Arrived to find reception empty (Sunday 13:30) ,So went off to find a pitch .This we found to be difficult as the park was full and we had booked ,would have helped if someone was around to show to your pitch or they had a sign on a pitch saying reserved for Mr Jones 26/08/07 . Now that's the bad points out of the way the rest was excellent, shower block and toilets very clean ,site very tidy, did like the idea of the van that arrived at 10:30 every morning with papers, bread ,milk and all sorts. On Monday the owner came round for site fee payment and what a little gem she is, very polite and courteous. The site itself is very quite and peaceful and the walks along the river and through the woods are very relaxing. The children would ride off on there bikes for hours and then come back to the play ground (very child friendly aged 2+). Lighting on site at night is very pleasing and located in good positions so as not to light up your caravan or tent . On the whole this was a bargain week (£108 inc hookup) on a fantastic site with loads to do around Tywyn and surrounding areas we will DEFINITELY be returning and strongly recommend to all.

We visit the site frequently and although the lack of office hours can be a prob, I think this a great basics site (If you cannot stand the lamb & rook combined voice choir then there are plenty of overdeveloped sterile "holiday parks" around). Pony trekking, beaches,Arthur's labyrinth, crab fishing, sea angling, swimming pool, sports centre, narrow guage railway, walks, hills, views, cinema (family run & v good). - plenty to do Supermarkets, specialist shops, hotels & restaurants

Great site and ideal location, just over a mile away from the town centre and beach where they offer free parking which was a pleasant surprise. Lovely site, although quite busy there was still ample room between other tents leaving space for the kids to play without causing anyone any problems. We had a warm welcome from the owners when we arrived, toilet block and showers were clean, but I'd take some loo roll with you as this wasn't always available towards the end of the day. They have a van that arrives on site selling newspapers, milk, bread etc everyday at about 10am this was very handy as the site hasn't got a shop. Gorgeous views surrounding the site, play area for the children just down the driveway opposite the static vans was great kids loved it, great walks through the woods on the site which lead out to a river again stunning views and so peaceful. We are looking forward to returning with our friends and children in September.

We arrived on a Saturday, found the office shut (it only opens for 1 hour at 9.30 am and 1 hour at 5.30 pm) so went and pitched and hooked up where we felt appropriate. It would have been useful however to have had someone around to advise on best place for pitching. We didn't want to block access to hardstanding areas as we were in a tent, however later tents arrived and did just that! The toilets needed a code to get in whch was not available until the office opened (or you asked another camper).
The site itself is OK, toilets and showers were generally clean, although not spotless (toilets sometimes looked a bit dubious in parts where the 'flush' doesn't reach). Also we were there for a whole week and during that time out of the 3 soap dispensers in the ladies there was only soap in 1 of them. Toilet roll also occasionally ran out in some of the loos and didn't appear to be replaced - and this wasn't a really busy week either.
The play area and laundry are on the static site and a considerable distance from the camping field, so the kids only used the play area once during the week. Nice walks through the woods though and the 'tyre swing' was popular, although muddy! We were greeted every morning at 5.00 am by sheep in the next field baa-ing and then at 6.00 am the rooks started up (sounds of the country!). Although they state that there is a minimal noise policy after 11.00 pm until 7.00 am (obviously doesn't apply to the wildlife!) there was never any enforcement and therefore we suffered from noise late into the night on a couple of occasions (difference culprits each time - German scouts singing with a guitar one evening (actually quite nice!) and a caravan that arrived at 10.00 pm, started bashing in windbreaks to the accompaniement of copious swear words (from the small children as well!) and then packed up and left after breakfast the following day! Bring back the scouts please.!)
The campsite has a wonderful view of the hills and the surrounding area is lovely, with plenty of things to see and do. (King Arthurs Labrynth, Centre for Alternative Technology, Tall-y-Llyn railway, Aberdovey and Barmouth beaches etc). Even though the weather was mixed it was only one day that we struggled to find things to do on, and that was on the Friday when it rained for 18 hours non-stop (yes THAT Friday!) Some caravanners were due to leave Friday pm, but ended up having to wait till Saturday due to flooding (not in Wales, but in Worcestershire/M5 etc). Still it made for an impressive 'waterfall spotting' journey on the way home!
Overall we loved the area, however would probably not return to this particular site.

