Have just arrived home from a two week holiday at this site, and can honestly say we had a restful time.
This site is ideally situated, only approximately 3 miles from Ayr and 10 from Turnberry. There was a bus service but you would have to investigate times on arrival at the site office.
The caravan site itself is off the main road and less than a 5 minute walk down to a small secluded beach.
It became apparent that it is a family friendly site, catering for all ages. The tourers and tents integrated with the statics, ample room given to all pitches.
Within the well attended grounds there is a small play area, which appeared to be well used and enjoyed by the children visting the park.
For the older children, entertainment is provided along with refreshments in an adequate, tastefully decorated lounge and function room.
The toilet and shower facilities were basic, but spotless, supplying copious amounts of hot water.
As with the toilets, the area for washing dishes and laundering clothes was at all times clean, and regularly checked by the warden.
Finally all the staff within this site were approachable, extremely pleasant and helpful to all ages, making it apparent that they wished you to enjoy your stay.

Our first ever camping trip was spent here and we found it to be an excellent choice. The shower blocks were spotless a little dated if anything but only cosmetically. Onsite shop was well stocked and had a bar which we didn't use so can't comment on it. One gripe was that the playpark was in slight need of improvement. Some of the chains had broken on some equipment resulting in a couple of nasty falls for my 3 year old. Park got quite noisy but all quiet about 11ish. Heads of Ayr farm park was excellent and we spent the whole day there with our boys 13,4 and 3. Slightly expensive but well worth it as it kept them all entertained. Also chip shop overlooking the beach next door to the amusements in Ayr was fabulous! Great time had by all!
After thought-Wouldn't bother visiting the beach though- it was dirty smelly and sand full of little sand flies. I certainly wasn't keen on my kiddies playing in the sand there! But that's not a fault of the caravan site!

Just spent the weekend at heads of ayr. Lovely clean site, toilets are spotless, loads of hot water for showers, shop sold what you needed milk newspapers etc, staff were very pleasant. There is a bar on site we never went it was too hot and sunny, some kids out playing in the park till about 1130pm then park very quiet.
We were not rushed off on the Sunday we didn't leave till after 11am. Some sites insist you are away by 10am.
Takes about 15 mins in to Ayr itself but plenty of nice beaches within walking distance of site.
Would recommend and will definitely use again.

We chose this site as for our 1st ever camping holiday. Our party consisted of 2 adults and 3 young boys aged 3, 5 and 9. Booked in for 8 nights and would`ve stayed longer had it not been for the fact our boat wouldn't wait to back to Ireland. Facilities were great, toilets and showers done the job, the shop had plenty of local info and takeaway numbers. Great spot with the very quiet beach only 10 minutes walk and everyone on the site very friendly. Our boys made the most of the park right outside the tent door and the fact that some kids were still playing until 10pm most nights didn't matter. Only gripe was midges, bloody things. We`ll definitely be back.

Picked here at the very last minute. We were not disappointed. Mostly a static site but the two touring/tent areas were good. EHU is 10volt. The showers and toilets were immaculate. The pub/club was good and prices not too bad but a great bonus was it was dog friendly. There was entertainment on in the club on the Saturday night and judging by the amount of people who arrived on Saturday. This must be quite popular.
Our dog loved the dog walk down to the beach (10 mins easy stroll) We will definitely use this site again.
P.S. The midges were vicious day and night. So if you go take repellant.

Very pleasant two days spent here after finding it and Ayr by chance. Fantastic views coupled with a deserted beach make this a great location and the campsite makes staying here a breeze.
The facilities were astounding for such a small place off the beaten track : A play area for kids, clean bathrooms with power showers, laundry, shop with daily papers, 20p costs for freezer packs, a bar open most evenings. The only downside could be the fact that the tents are pitched in the kids play area so it can get noisy - but they were our kids!
It was very easy to get to the beach down a gravel path and we had most of our meals down there. I cant recommend this place or the coastline highly enough.

Stayed at the campsite for two nights with the party consisting of two adults and 2 year old. The toilets and showers were very clean with the showers being warm and powerful.the camp site is very good for young children with big park to play in which is situated next to campsite. Didn't have any problems with children playing in the park in the morning. Nice beach just down the road.BBQ's are allowed so overall it was a very pleasent stay and we found it very welcoming.

Stayed at this site for nine nights and found it very clean and very well situated for exploring ayrshire. Tents and tourers are put together in a small field with a play park . Shop is well stocked with everything you need, toilets are kept clean as are the grounds and the club/bar has occasional entertainment and bingo. Would recommend this site and will visit again. Dunure which is only two miles from site has a small harbour, a ruined castle, a play park with tennis court and football park and the views are fantastic. There is also a great restaurant which does nice lunches and dinners. Spent a full day there with kids.

We thought this site was great for kids as there was a good play area. The downside to this is that the play area is right in the same field as the tents and trailer tents.....do I need to say any more? The noise was incredible.
The site has a lovely view over the bay and great views of Arran. But I am sorry to say that there another two downsides to this site. Firstly....the toilets and showers left a lot to be desired. The toilet block could do with a major 'makeover'!The last problem...and may I say the MAJOR problem.....was the space between units.....we were SO close to our neighbours...our guy rope were intercrossing!

I cant fault this campsite in any way. We were a group of 3 young couples in our 20's. While other camp sites turned their noses up at our young group, Head of Ayr happily welcomed us. Although we were warned that any noise and they would be the first to let us know, which was fine because the camp site was directly behind their home. There was a great atmosphere to this campsite and everyone was really friendly. We'll definitely be back!
