We chose this site for our first 'test camp' after acquiring a tent (primarily for a festival later in the year). This was based on Aberfeldy not being too far from home.
I grew up on caravan holidays (initially in a 10' Thomson Glen, no leccy, no loo, and no awning, to fit 3 of us and a Doberman lol) - so I've seen a few camp sites in my time, but I'm new to tents.
This site was very nice. Kept really tidy, with clean loos, showers & dishwashing facilities. Friendly wardens & fellow campers - especially our neighbour who kindly jump started my car after I ran the battery down (open doors = internal lights(!)and yes, phones do use that much battery(!)- oops).
There was a wee bit noise on the Fri night. But isn't it about socializing??? I was woken by gulls/ crows/ magpies at daybreak! Earplugs sorted that issue though ;) Saturday night was a quieter affair (apart from the birds lol).
My only gripe is that the reception don't offer an ice pack freezing facility (going back my Thomson Glen days here). I'm not sure if this facility is less common, due to the sophistication of camping these days, but it's still handy for those in tents who have no EHU - which is the majority of the tent pitches here. Not to worry - I now plan to buy a EHU. And a new (better) tent. Think I've been bitten by the camping bug!
Speaking of which, were no bugs when we were on this site - surprising considering the proximity to the river (we took a stroll down in the evening, and it was pleasantly midge free).
Its a nice 10 minute stroll into the town, where there is a selection of eateries, pubs, & wee independent shops. Also a great ice - cream shop. There's a cinema too.
We spent 2 lazy/ relaxing nights here, and I would not hesitate in returning.
I can't comment on the water logging issue, as we had a glorious weekend hitting 23 degrees, even managed to get a wee tan - result!

Lovely site, wardens were good and friendly,
Site was great when the sun shone but the minute the rain came our awning was totally water logged, so bad in fact we couldn't use it as we had to wade in and out of the van, I have written a letter to the council to see if they can upgrade the drainage in this part of the park,
Found the showers a bit of a joke, no shower curtain so everything gets soaked during the whole ten seconds the water comes out before you have to press the button again for more water. Toilets were lovely and clean though,
The speed bump just after reception is a total joke, we nearly lost the bottom off our car, it's far too high,
Small park for kids to play in, grass areas were well kept as was all the areas,
Only thing that put us off was the resident caravanner who thought he should police the site himself, thought that was the official wardens job, he even went as far as checking round our caravan to see what we were up to, it was nipped in the bud at the start but would put us off going back
Aberfeldy a lovely little place loads of eating places and open spaces, friendly shops and plenty places to buy supplies, , , ,

The campsite setting and facilities are fantastic, but the site was let down by rowdiness and no enforcement of the 10pm curfew.
Pitches are well-defined, generous, level and without lumps and bumps. Slabbed areas are provided for barbecues.
The facilities are good. At first sight it seemed there may be too few showers for the size of site, but I had no problem accessing the facilities despite the campsite being close to capacity. There is a small children's play area that will keep the kids occupied.
The location is close to the centre of Aberfeldy. There are plenty of grocery shops, takeaways, restaurants and bars within close walking distance. The location next to the river Tay is also good, with riverside walks through the adjacent golf course.
Campsite was midge-free in September.
The campsite is well lit - possible to much so.
The thing that let down this site for me was the rowdiness running through until the early hours of the morning. On booking in, a slip advised us that no 'un-reasonable' noise would be tolerated after 10pm, and if necessary the Police would be called to eject non-compliant people. On that basis we geared our day to get our kids and ourselves settled by 10pm. It was pretty quiet at that time, but as the pubs emptied the campsite became noisier and noisier with loud, drunken, talk peppered with a lot of swearing.
A vehicle toured the campsite some time between 11pm and midnight, at which time the noise temporarily quietened - I can only imagine it was a warden visiting on a final tour. After that vehicle departed the chatter resumed
For the owners / operators I would offer this feedback
1) Make the curfew explicit - people's perception of what is 'reasonable noise' will vary, especially after consumption of alcohol! Wording such as 'no noise after 10pm' or perhaps 11pm would be more appropriate.
2) Turn out the lights shortly after curfew - this signals the curfew is in force, discourages noisy outdoor gatherings, and makes for a better sleep environment
3) Enforce the curfew. A 1-hour tour of duty by a warden could have addressed the few noise-makers and would make camping at this site a far more pleasant experience for the majority of your clients.
In summary: Great site, in a fantastic location. Shame about the night-time noise levels. I have marked-down value for money and customer service on this basis.

This site is run by the Council - there was a notice saying it was full for tents - this was up the whole time we were there for our two nights - there were many spaces both nights for tents. Hmmm, councils are supposed to be trying to generate income in these cash strapped times -I work for one.
Anyway the wardens were nice and helpful and the site is near the town - there are a few restaurants and pubs - we went to the chippy which was fine. Quite a few shops have closed down. The toilets - well there are loads of them and the showers are nice and hot but yes you do have to keep pressing the button but the ladies did last more than four seconds and I just kept pressing it back in before it stopped! My main gripe was that the pitches were ridiculously close together - but hey squeeze em in and get the income in! Joking aside I would not want to spend my holiday that near to the next unit. No ball games so the sign said but it seemed to be ok to play quoits etc.
The site is right next to the river and we detected bats on both nights. There's a children's play area and when the toilets are closed (for one and a half hours) there are really clean portaloos to use but no other showers.

