Absolutely lovely site, staff very friendly and approachable.
The laundry and disabled facilities were top notch as were the showers and toilets (and plenty of them). There were lots of picnic benches throughout the tent area which came in very handy during our stay.
Only areas of criticism as as in earlier reviews, 1 was the allocation of keys for the disabled toilet (it was a bit pot luck) and the other was the lack of pitch allocation in the tent area. We had booked well in advance for EHU and were lucky to get a spot as tents were a bit haphazard in their pitching. I know that a guy who came in after us couldn't get a spot even though he had booked due to the way previous tents had been pitched. Also there were tents in the EHU bit that weren't using EHU when the other area was empty.
However we had a lovely stay, very well positioned and we all came home with lovely tans. Not too many midges either!

A very clean, well maintained site. The lady in charge could not have been friendlier. We visited in the summer holidays, during good weather, so the site was almost full. The pitches in some areas are close together, and with tents and their cars parked on the other side of the road it was very difficult to get our 24ft caravan into a pitch. The caravan had to be unhitched, and pushed. I wouldn't stay here again in peak season. The town of Alness just a few miles away is lovely, and well worth a visit.

Campsite, clean, Tidy, Toilet block clean, playground great for kids and well looked after. Excellent base for attractions. When we went it was busy in the tent area, but we found a spot. Only downside pitches for tents were not allocated and people were pitching really close.

We stumbled across this site and we will definitely be going back. The toilet block/showers were immaculate and cleaned at least twice a day. Didn't use the laundry or 'pot wash' so can't comment on them. There was a good children's play area which was well used during our visit. All in all, one of the better sites we have used and will be heading back in the near future.

This site falls just short of excellent. Many good points - surrounded by trees; next to a small river (fenced off - access to a small picnic area by it if you go up through the statics); in a great location - we saw seals from the A9 every journey in and out; decent showers - press on and off, no charge; good washing up area inside the laundry room; nice playpark for the kids; picnic tables throughout the tent areas (one EHU, one not).
There's a lovely family / disabled room off the laundry room with shower, bath and changing table. Only gripe is that there are 3 keys for this and we almost didn't get one! The guy (owner? Not sure as he wasn't at all chatty) didn't ask who I was before he gave it to me, so I guess if all 3 keys had been out, I'd have had to go around the site asking.

We have just recently stayed at the campsite and I would like to say it was absolutely fantastic. The people who run it were exceptionally helpful, always on hand to help you and very friendly. The toilets and showers were immaculate, they were cleaned at least once a day. The camp has a laundry room which has washing machines and a tumble dryer, which always come in handy. Also in the laundry room was two fridges which was a very nice touch for the people who had tents and know where to store cold food. There was also a play area for children. I can honestly say there was absolutely no faults with this site and myself and my family will certainly be returning back to this great site again.

A lovely sheltered site with superb facilities! They are honestly amongst the best I have ever come across! freezers, fridges, washing machines, tumble dryers, well serviced pitches with water and 16A electric hook ups very close at hand. Even washing up bowls, drying racks and fairy liquid very thoughtful! A quiet site once we got used to the gentle sound of the river it lulled me into a restful sleep. The play area was superb and our kids very quickly made friends and had lots of fun. I honestly cannot think of any gripes. Great! Excellent base for visiting the Black Isle - do visit Cromarty it is a beautiful picturesque village!

We have been visiting this site for the past ten years and the facilities just get better! The toilet block, laundry block and games room have all recently been refurbished, the pitches are all clean and flat and there is a large area for kiddies (and adults) to play games. You can fish for trout 20 yards from your pitch and there are some great walks in the immediate area. A good pub and a co-op are minutes away and if you don't want to cook the 'skiach services' are minute drive. This site is in a valley surrounded by trees so even when its breezy you don't notice.

July 2004 A very nice, well maintained campsite offering good clean facilities.
Situated next to the river Glass close to the A9 about 25 miles from Inverness with easy access to Dingwall. (24 hour Tesco’s). Dornoch village only 30 miles away, well worth a visit.
Toilets clean but a little dated (Apparently new toilet block planned to be built in Winter 2004), Laundry room very clean, free hot water, iron and free freezer use.
Great pitches, camping and caravans are situated away from the static vans. Grass is cut on a regular basis and not to many insects…
Places to see: Rosemarkie – Dolphins on the headland. Cromarty Firth – Seals in the morning Dornoch – Dornoch Castle Hotel for great cream tea’s and Embo Beach for rock pools. Miur of Ord – Glen Ord Distillery (Traditional Distillers selling high quality single malts) A must! Falls of Shin – Between July and September Salmon can be seen jumping up the falls.
Over all an excellent campsite made our holiday – we would return to Black rock Camping with out hesitation.

Easter 2004 The site has changed hands this year - a young and energetic family have taken it over and have set about improving the facilities.
What looks like a new or refurbished toilet block - in a log clad portacabin type building provided adequate facilities, whilst the well provided laundry and washing-up room - again in a portacabin, came into use during our visit.
Some new 'super pitches' have been laid opposite the reception building and new fencing and lighting was being installed.
There are also a couple of dozen statics at the back of the site, some perched on shelves on the hillside above!
This is a well sheltered site, may have been a quarry or the like at some point in the distant past, surrounded by trees on three sides, with a fast flowing burn running down the length of one side (it is fenced off). Mobile phone reception can be a problem.
The village shop is adequate, but with two (and soon to be three) supermarkets in Alness, shopping is easy.
See the oil rigs in the Cromarty firth - a spectacular sight at night - and the Black Isle is a must. (Don't forget the little brewery!). Seals can be seen lying on the mudflats by the road to Dingwall, whilst buzzards wheel overhead nearly everywhere.
Oh - and don't forget to visit Harrods! Yes, there is one one up there - at the Falls of Shin, (turn left out of the site and keep going - it's near Lairg) believe it or not! Not quite on the same scale as London but......
