I loved this little campsite it is terraced to make the pitches reasonably flat with many little 'hidey holes' amongst the terraces to have a little privacy. The site attracts many different people from families to older couples to young groups but everyone is very respectful and there is little noise in the evening.
The price is £13 per tent per night and no prebooking required. We turned up on a busy monday and they have a little tourer van at the entrance that the owners use as a 'reception and snack shop' you pitch where you want to and go and pay in the evening usually around 7pm.
We went as a group of friends (3 women all mothers escaping our children for the week) no open camp allowed but if you have a bbq you can have a fire in that as long as its not on the ground.
The toilets are clean and I never found them empty of toilet paper there are 3 showers and the y had hot water in the afternoon when I went for a shower there is a washing up sink outside but it had cold water only so boil your own water for washing up.
There are 2 plugs in the ladies loos and although I'm sure these were meant for hairdryers and alike most evenings there were people charging mobiles and laptops in there.
For those who like to keep in touch with he outside world you get a good signal on site too for your mobile.
Its basic but what do you expect for £13 a night I loved the place and even the random moos from the cows in the next field in the middle of the night
I will definitely go back again especially as Weymouth and Portland are hosting the sailing for Olympics 2012.

This site is basic, but what is camping all about? Basically being basic. That's why this camp site is perfect, it's only a short drive to Weymouth, and if you like to walk there is plenty of walking to do, it is however off set from a main road, so the mornings get a bit busy with cars, but this was my alram clock, so I saved on batteries here.
You have to find your own entertainment, but that isn't going to be hard considering what is nearby.
My kids are all grown up, but we did go with a couple of sister/brother outlaws who do have children.
The walk to the Smugglers Inn is a nice little pub with a beach (stoney but still a beach).
The good thing about this camp site you only pay for the tent, Osmington Mills corner camp site is one price as it should be.
The people are pleasant too. The showers/toilets you might think that they do not have enough, but I do think this is all relative, as the Rosewall campsite down the road has more showers/toilets, but the grounds are so much larger for more people so in fact it most likely works out to be the same.
If you are looking for a break that is quiet and plenty of walks, as this is almost in the middle, Poole is only a short journey (30 miles), Weymouth is about 4 miles, and Portland is another location for nice meal and day out to see the Lighthouse.
I would recommend this site to anyone that wants a cheap trip/holiday, as it only cost me 83 pounds for the week (sat to sat), and if you compare this with a B&B, it will most likely cost you as much for one night as for a whole week camping. Be warned, Rosewall camp site charges £20 Per night for 2 adults, anyone else dogs/kids etc. Cost extra.
At the entrance of the site, there is a caravan where the owners office is, if they are not there, you pitch up and then pay them when they are there, normally around 6/7pm. They sell anything and if they haven't got it, then I'm sure they might be able to get it. There is also a local shop just across the road that again sells the basic (but at a cost). Other than that, a short jump in the car on the way to weymouth there is a Co-op and a spar, otherwise there is an ASDA just from the town centre or a Tesco in the town itself.

This was a fab campsite for a week's family holiday. Basic but everything you need including toilets, showers and sockets for hairdryers in the ladies, very important for me! Little caravan shop at the entrance to the field sold camping bits and pieces and toys for the kids and there's a shop attached to the garage across the road which sells all the essentials like milk and bread. Most other campers seemed very respectful of others and even though it was busy there was very little noise at night, perfect place for stargazing too. No park but the kids didn't even notice as they were too busy making friends and no EHU but not a concern for us as we prefer 'proper' camping! Make sure you get in early for a shower as the hot water seems to run out quickly when its busy but for price and location a brilliant little campsite highly recommended.

