Small site close to the town centre. Toilets washing up and washing in small block on other side of access road to local primary school. Pitches have electric hook up and hard standings. Facilities rather worn and the whole site felt rather 'municipal'.
At school opening times quite busy with children going to school. At other times it was quiet enough for rabbits to come out.
Managers helpful when we left our awning up overnight to stay in Edinburgh.

Compact site on the edge of the town next to the park which is great for walking the dog and also has lots of play equipment for children as well as a large duckpond and a stream alongside it. The site facilities were clean and tidy, although I found it difficult to wash my hair due to the low power of the shower plus the water temp was a bit high for me and I couldn't get it to change. The shower block, washing machines, C D point are all accessed by key - understandable, given the location is right by a school and local sports facilities. The site owners were friendly and helpful and it is very handy for the town, less than 5 mins walk to centre of town for local pub (discount on meals for campers) chippy shops bank etc. Recommend the little museum, all sorts of nostalgia and local history. I thought the cost was a bit high for a solo camper £13. 50 plus £3 EHU but at least they didn't charge for the dog. Saturday night was interesting, observing the local teenagers showing off their cars to each other in the adjacent car park, but they were all gone by 10pm.

Friendly welcome from Billy with full explanation of all the facilities. A tidy, clean site adjacent to the public park. Only three minutes stroll to town centre. Plenty of small, independent shops and cafés. A hotel and a couple of pubs are also in the town centre. An excellent centre for touring the are either by car, bike or just having a relaxing walk.

Found this site by following the brown sign posts for a caravan site in Dalbeattie itself. Nice position on the edge of town next to a large park, the Football ground and Primary School. It was just a short walk to the shops and restaurants and also a fascinating free Museum.
Spent 4 nights there and for most of them we were on our own - it was like having a private bathroom. The toilet block had 2 toilets and one shower in both ladies and gents and while dated they were very clean and had plentiful hot water with soap and towels provided. The separate dishwashing also had soap provided and the washing machine and dryer were the cheapest I had come across, only £2 for the washing machine. The free wifi was a bonus.

Just returned from a pleasant stay at this site. Small and compact with friendly proprietor. Facilities are basic but clean and adequate. Site handy for local park with good children's play equipment, small children will need supervision as there is a lake in the park. Town centre 5 mins walk away. Lots to see and do in the area, lots of forest walks and mountain bike trails. Be sure to visit nearby Kippford, excellent meals at the Mariners pub.

Just returned from a great long weekend at this site, two families with 7yr old boys. The site is small & compact, nestled in a quiet area behind a fantastic park setting, owners are friendly and always around to help but leave you get on with your stay too.
Facilities are small & basic with loads of hot water and very clean, only downside is the very poor water power in the showers. It is very easy going & relaxed.
The town is only a few minutes walk away from the site, locals are friendly and there are all the amenities you need for a holiday break, further afield there are lovely walks, cycle paths & beaches.
This is our first time in Dumfries & Galloway but we'll definitely return to this area and Islecroft.

My husband myself and our 6 young children spent a very enjoyable and memorable 2 weeks at this site. It was our first camping holiday and we weren't disappointed.
The owners were very pleasant and helpful, the shower/toilet block was always immaculately clean, good washing up facilities and a great washing machine and tumble drier very reasonably priced may I add!
The site was quiet and relaxed and we weren't far from a great playpark, football pitch, pitch n putt and row boat hire. Shops, butchers etc all within short walking distance. Highly recommended!

Stayed at Islecroft for a week with several other UKCS members.
A nice friendly site with very helpful owners, nothing was too much trouble for them.
The site is adjacent to a nice park with an excellent children's play area with modern equipment and boats for hire.
The town centre with shops, cafés, chippy and museum is only 100 yards from the site.
I would definitely go there again.

I visited this campsite recently with my girlfriend and found it to be quiet, peaceful and a great base to explore the surrounding area which was just what we were looking for. Although not spending a great deal of time in the campsite (two nights) we found that the sites facilities were excellent and well looked after. The campsite itself was situated in the town of Dalbeattie but this should not be seen as a disadvantage. We were near enough to shops, pubs and restaurants to walk to easily however the campsite itself is hidden away behind the local park. This park also had a great playground for anybody travelling with children. The rates were also very reasonable. Will visit again soon.

I stayed here for two weeks and had an enjoyable stay. The site is very well run with friendly and helpful proprietors. The facilities are clean and well maintained, and is situated in a convenient position just off the town centre. if you are looking for a country retreat this won't be for you but for a relaxing value for money stay you will be hard pressed to find better in the area. I will definitely be going back!
