Stayed here spring bank holiday weekend.
This is a very peaceful and quite site (if you exclude the loud dawn chorus every morning, but that’s Mother Nature so you can’t complain) in fairly well kept grounds.
The central area of the site is situated in trees which gives it a nice “in the woods” kind of a feel, and is pleasant to stroll through (as much as strolling through a caravan park can be). This main area caters for seasonally pitched caravans (which appear to be the majority, and probably the “bread and butter” earner for the site) and some touring vans and camper pitches. There are also two camping fields with tree and shrub lined borders, the main one being fairly large with hook-up points for about 12 units (either van or tent) down one side. The other smaller field, the warden told us, is either for dog walking or used to put groups away from the main site so they won’t disturb anyone. Both fields are flat and ideal for tents and vans alike.
The facilities are a little dated but kept clean and tidy and are more than adequate. There is a coin operated washer and dryer, and two indoor pot washing sinks. I am not sure about getting freezer packs frozen as there is no communal fridge/freezer but I imagine, given previous reviews, this will be charged and is done by the warden who lives in one of the caravans next to the reception building.
On the whole the site is good and fairly laid back, and I enjoyed my stay.
I think the site maybe in a bit of decline though, or is being slightly neglected. The hook-up electric went on two consecutive nights and required electricians to be called out to diagnose, and then replace, a fuse in the main power distribution building (which took several hours). The fact the lights in the Gents toilet block also went when the hook-up power was lost (but the rest of the site’s electrics remained on) implied to me that the electrics were a bit of a “bodge” possibly, and could do with looking at.
One section of the site is a bit of a “the caravans that time forgot” area. There are some caravans that look like they have not been used for years (filthy), and some really old specimens that were the latest models when I was a kid. This “Jurassic” section of the site is also, incidentally, where the second camping field is, so there is indeed no one to disturb here if the campers get noisy. I assume that the ground rent for these caravans is being paid by someone and that keeps things ticking over as far as the owners are concerned, but it is strange to see these “ghost” vans. I accept that this is of no real concern for campers using the site though.
As stated the facilities are adequate, but just getting to the age where they could do with a referb.
So the site could do with a bit attention to stop it slipping too far into disrepair, as it is a lovely little site when all’s said and done.

Just spent two nights on this site in a motorhome. The fee is £20 per night. There is no on site shop. The office is unmanned, you have to look for the warden. We did see him walk around the site smoking, and were sad to see him flicking his cigarette butt into the grass. The shower blocks are basic, water not particularly hot and push button and we were surprised when using the ladies on Sunday morning at 9.00am to come out of the shower cubicles to find a man wandering about, changing loo rolls etc. There is no designated cleaning time for the blocks and no apology. We actually felt that we were in HIS way and not the other way around. The electricity is 6 amps and the supply kept tripping off. It was a chilly night and you couldn’t use the heating and the TV at the same time. I think its fine to supply the basics if you are charging basic fees. But £20.00 a night is extortionate for this site. I mentioned my concerns to the warden and was interrupted by the owner. When I told him about the incident in the shower he explained that the man was his son and if he didn’t try and get in the cubicle with me, I shouldn’t complain! I told him I thought the fees were steep for what was on offer, particularly the electricity and he told me to go elsewhere if I didn’t like it. Apparently some of the long-term “residents” have also complained about the power supply but the owner refuses to do anything about it. There is an arrogance to this site when they can charge £20.00 per night and feel that they don’t have to do anything but the basics to justify it. Dreadful place.

This is our second visit to this great park. Its an adult only site and is great for peace and quiet very very clean toilets and very helpful staff. It is only a few miles from all you need Hemsley /Scarbrough are all with in easy drive We found this site by accident but will be going back again and again a great little gem in the trees. The field is very flat and ideal for Tents and Caravans alike. We should keep this site very quiet so its not spoilt by too many visitors but others need to know what a great place for a weekend or longer away.

