get busy and can be empty. Useful tourism info, recycling facilities, night toilets. Highly recommended.

There is nothing else I can say, that has not already been said in other reviews! new toilet block which is spotless, no restrictions on arrival times, just visit the little caravan with the flags on! Quite a well stocked little surfy shop next to the site and a fast food van on site with really great cheesy chips at reasonable prices. We have travelled past this site many a time getting the impression that the site just catered for surfers in small vans, with the typical attitude that it would cater for rowdy single sexed groups, I must emphasise that this is not the case at all, we had a really enjoyable stay here, and it is very family friendly. We will definitely return!

Newgale is a favourite of ours. We've been regulars at this site for over ten years, in tents and a camper van.
The big surprise this year was the upgraded toilet block. The toilet block used to be woefully inadequate when very busy, but I was pleased to find that the blocks have been refurbished and are now first rate. A free token gets you 5 minutes in the shower, long enough for a decent shower but short enough to keep the queues down. As before, they are very clean, but now much improved. There's also some cold showers round the back for a quick rinse after surfing. There's an adequate washing-up area in the same block.
I'm also pleased to say that the fees haven't been increased - it's still a very reasonable £5 per person.
I can't think of a better place to camp if you like the sea. Any closer to the beach and you'll be on the sand. It's also bang in the middle of the coastal path. On a sunny day, the walk to Solva and onwards to St Davids is simply stunning. There's a reasonably good bus service so a walk and bus ride back is a nice option.
The owners are friendly and are keen to filter out the chavs. Young groups are discouraged. As such, the site is rarely noisy at night, and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
If you decide to stay an extra night, pay before you hit the hay, or the dawn patrol will wake you early in the morning.
Choose your pitch carefully if heavy rain is forecast, as it is prone to flooding.
For some reason, there always appears to be hundreds of books for sale at random places around the site.
There's a pub right next door - it's OK but it seems oddly soulless.
There's a good shop next door to the site which sells just about everything you've forgotten to pack, as well as surf board and kayak hire.
'Sands' cafe is just outside the site. It's OK but not as good as it was a few years ago. A good option is the short drive to Solva for a big breakfast at the Cambrian hotel - it's the first building you see as you enter Solva.
If you like the sea, you'd find it very hard to beat Newgale.

Having visited for a third year running we were pleasantly surprised to find a total upgrade to the toilet and shower block. The new facilities were modern and clean and catered for all. Ladies and gents facilities are now large wet rooms with an increase in available loo and shower cubicles. Free tokens for showers and loo roll supplied are a very welcome.
The owners are very friendly and the site is always clean and quiet. It is prone to flooding in heavy rain, as we found to our cost last year, but if the weather is kind its a perfect location.
With the beach, and all the activities available, just over the road and the Pembrokeshire coastal path nearby you could not wish for a better place to relax.
No electricity available so if your staying for more than a couple of days refrigeration for chilled goods can be achieved by paying for the local store to freeze your cooler blocks at 0.15p per block.
We'll be going again next year.

Stayed for 4 nights at this lovely friendly site with my son 1st week of August and will definitely return soon. Nice clean free showers & very friendly & helpful staff, the only drawback is the awful pub (no connection with site) which is next door & I would certainly not recommend. Overall a lovely site & plenty of places to visit close by & at £5 per person well worth it.

Very nice campsite on a beach, which seems to be perfect for surfers. This is also the main audience there. Although the sea view of the campsite is blocked through the gravel dike, it's a lovely scenery there and coming down the road to Newgale is just stunning. You'll get a good impression through the photo on their website.
The toilet/shower block seems quite new and were convenient (4 hot showers for men, I'll guess the same for women, with free token for 5 minutes operation). The site is for tents + motorhomes/campervans only (not for caravans), which could be linked with the abscence of electric hook up.
Very scenic atmosphere with a warm welcome of the owners.
Recommend it.
