We have just returned from 9 nights camping on this site. This is a family run site, and everyone from the owners to the bar staff were really friendly and helpful. Its a great site for families, indoor pool, amusements, takeaway, bar, and children's park. The toilets were very clean despite it being fully booked over Jubilee.
The location is good right next to beach so on good days we tended to make the most of the site but there are lots of places to drive out to day trips. Barmouth can get very busy for parking but trains stop just at the top of the road if you wanted to leave the car on site.
A nice pub is the Al-Y-Brin? come out of site turn left on to main road, over bridge and about 5 mins drive on hill on the right. Its a hotle and lets non residents in for food. Good choice and good value.
The nearest pub, is ok for a drink, nice beer garden and terrace next to water but food, mainly out of freezer. Has a play area at back that our toddler liked I was a little weary as some of the equipment seemed a little worn out in places.

Loved this site - both adults and kids were sad when it was time to leave.
We stayed here over the Jubilee bank holiday when the site was fully booked. The wardens are helpful and friendly - we were quite late in arriving but they were very understanding.
On-site is a well stocked shop, laundrette (£3 per wash / £1. 50 per dryer), modern toilet and shower block with free hot water, play park, arcade (with bingo every night!), takeaway, pub and swimming pool (need to book a slot for a swim).
The site is right by a large sandy beach - ideal for paddling, kite flying, sandcastles etc. What more can you ask for?!
Security staff had been drafted in for the Jubilee celebrations. Although reassuring to have, they really seemed surplus to requirements as we didn't see or hear any anti-social behaviour.
As for the surrounding area - one wet afternoon we walked along the beach and up through another caravan park and came across The Wayside pub/restaurant which also had a takeaway fish shop attached. We had Sunday lunch in the pub - the food was pretty poor and we wouldn't return for a meal but it's probably a great place to sit and have a drink on the patio on a sunny day as it has great views over the sea.
We also had a bike ride through to Barmouth - 4 miles each way and not too hilly. On the return journey you can cycle along the promenade and cross the railway line-apart from a very steep lane which we pushed the bikes up, it makes for an easier ride -cut through the caravan park a bit further along to get onto the beach to get directly back to Islawrffordd.
Barmouth is a typical seaside town with shops, cafes, supermarket and a beach with donkey rides. Nice enough place for a day trip, but not really our cup of tea for a full week-it was nice to return to Talybont at the end of the day.
We stayed at Islawrffordd for 5 nights but would have been happy to stay longer and hope to return in the future.

Just got back from a Jubilee Weeks stay at Islawrfford and I have to say the site is in a fantastic location, mountains behind you and sea in front it's beautiful however the facilities unfortunately do not fare well against the high pitch price to stay
Facilities
Toilets/showers
1 Key per party for access into the showers/toilets I personally dislike key fob entry as its difficult to manage with 2 adults and 2 children and the toilets/showers are a fair walk from the super pitches. Showers have push buttons that stay on for about 7 seconds so showering was a pain, they were however clean and warm and there was plenty toilets and showers for the size of the site.
Unfortunately they shut at 9pm leaving 1 toilet for each sex until 7am the following morning so if you like to shower before bed you cant, very badly organised in my view for a premium priced site I didn't like this organisation of the showers/toilets at all
Pool/Leisure
Again pool very clean but only 3 x 1 hour sessions per day that need to be pre booked so its hard to get a swim and you feel like you have to base your day around the times, static owners have the use of the pool for the rest of the time very inconvenient I thought.
Boiling hot they had to put fans in the spectator area as it was like sitting in a sauna there was a nice hot tub and sauna poolside also but the pool was small with a plinth all the way around you had to step over to get in the pool, we used it 4 times ok for a basic quick swim but didn't like the pre booking process.
Nice fenced in play area for the children however wouldn't be much interest for children over 7 I would say. Amusement arcade on site that my daughter loved and a great shop selling most things with lovely staff very helpful with lots of local knowledge they sold alcohol, sweets, papers toys fresh frozen and tinned food and loads of beach stuff plus hot pasties etc.
Pot wash very disappointing very low sinks and I am only 5ft 4, boiling water but push button taps that took 20 minutes to fill a sink only 3 sinks for the whole site but I never queued in fairness but felt it was poor for the premium pitch cost it was however clean with waste bins provided.
Fantastic takeaway great staff great food great prices there is also a bar/restaurant which we didn't use as it was quite small and always looked packed.
Pitches
Great size very clean and manicured great drainage and courtesy light, water waste and TV point not too close and quiet 10/10
Great for beach and walking holidays. 5 miles one way to Barmouth which was lovely not tacky with a great beach with lots of chippies, cafes, discount shops and a great camping shop and a factory outlet store. Five miles the other way was pretty quaint Harlech with a castle and some lovely shops we also visited Shell Island, Portmadoc and Blackrock sands all very nice.
Staff were helpful reception and site was very clean with lots of bins, the site is mainly seasonal and statics now so the touring area only has about 20 pitches I enjoyed the holiday but felt for the cost it didn't meet our expectations.