We stayed here for 10 days at the end of July, we arrived before the start of the school holidays and so it was really quiet. It got busier at the weekends and was busier the following week but it wasn't too packed. The sight has been terraced in places and is undulating in others. We camped in our trailer tent on a terraced section, the only problem with pitching was that we hit gravel/stone in most places and it was hard getting the pegs fully in.
When it got busier it obviously got noiser and the thump thump noise from car stereos although not constant was not nice. I assumed this was because the owners didn't live on site but a man turned up with his children and played rap music loudly around 4pm, this 'tune' included the f word being shouted out repeatedly. Even though he was camped right opposite the showers and the owner was cleaning them out at the time she didn't ask him to turn it off.
The location of the campsite is actually right on the junction with the A353 not further down the road which this website shows it as being. This was a busy A road and so you could hear the constant traffic. For those who like to wake to the sound of bird song its probably not the site for you as we found the road quite noisy.
There are 3 showers for men and 3 for women, all free. They were always hot enough but there was no way of controlling the temperature. There was just a thick green curtain hung in front of each shower rather than a door which could be locked which I didn't really like, especially when trying to shower a reluctant toddler who managed to escape a few times! We never had to wait for a shower but they were a bit mucky, simply because the area just outside the showers where you left your shoes got wet and therefore muddy.
Next door to the campsite was a dairy which made its own ice cream. They had a little shop selling local products and their ice cream by the scoop! We also enjoyed walking down the lane to look at the horses in the field. We also used the shop at Rosewall campsite. You can walk to the beach but it is a bit of a trek with little children.
Any negatives about this site are outweighed by the fact that it was so cheap. £12 a night for a pitch or £75 a week which makes it about half the price of all the other campsites around Weymouth.

Just returned from a 9 night stay on this site. The owners are really nice and really laid back. They only have one rule and that is no camp fires, every thing else is very informal which our group (13 of us including 5 children) prefer. The site has been terraced so has flat pitches and really reasonable at £12 a night/£75 per week. The toilet/shower block really basic but was always clean and with plenty of hot water and toilet rolls. There are two power points in the block for hairdryers/charging phones. The only thing we missed was having the facility to chill our ice blocks which we have had on other sites. The best thing about this site is its location. There are some lovely walks - to the Smugglers Inn which serves great food at reasonable prices (approx 1 mile) and to the nearest sand/shingle beach, Bowleaze Beach (approx 2.5 miles) and of course, Weymouth (approx 4 miles). There is another pub called the Sun Ray but the food is more expensive and they have some weird rules. A different menu if you eat outside and would not serve my husband potatoes instead of chips although they were on the 'inside' menu? Strange!
Great place and lovely stay!

We loved it here! If your looking for basic camping in a huge field then this is your place! and at 75 quid for a wk, any pitch any size it was a bargain. (although the price has now gone up to 83 quid a wk or 13 quid a night. But that's still very cheap in comparison to others. )
The couple that run it were lovely, and a great help with anything we needed to know. They have a caravan on the entrance that sells a few basics and also bits and bobs for kids. There's also a garage right opposite the site that also sells basics. For other shopping there is a supermarket about a mile down the road.
The toilet/shower block was very basic, and probably in need of some work, but all this aside - very clean. I saw the lady in and out cleaning many times a day, she was always on top of it. It has plug sockets also for hair driers etc. Very hot showers, mainly best early morning or evenings.
There is a lovely pub only about a 5min walk away called the sunray that has a lovely garden with park for kids and does great well priced food - inc. A Sunday roast buffet for only a fiver. Further afield, there is the smugglers inn pub, this is set upon the coast, a lovely pub and great food. We walked all across the fields to reach this pub, if you love walking this is a great place to come, with many little coastal paths if you can find them!
The local beach is very rocky and not one for bathing, but great for the kids to go crab hunting etc, be warned though entrance's to this beach are very steep, although round the side of the smugglers inn pub there is easier assess to it.
We spent many days on weymouth bay - it was a short bus ride away and not very expensive, this is a gorgeous sandy beach and great seaside town.
The campsite gets very dark at night and it is vital to pack your torches! We bought our 4 kids aged between 5 and 10, they loved it here, they were free to run around, and on windy days there were kites everywhere in the sky!
They don't allow campfires but we used disposable BBQ'S (raised off ground) and they were happy for campers to put sticks on this and make their own campfires as long as they were raised and people were safe and made sure they were put out properly.
When you arrive you can drive through and pick your own pitch and set up, they will come round and collect your money.
We booked for a week and stayed 10 days, and we are doing the same thing this July. Fab for campers that love the outdoors, walking and are not fussed about amenities. Also amazing at night time for star gazers!