We stayed on a Monday evening in June 2007. The site was very quiet and must have had only 5 or six campers. Toilets and washing facilities were spotless with toilet roll and foam soap. Lovely views of the Mountains. Its very relaxed and peaceful. We would go there again.

The site was easy to find, and we had plenty of choice for pitches. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the toilet and shower facilities were clean and modern. As it was a busy weekend the site soon filled up, but there was still plenty of room for dogs and children to play. The surrounding area was full of interesting features, and the nearby village of Tywyn had good shops, pub and restaurants. We visited a few attractions and particularly enjoyed King Arthurs Labyrinth.

This was our 2nd visit to this site, as relatives have a static caravan on this site. The field is great for pitching, very flat, though there are no marked pitches. It was a very busy weekend and the only choice we had on arrival was right by the big oak tree with a tree swing, which was obviously a major attraction for all the children and all the dry dust covered our new tent! That said, after 10.00'ish all the children seemed to disappear and went very quiet and we were lucky that the children were well behaved just having fun. Good facilities, approx 7 toilets, 3 showers (sometimes had to wait), though as it was busy the toilet paper ran out late afternoon, also the showers weren't always hot. There were quite a lot of dogs on the site and there didn't seem to be a designated dog walking area, if so it wasn't always used as there was dog muck on the field! (Very little barking considering how many dogs were on the site). If you are a light sleeper (then you probably don't camp!), there were a lot of crows or other type of bird that made loads of noise from 6.00am onwards. The staff were very friendly and late and let us leave our tent pitched to dry out on our day of departure. We would definitely go back, though would really prefer to go outside of school holidays when it's not so busy, but unfortunately our eldest is now at school and that's how it is! There is a playground on the site and some lovely walks along the river. Excellent location, 10 min drive to Aberdovey, lovely beach there, there is a couple of decent train rides for the children, lots to do in this area and nice beaches. Great for crabbing in Aberdovey too!

This site has a single field for camping with Electric Hook-up around the outside and non-hookup in the centre. There were no marked pitches.
Being fairly new to camping we arrived for a busy August Bank Holiday to see a sign that said just find a spot and pitch "except at bank holidays" but also discovered to office is only open a couple of hours a day and so were slightly unsure what to do for the best. Anyway as we had booked we pitched anyway. The staff, when you do meet them, are very friendly and happily allowed us a late afternoon departure at the end of our stay.
Because there were no marked pitches and it was a busy bank holiday weekend, we had pitched with a sensible space between us and the next tent, but soon other small tents were squeezing in between and by the end of the weekend the field was quite crowded.
The toilets, showers and washing up facilities were very good and handled the busy bank holiday weekend, although there were a couple of times when an extra clean would have been ideal it was never a problem and generally very clean with toilet paper always available.
Our only gripe was that the bins did not cope with the busy weekend and by the end there was rubbish overflowing around the bin area. The site did make an effort to transfer it into black bags, but I was glad not to be on that side of the field.
In general this was a nice flat tidy site conveniently located close to Tywyn . It is certainly one I would return to, but pitch wisely.

April 2004 A great campsite for exploring mid wales. Toilets are good although could do with a second clean at peak periods. Site was very busy but quiet and you are not on top of each other although there are not set pitches. Staff are friendly and would use this again.

July/August 2003 A smashing campsite that is approximately 1 mile outside Tywyn. It has very good facilities which includes, decent clean toilets, nice hot showers,2 large washing-up sinks and fresh water points(2 on the main building and 2 on the field). This site seems quite popular but is quite spacious and you never feel too cramped with your neighbours. There is a market in Tywyn on Mondays which is worth a nose around and King Arthurs Labrynth in Corris is worth a visit, even if you don't have kids!!If you do visit this site, you wont be disappointed, but one word of advice would be not to pitch yourself too close to the Oak tree at the far end of the field(hook-up points 9,10,11),as there is a rope swing on there which attracts the kids like bees around honey. This is no major problem, but you may be unfortunate enough like we were to have a youth group stay for a couple of nights and use it day and night!!!