Just returned from an amazing week and cannot speak highly enough of this site!
We were blessed with the weather which always makes a difference but nothing can take away from the quality of the resort.
There has obviously been some money spent recently and it shows. Reception is an impressive building in an impressive complex. Check-in is quick and easy, you pay a £20 cash deposit for your barrier fob, returned when you check out. Staff are helpful and friendly.
The site is split into three distinctive sections. Statics, tourers and tents. The touring pitches are dominated by the seasonal trade so book in advance if you have a caravan.
We were on the tent field with EHU, pitch 50.There are 9 EHU pitches which can be pre-booked. These pitches are very large with hook-up, TV point, water and drainage.
The non-electric pitches are a bit more of a free-for-all but everyone seemed happy.
There is a modern shower block in this field, very nice. A short walk further to the washing up area, playground and indoor pool. You have to book your times for the pool but, unlike previous years, this is free.
A short walk further and you have the bar, amusements and takeaway. These are not too seedy or over-priced.
The area itself is amazing with the beautiful Snowdonia mountains above you, and the big, sandy beach to the side of you. Quite literally to the side of you for the tents!
There is absolutely loads to do in the area and we could not fit everything in within 5 days.
Negatives?
EHU pitch 50 is very far from the hook up. My 50 feet cable only just made it! The other EHU pitches were fine.
The tents are exposed so beware when it`s windy!
The odd bit of dog mess about. Not the fault of the site, owners should be more responsible. Sites rules state that anyone caught allowing this will be immediately removed!
All in all a superb experience. Would highly reccomend and we intend to return next year!

I just love this site. Our second visit in two years and some fantastic weather. Although when the wind blows it can get quite blustery, though there are some sheltered pitches. This site is still immaculately clean. Shop still well stocked and toilets immaculately clean.
We were charged for swimming last year but this year it is free (one free swim per day per family) but you need to be booked in! this is so the pool doesn't get too busy which is fair enough. We went swimming in the sea which is only 2 minutes walk from the site which has very nice sandy beach.
Went with the family this year (5 pitches in all), my mother & father hiring a static on site which was very modern & well equipped.
The take away fish & chips were very good on site, didn't try the bar food though some of the family said it was nothing special. The staff on site very helpful and always gave cheery service.
Lots to do around here, bike rides, walks, site seeing.
Would be very happy to go back, still a lot more I want to do around here.

Have just returned from a three night camping trip at this site with my partner and our two children, and I have to say that the facilities on the site where probably the best I have experienced to date. The toilet and shower block was kept very clean at all times, with free hot water for both sinks and showers. Entry to the WC block was controlled by a key fob, with the main toilet block closing at 9pm (at this time a small WC unit at the front of the building had to be used instead).
Other facilities on the site included a 3 sink washing up room (once again kept very clean), a children’s play area, amusements, a fast food outlet and an on site convenience shop, all of which served their purpose and were well maintained. The site also has a bar and an indoor swimming pool, but we didn’t make use of these on this trip so I am unable to comment.
The camping field is located right next to the beach (separated by a grass/rock bank and entered via the sites own private slipway). The beach was great for the kids, and ideal for flying kites, playing ball games, or building sand castles, as the tide went out quite a way leaving plenty of beach to play on. The kids did paddle in the sea but it was a little too cold for me. One criticism that I have (and this is nothing to do with the site itself) was the rubbish left on the beach and around the slipway (ie Bottles, cans, packaging, and in some cases dog poo on the beach), which is not ideal when kids are playing nearby. Being so close to the sea did mean that camping field was a little exposed to the wind (quite strong at times), but when the sun was shining you couldn’t ask for a better location. Entry to the whole park was barrier controlled (by using the same key fob mentioned above), and each section (camping, touring and static vans) separated from the other.
The camping field was a bit of a free for all with no designated pitches (and no advance bookings taken), which did mean that you could end up being quite close to the next tent, and unless you had quite high wind breakers you wouldn't have much privacy. After heavy rain some parts of the field became quit boggy and unusable, so you would need to be careful where you pitched your tent. Electric hook ups were available but these seemed to be in short supply for the size of the site and once again obtained on a first come first served basis. The site did have a 'no noise after 11pm' policy that seemed to be adhered to on the whole but not really enforced, and our trip was spoilt slightly by a family that seemed to want the whole site to listen to their music up until 11pm - not very considerate when you have young children that you need to get to sleep before 11pm. Its a shame that the minority have to spoil it for the majority!
Overall this was a great site, which was kept very clean and tidy, provided great facilities and was ideally situated for the beach. I would recommend staying here, and I would have no hesitation about returning to this site again in the future.

