Spent 4 nights at this site. It is supposed to be 5-star, but as such is a disappointment. On the plus side, there is plenty of wildlife - especially birds - it's very quiet, and well situated for touring the area. However, for us this was outweighed by the following: We were not allowed to select our own pitch and were a long way from the toilet block The advertised shop was non-existent and there was hardly ever anyone in reception. Hook-up only 6 amps. Shower-block adequate and water hot, but push-button showers with poor pressure. Coniferous trees drop needles all the time and you end up with a real mess on your outfit.

Now adults only. Tent field is large and sunny or you can choose to camp beneath the trees. Toilet block is a bit rough n ready [take your own loo roll - there was none left we we visited] but the sound of trees and bird song makes up for the lack of refinements.

A very pleasant site. Very thankful for the trees as this was the end of the very hot weather. The toilet, launderette and shower block was good. Cubicles were very spacious compared to some I've been in. Copious hot and extremely hot water. Site is very quiet and has just become adults only. There are a lot of owners caravans sited all year. A site for complete relaxation.

Lovely site quiet and peaceful.Near to helmsley and our daughter was allowed to play without hassle contrary to previous reviews and made a great friend.easy to find down the lane and the nearby chip shop was quality. Showers o.k ish but we didn't mind. We pitched under a tree and was very picturesque. Go again? yes we would

Nice clean site but on the quiet side! Staff were friendly. Plenty of space - we were one of only three tents on the site all week. The site seems to mainly comprise of permanent caravans. Shower block good and clean but a bit more water pressure please! One mile to the nearby Star pub. 4miles to centre of Helmsley which has 3 or 4 pubs. The food in the Royal Oak was 1st rate. Also ate at the Italian. Would visit again.

My wife and I visited this site in june this year. We were happy with the pitch allocated to us, but the hook up was only 6 amps. The toilet block was clean and well equipped, a seasonal resident told me the central heating is never on in early or late season. There was no shop as such on site and no warden either. Very handy for visiting North Yorkshire, but at £15.00 per night??? and having to wash all the pigeon lime of both van and car it was a dissapointment.

June 2005 This is a wonderful campsite, just about 5 minutes from Helmsley, which offers everything you could need in way of shops / banking / cashpoint.
Foxholme is down a narrow country lane and feels like it's miles from anywhere! The campsite is a wooded area providing ample protection from the elements. The whole feel of it is very relaxing.
The only thing to be wary of is the birds doing their business all over your tent! But it's worth it! We were woke up every morning by the dawn chorus of the birds never heard them so loud but it was wonderful!
The toilet block was very impressive. Large spacious cubicles and individual sinks with mirror. The showers were, likewise, spacious with ample hot water!
They do have a shop which does offer very basic things such as sugar, cans of pop, little cans of camping gaz etc. But be aware that this isn't permanently manned and people were only available between 9 - 10:30 and 4 - 6 (if memory serves me right!). But there is a garage down the road which would also offer essentials and sold replacement gas bottles.
In peak times the camping field is in use, which was immaculate! It was perfectly flat and fenced. When there are no campers this is a dog exercise area with a handy dog waste bin at the gateway!! A very nice touch.
Overall an excellent site with excellent facillites and a lovely setting.

May 2004 Quiet site, within woods, very dusty from tree pollen and on a dull day would be very dark, Staff very helpful. Toilet block very clean and well looked after. Handy for local villages. Beautiful area.