Went to site as our first trip away with our young son. Only half an hour away from home.
Friendly & helpful staff at reception.
Please be aware of first speed bump after reception as we just about lost the bottom of the car!
Overall site was great, small playpark near tent area, great for giving us peace to pitch tent on arrival. Stayed the Friday night which was fine, however on the Sat there was a group of 4 tents all pitched behind us, very noisy until very late in night. Not ideal with small child! No sign of any warden asking to keep noise level down. In future I would request a pitch nearer reception as that area seemed a lot quieter.
Toilet blocks are clean, both the brick one and portaloos. Showers on a timer(not long enough) and a little hot for small children.
Aberfeldy town is lovely only 5 min walk into centre, nice chip shop and plenty shops and bars.
Will definitely be back to this site.

Sited our tourer for a week on this park. A beautiful site in beautiful surroundings and a very short walk into the town of Aberfeldy. Site staff very obliging and the 'regulars' on site were all very friendly and helpful. I broke a pole for my awning and was asking for advice from the warden when a lady offered me a remedy: she gave me a complete awning frame, totally free, that fitted perfectly. Then, as I struggled to erect it for the first time, 2 'regulars' came over and did the job for me. First class.
The only small criticism I have is that the toilet/shower facilities are closed, during what I think is a peak time, for a full 90 minutes every day while they are being cleaned. We caravanners don't all rise with the lark so I had to wait some time for a refreshing shower. Anyway, only a small criticism but the toilets were immaculate.
Aberfeldy is a short walk with plenty of places to eatand drink. Great playpark for the kids. The little fish'n'chip shop is great and the Fountain pub/restaurant very lively.
A very enjoyable stay and without doubt we will return to this park in the future.

Wardens are friendly and helpful and pitches are level with the option of electricity if required. As our tent is large we were put in the field at the back of the site where the pitches are very generously sized. We had room for our tent(7x5m) and two cars. It did looked a bit of a squeeze in the normal tent area though.
The toilets were adequate, however a proper toilet/shower block at the back of the site would be beneficial. At the moment there are 2 portable loos.
Unfortunately it rained very heavily whilst we were there and several parts of the site flooded. However, that's to be expected when you are so close to the river.
Aberfeldy is a lovely town and the camp site is close to shops/pubs. An easy 10 min walk at most (with 2 small children!)
We enjoyed our stay and will be back but we'll check the weather forecast first!

Used this site as a family base to climb Ben Ghlas and Ben Lawers. Site is good, well run, well managed and friendly. Pitches are level and good quality with electric hook up if desired, although spacing is tight giving a slightly crowded feeling.
To be fair though this was not an issue, site was quiet, rules respected and we had a very enjoyable stay. Toilet facilities satisfactory for a short stay.
Spent 2 evenings in Aberfeldy. Friday night following our meal went to the Black Watch Inn Lounge Bar, 2 adults and 2 kids. We were made very welcome and enjoyed an hour listening to local musicians singing and playing fiddle, guitar, whistle, mouth oragan and squeeze box a real treat.
On Saturday evening after our 6 hour walk we were looking forward to a meal. The Fountain as recommended by others looked great but our eye was caught by a small family run restaurant off the square called ChecHeck. A family run business specialising in Persian cuisine, we were made most welcome and enjoyed a lovely and relaxed family meal made to order. Well woth a visit.
Good weekend, good Perthshire base will visit again

This is the second visit to Aberfeldy Caravan Park although the first time was with a tent a couple of years ago. I enjoyed my last visit but this occasion, with a caravan, revealed some misgivings.
We arrived late but details of our pitch were posted on the door of the reception. The site is very clean and has a children's play area.
There are 2 toilet blocks, one brick built and the other, adjacent to the tent area, is a portable cabin. The brick built is clean but only provides 4 shower cubicles. The showers can be rather frustrating as they are operated with a timed push button which allows for a shower of water for a maximum of 4 seconds! Ok, so you're thinking 'this guy timed it?'. I'm afraid I was so frustrated trying to have a quick shower that, yes, I did time all 4 of them.
The main misgiving I felt was with regards to the pitches. All pitches are level and serviced with electricity only but as the site was full, I felt particularly hemmed in as there is little space between vans.
On the plus side, there is a superb walk from the campsite which runs alongside a river and the golf course.
Aberfeldy itself is a delightful town with a good selection of shops, bars & cafes. Unfortunately, the town appears to have been badly hit by the recession as there are several shops now closed down since my last visit.
I am not rating Aberfeldy caravan park low, I just believe that, overall, there are better. However if you wish to visit the lovely town of Aberfeldy then there is no handier site than this.
Having said all this, I will return.

Site is Perth & Kinross Council run all grass pitch site (except for a few around the edge which appear to be for seasonal users). Although very busy, with it being a holiday weekend, everything was clean and tidy.
There is only one toilet / shower block for the entire park, therefore, distance could potentially be an issue. Pitch is allotted on booking so make mention of how far away your pitch may be. As previously mentioned the 4 showers did mean short wait but still had a nice hot shower at nearly 10am in the morning (couldn't say that of every site we have visited!)
Pooch would give a paws up to the lovely walk along the riverside / golf course (in between rain showers) and site is within easy walking distance of the town.
Could not stress a big enough beware of the first speed bump after the reception / toilet block. Our car took a frightening under carriage scrap from it. We are considering writing to the council as a previous reviewer made mention of this back in 2008 and it's a bit off that nothing has been done about it.
Saying that would not be put off returning to this site as there are many more things to see and do that our 2 days did not give us time for.