Stopped here for a week early June. Found the site to be one of our best (we have been caravanners for 15 years). The site is kept very tidy & clean. Loved the fully serviced pitches. Nice main shower block on camping field.
The weather was fantastic so only used the pool & facilities once. Have to pay £10 for the four of us to swim for one hour which is a bit pricey however it was not overcrowded at all. Swam in the sea too which is 90 seconds walk away, lovely sandy beach too.
Well stocked shop not too overpriced. Mind the road leading to the site it is a bit narrow and can get busy but always managed with the passing places. Plenty to do & see around there too, we had plenty days out doing things. Staff very pleasant & helpful. Will definitely go back there.

The weather was fantastic and the location of the site is brilliant and so is the toilet block, which was always clean. There was a small play area for younger children which was well maintained.
The site has a pub selling bar meals which were poor and took an age to arrive. The site has a fast food type takeaway which was fine especially the 'foot long Hot Dogs' which my 12 year old loved. The site also has a pool which has to pre-booked and paid for,but as the weather was glorious we didn't use it.
There is a shop on site selling all your daily needs a tad on the expensive side but not too bad. The site has a security fob entry system which you need when entering or leaving the site you also need it to access the toilet block, you have to leave a £20 deposit for the Fob when you arrive but this is refunded when you leave.
The main toilet block on the Tents Camping field closes at 9.00pm and you have to use a smaller toilet (But no shower) in the same block until 07.00am.
The site is about 5 miles from Barmouth and the same from Harlech.
I found the site to be busy but not over crowded and I will return next year!

Shower & Toilet Block: Superb facilities, clean and warm.
Swimming Pool: Restricted booking but good value for money and family friendly.
Shop: well stocked but overpriced.
Site: The field flooded when we were there so bit of a nightmare last night baling out - be careful where you pitch and check the forecast before you go. The tent next door had a river running through it with a visiting frog!
Location: Superb scenery and very close too beach, however we had 3 days battering by wind and rain - when it rains and blows it is not nice!
Clubhouse: Henrys bar was not to our taste, not particularly attractive place to take a young family.
Barmouth: The worst one way system in Wales, especially on a Bank Holiday weekend! The town has a lovely position which is spoilt by the amusement arcades and fairground slap bang in the middle of it. Far too many baseball caps and staffies on a bank holiday weekend.

We have just returned from our first family camping holiday and have had a fabulous time. The site was perfect, the camping field was right next to the sea (bit too close with a 2 year old :-) ), the toilets / showers were spotless (and free) and the owners were really friendly. The site shop was great - stocked a bit of everything and the staff were really helpful. The play area was a good size and well cared for - only problem was that it doesn't open until 10.30, whereas the kids were up at 7.
We have 4 children, aged 12, 11, 8 and 2 and there was something for all of them. CCTV covers all the site, all residents have security fobs to gain access to fields and toilet blocks and there are security guards so there was a feeling of complete safety for the children to run around - and did they! Sea air knocked them out so they slept well despite the couple of very windy nights.
The weather was great for most of our holiday - might struggle to find cheap things to do if it rained. Even the indoor swimming pool costs £3 per adult and £2 per child for an hour session. There are bus stops and train station just at front of the site so could go in to Barmouth or further afield if need be.
The main draw back is that you can't book an electric hook up. Think there were about 20 hook ups on the camping field, but it is first come - first served and you don't pay extra if you get one. There were at least 80 tents there during our stay so at least 60 couldn't get a hook up. We were lucky and got one- we wouldn't have stayed otherwise as the kids are frightened of the dark. However, we were happy to share ours and found a lot of the others were too.
You can't pre book tents but the plus side of this is that you can turn up and just pay for a couple of days then if the weather is good, you can just pay for the extra nights, rather than book for a week and feel obliged to stay.
The eldest child had been reluctant to go camping but has now made us promise to go back next year so what a result!