Super spot for exploring the Coast from Weymouth to Lulworth. We were a group of 15 and had plenty of space and privacy. Site is basic and the shower block is too - but hey - that's camping for you!
Cup of tea/coffee available in the morning for 70p and at only £12 per night for a tent its good value.
We arrived on the Friday of the bank holiday weekend and they were easily able to accommodate us which was a huge relief as there is no 'sorry we're full and you should have reserved' mentality. Lovely couple that look after the site and the pub at the end of the road (Smugglers Inn) is fantastic and serves great real ales and fab food.
For a laid back, back to nature style of camping this is your place!

A basic site, but all in our party thought it good value for £12 a night/£75 a week! We stayed 9 nights, camped away from the road. The site is a field with facilities in one block.
The showers did look a bit grim, but once you're in they were great! They could do with a few hooks in the toilet block to hang your towel and wash bag on and some broken ones in the showers need replacing to make life easier. We always found them clean, plenty of toilet paper.
Nearest shop is a Co-Op a couple of miles towards Weymouth. Lots to do in the surrounding area. A lovely walk across the fields to The Smugglers Inn down on the coast.

Me and my friends absolutely loved this site. There was 6 of us, 2 girls and 4 boys, ranging between the ages of 17 and 20 and we can say that this camp is not only appropriate for families (as said in most reviews), but also very good for a group of teenagers / young adults.
As students we were looking for a cheap, fun, seaside camping holiday, without having to give up on basic stuff such as running water, showers and toilets and this camp delivered just that. The price was very very good when compared with any other campsites in the area (12£ per night or 75£ per week, per tent big or small, not per person).
There were no extra charges for the showers or cars, we drove in, picked a free spot, set up our 6 man tent and simply paid 75£ for the week. We were also allowed to park our car by the tent.
The showers and toilet block looked a bit old but was nevertheless very clean and didn't smell bad. There was always plenty of toilet roll and one of the days we stayed around the camp I saw the owner cleaning the toilets and showers 3 times! There was plenty of really hot water in the showers and two plugs in the toilets to charge phones/ use hairdryers. We pitched our tent quite close to the road and had no problem with noise. Ideal site for stargazing as there is hardly any light around, we saw an amazing meteor shower.
There are some lovely views of the countryside around the camp, it's a mile from osmington beach, a lovely pebble beach, and about 4 miles from Weymouth along the coastal path which has some breathtaking views. We only had access to a car for 3 days and ended up walking into Weymouth and back twice, something that was surprisingly not that tasking as the views were just amazing. There are a few pubs around within walking distance and a small shop about 15 minutes walk down the road.
The owners of the camp were very friendly and happy to direct us to beach / shops / pubs etc, and provided hot tea and coffee most days from 7 am for 70p a cup. They also sold snacks, cans of drink, disposable bbq's, matches, gas canisters and other small 'emergency' bits for very reasonable prices from outside their caravan.
All in all a very enjoyable holiday for a first time camper such as me, will definitely return next summer.

This is a great little campsite. They don't take bookings and on a hot sunny May bank holiday I was worried I would get turned away, especially as everywhere else was full to capacity, but after a phone call they assured me that they would try to find me somewhere. As it turned out there were still some very nice areas left to pitch and it was nice to be able to choose a spot rather than have a rather soulless rectangle allotted. Very friendly atmosphere and absolutely no problems with noise even though the site got very full indeed.
The facilities are basic although to have a hot shower and a toilet and running water is certainly great as far as I'm concerned - if I wanted the Ritz I'd stay there (lottery win pending naturally!) For £12 a night you cannot go wrong and the surrounding countryside was absolutely breathtaking.
I found that showering by about 9.30am I had more than enough hot water and I only had to wait behind one woman one day. There was always plenty of toilet paper too! They don't provide soap though so get some antibacterial gel or carry a little bar with you to the toilets.
There were some caravans and camper vans dotted around but it was predominantly tents and they let you park by your tent too which is great.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I would love to go back there to explore more of the surrounding area without paying the premium price of the 'better' campsites. The owners are very friendly and helpful and I think they have a lovely site that more than caters to the needs of the happy camper!
