We've stayed here twice now - although in Swanage itself, it's tucked away at the back of a housing area, so not the easiest to just stumble across. As a result, it has been the only site we've found with spaces when driving around trying to find somewhere to camp when all the other sites in the area are "SITE FULL"!
Both times we've stayed we've been up in the top field. It's a bit of a trek from the toilet block, although they do site some portaloos half-way back down the hill. The top field is very large, but very hilly, so may not be easy to find a level pitch (not that it really bothered us.) However, this is more than compensated for by the fantastic view over Swanage, which was great for watching the carnival fireworks.
There's a kids playground down by the reception block which kept our 2 occupied whilst doing the washing up. We haven't explored over to the holiday park next door to see what the facilities are like there (even though we were told about them both times we stayed).

There were 20 of us and we had a good time the toilets were porta cabins but they were fine there was a shower block but it was about 20 mins walk away there was water at the toilet block that you could take back to the tents the ground was a bit sloped but we managed to get all of us together and on flattish ground the location to swanage was very good and I can recommend the swanage festival about £12 a night very good for groups Would not go back because there is the rest of england to see

Just back from a long weekend here and was very impressed - amazing views of Swanage bay from the top tent field which compensated for the steep slopes to shower block and exposed location when windy. Toilets were always very clean, constant hot water, loo rolls etc. And staff really helpful & friendly. Great location for walking and probably one of the nearest campsites to Swanage though walk back from the beach / town is very steep and not for the faint-hearted!

This was our first time camping and we were not disappointed When we got there the staff were friendly and full of local information. Were were told to pitch up anywhere with out hook up point, we found a nice spot. The site had a small playground, no shop which was a bit of a let down. It was basic but good, the site got busy and the pitches were really close. A few people spoil it with loud music but it did not last to long and have to expect a bit of noise. The bathroom was basic but showers were free and lots of hot water The site was great value for money and could use next sites facilities (at a small charge for swimming) Would go again as £15 a night was god value

A no frills but pleasant enough site. Ground very hard so took a while to get tent erected. We found a nook where we were able to place our 4 tents in relative privacy, but noticed quite a few people turning up and pitching unreasonably close to existing tents but cannot blame the site for that! Facilities quite basic but plenty of toilets and showers and reasonably clean. Plenty of taps and bins and a nice view.

Selected this site, as it sounded nice, and seemed to be family friendly. It was our first time camping, myself and my 3 yr old toddler.
Arrived a little earlier than planned, and was allowed on site and advised to just pitch up anywhere. There are no marked pitches, though most are on flat grassy terraces.
Facilities were basic, with two visible toilet blocks, and 1 dishwashing unit. Good play area for kids.
Campsite was quiet during the day time, but got busy early evening. By the time my toddler was in bed, our area had been invaded by a couple of RV's and another tent. Coupled with the loud music from another tent just down one terrace, I had a sleepless night.
No visible pitches with electric, and water taps were not clearly marked out. Site was clean and tidy. Limited on site facilities, but they managers direct you next door to a site shop, pool and restaurant.
Be warned - the walk down to Swanage beach is long, and the walk back up is even longer!

August 2005 Found this holiday park by accident while we were looking for somewhere to pitch for the week. Didn't have to book but I would advise reserving a pitch as there wasn't many left by the time we arrived.
This park has recently been taken over by Shorefield Holidays. Although we had to pitch twice (first time ants nest - aggh!), it was a great place to be. Great views of Swanage sea front & the old steam train chugging along, it is well within walking distance of Swanage town centre (bit of a hill though).
Toilet and wash room facilities were okay but apparently the blokes ones could have done with an upgrade.
Only downfall on this site was there was no shop. Although I think that with the recent change of management this will change relatively soon. Don't worry though as the nearby Texco garage stocks bacon, eggs and milk if you can't be bothered to walk in to town.
Staff very friendly and helpful, plus BBQ's allowed. We would definatly come back here again!

July 2005 We went for the Swanage carnival so it was a busy weekend, but the site was not too crowded, and I was told that tent numbers were controlled. The central booking staff told me we would be in the top field, but did not mention that this only had about 9 portaloos and was about a 10 min walk to the 'proper' toilets and showers - a long way for the little legs of our young campers, and too far for us to walk to the beach. The views from the field were stunning though, a great breakfast/dinner spot - and for watching the carnival fireworks!
The onsite warden was friendly and great about controlling a noisy group (thank you again!) and for dealing with gripes about lack of water to wash hands in the portaloos after a busy Saturday.
So a mixed review - it was £15 per night at peak rate, but for facilities that were too far for us to use easily. Perhaps a reduced rate for the top field?

June 2005 Just got back from a weekend break, along with 23 friends. Site recently bought by Shorefield Holidays. Friendly and helpful staff at central booking system and on site. Very reasonable at £10/pitch/night. Good showers, plenty of Hot water.
Site itself is fantastic with many terraces that could pitch between 2 and 10 tents. All surrounded by mature trees and with great views of the sea itself. Limited number of EHU's (6).
Within walking distance of town, even after a few beers. Good range of shops nearby, or under 5 mins to Co-Op or Somerfields. No problems with noise, hopefully the other campers can say the same about us.
All in all an excellent friendly and cheap site, Highly recommended.

august 2003 I camped with my six year old daughter in the top field and the views were stunning. But this campsite does not seem to regulate the number of pitches per sq metre- some families were even pitched next to the portaloos-bleurgh!
I thought £11.50 a night was on the pricey side for a pitch for a small tent. The portaloos appeared only to be emptied once a week. The showers and toilets were awful- black gunk came up through the plugholes when someone flushed the loo (if they bothered to flush!) and despite there being a warden, noise could be a problem in the small hours- and some parties turned threatening when asked to keep it down.