At £20 per night for one small tent and 2 adults this site is the most expensive we have stayed at and they continue to try to part you with more money for services usually free at other sites. 60p per freeze block is outrageous as we had 10 ! and £3 per visit to the bathroom was unacceptable. The toilets and showers are in need of updating, the free showers were cold, push buttoned and low pressure.
The camping field is level and well drained and as the other reviews say we could pitch wherever we liked, but no facilities on this field so we pitched near the gate and you need a torch to find the toilets during the night as it is dimly lit.
Directions on how to find the place are sketchy, we found it more by good luck than judgement!
It is not quiet as described, the wood pigeons are going all day, there are hundreds of them, there is an airfield very nearby and lots of small aircraft taking off day and night.
We used this site as a base to visit York, Scarborough, Whitby and Helmsley, the surrounding area is nice

Spent a weekend here in June, lovely site, we pitched in the touring field which is very large and didn't seem to have restrictions on pitch size. The friendly warden let us pitch where ever we wanted but kept one side available for EHU ( we did not require EHU)
A very peaceful site with good facilities for showering/washing etc, there is even a separate bathroom, in the same block there is an area for washing up and a laundry room with a washer and tumble dryer. They also provide an iron and ironing board (all these are chargable) These areas were kept spotlessly clean. On the outside of the block are two sinks that are used for washing veg and boots if you like.
A bit difficult to find because apparently the post code is incorrect for sat nav, they are currently in the process of updating the website, the lady I spoke to when booking gave me some fairly detailed directions and they were invaluable for finding the site. A little gem of a site, will be going back.

Overall, an excellent site with friendly and helpful staff. Not given a choice of pitch but what we were given (for two tents) was huge and very close to facilities.
Very quiet and pretty nestled amongst the pine trees. Pigeons are noisy at dawn and do poo on your tent a little but no noisy kids which makes up for it! Most of the time very peaceful and relaxing.
When not in use by tents, the adjacent field can be used to exercise dogs which is great.
Not many shops nearby (on-site shop is non-existent) but chippy, indian and pubs within 5 minutes drive.
Loos and showers look dated but are spotless with separate showers (with curtained trays and drying area) and even separate wash basins. Toilet cubicles are clean and well-lit.
Definitely going back!

Revisited again. Many of the trees have been felled this gives a lot more light to the caravan area. Still wonderful and relaxing tent fields are so private, pitch where you like. The main facilities and washing up can be a walk but there are a couple of toilets [but not full facilities] placed around the site so you are never more than 25 yards from a toilet. Lots of loo roll this time and soap and paper towels, plenty of hot water. Has not got all the 'fancy frills' and the shop is non existent but thats the joy of proper camping. Will go again - especially to be child free.

An absolutely superb site, exactly what camping is supposed to be like. The site manager was friendly and let us camp wherever we liked.
The toilet block looked like it hadn't been updated since the 1970's. However, this is NOT a criticism! It was spotless, well maintained, in very good condition, the individual washbasin cubicles was a lovely touch and reminded me of camping as a child.
There was absolutely no noise aside from wood pigeons in the wonderful pine woodland the park is set in (although the touring tent field is on the edge and by corn fields).
Helmsley was a lovely town with the castle, the Abbeys, Ampleforth College and white horse the key attractions. Pickering was only a half hour drive down the road, as was Malton or Thirsk.
The former RAF Wombleton is nearby, along with a memorial and worth a look.
The site also has a connection with the hotel in the nearby village, and for just £3 you could swim in their indoor heated pool.
This was a superb site, certainly the best of the three I visited in a week in the area and I will definitely be returning with the bike to explore the area on two wheels rather than four.

If like us you are looking for a totally relaxing break then this is the place !
We stayed in the tent field at the top with another 7 tents, however, the field is of such a size that it is able to cater for many more so as such we has so much privacy.
The whole site was litter free and extremely sedate and quiet. The most noise heard was from the wood pigeons by day and frolicking foxes and hooting owls by night.
We will be returning as soon as childcare facilities will allow !

Touring pitches were very large hard standings, difficult to manouever into due to large amount of trees on site. Seasonal pitches were at one end of site, tourers at the other (away from showers), and a decent looking camping field. Showers were good. Spent friday night at the most peaceful site I have ever visited. But beware, this site is ADULT only now (which is why we picked it). Saturday afternoon, Four cars, three tents, THIRTEEN student type girls (every mans dream)and one student type boy (must be gay!)turned up and the slack old warden pitched them next to us!imagine your worst nightmare and double it. I don't blame the students for this, just the total inconsideration of the warden. P. S, we visited the site at Wombleton which is a
