In 2009 we visited 3 / 4 times between June and September. There were 6 of us in two tents, we could always find neighbouring pitches. Even on B hols weekend (just)
The site is very friendly, great staff, superbly clean facilities and great little on site shop for general food and camping odds and sods.
My 2 year old daughter and 5 year old nephew love it, the camping field is maybe 30 yards from the beach, separated by a dune.
The beach is nice and the sea was warm enough until September, Gulf Stream apparently!
Barmouth itself is fine, nice walks and the usual shops selling tat. Not much else there! As long as you expect a typical British seaside resort you wont be disappointed.
Take some spare gear with you if you are cautious as there is not really any decent campshops nearby so if your guys are a bit frayed or you don't have many spare pegs take a few with you.
In 2010 we will start our 2nd season of camping in May so hopefully get a few more visits to this overall SUPERB site.

Excellent site and well looked after. Pitch was excellent (hard standing). Access to beach and and surrounding areas was great. Facilities were very clean and showers were nice and hot. There was lots to do on site, from bar and amusements, to fish and chips. The local town Barmouth was a ten minute drive and offered lots of shops, pubs and a fair for the kids. Barmouth was also accessible via a long walk along the beach. Stayed previous year in a tent. Highly recommend this site.

Just returned from an eight night stay at this wonderful site. Facilities are superb, new shower block is spotless and very user friendly. Good well stocked shop on site, albeit a tad pricey. Good pot washing area, but would have concerns that maybe more washing up areas required especially in peak season. Very friendly staff, always eager to help. Superb location of camping field, right on the beach. Weather was glorious during our stay which helped a lot!
Good sized children's play area. Very family friendly site, take away food available and small arcade and pub on site though not used by ourselves. Would definitely return.

We stayed on the site for the bank holiday weekend, three tents in total. We took our dog and were able to camp in a 'dog friendly' area of the field.
The site is in a great area, literally on the beach and two minutes from the Sands leisure complex where there are more shops and takeaways.
It is also only 5 minutes by car into Barmouth and just 2 minutes in the car to Tal Y Bont where there is a Spar.
The facilities on the site are superb, the toilet blocks are excellent, really clean, well maintained and pleasant. There are hairdryers and plugs for your straighteners. The takeaway and shop are also really good. I would recommend the chips and cheese from the takewaway and the fresh croissants from the shop!
The site was busy at it was bank holiday but there are still plenty of showers (which are always hot and powerful) and the site did not feel overcrowded. The camping field is nice and flat. You are also given a fob on arrival for access to the field and toilets for extra security.
We had an excellent weekend and would definitely use the site again in the future.

This site has been improved greatly by the new shower/toilet block. We stopped for two nights and enjoyed every minute. It was busy, it being bank holiday but I had no problem getting a shower etc. They were very clean and very tidy.
Most of the site is flat with just the one side closest to the sea being on a slope.
Surrounding area of the site is made up of mainly static caravans. With the beach just 100 yards from the field it's ideal if you like a stroll along the beach at night. We didn't use the swimming pool / bar etc. As its not our bag but the shop is very good and the shop owner most helpful.
The only small negative is the lane on the approach to the site which is quite narrow and during busy periods can be a bit of a pain if you meet a big caravan coming the other way.
All in all very good.

Splendid site, a little expensive but well worth it. Having a new state of the art toilet block built ready for next year. At present showers are available to use within the pool complex. Friendly staff, shop well stocked and offers a wide range of gifts and beach wear. We had one of the super pitches all singing all dancing.Tv socket, elsan disposal, grey waste, light and water. Well spaced not close, site mainly static vans, all very well kept, nice walks from site. Direct access to beach. Toilets could do with better lighting, but very clean. Only bad point - the noisy jets, we even saw the pilot it was so low.

We just come back from our first ever trip after visiting this site and we will definitely be going back. From when we first set foot in the reception the staff were friendly and helpful. The weather was not very good and I'm very grateful to the warden who advised me to pitch on the slope rather than the flat spot I was planning as when we left there was about 5 inches of water flooding that area. The showers were better than I expected, though the floor was flooded. The water wasn't that bad, I've showered in colder. The toilets were clean and adequate too. The shop has most things you'll need and the take away was very nice. Great for the kids as you are right on the beach. All in all very happy and to top it all it's converted my wife who was very unsure of camping.

We ended up on this site after been turned away from Dyfrynn Seaside estate for nothing more than being too big a family, as there were 5 individual parties of the same family, when we had holidayed there for over 50 yrs, every year, and never caused a bit of bother. But I am proud to say that this is a much better site, people much friendlier, much nicer club house, plenty of good clean toilets, loads for the kids to do and lastly the tents are right next to the beach, so no hard treck over hot sand dunes. We only came for a couple of days, but had such a great time we ended up staying a whole week although the weather was lousey. Another added bonus was that the showers were very private and free! Had such a great time we are comming back in Sept with other friends and family.

Just returned from what should have been a two week holiday here with our three children aged 15,14 and 5. We went to this site last year at around the same time and had a great time, but it had been sunny. This time we had gale force winds with driving rain for 6 days out of the 8 we stayed, our tent then snapped with the force of the wind and we gave up and came home.
This site is ideal as long as the sun is shining, but after a couple of days of wind and rain we had puddles all over the camping field that came up to my 5 year olds knees. It was so boggy that our trailer started to sink and it only got worse.
The shower and toilet portacabins (that are being replaced by a new permanent block next year) are always flooded with water and the showers were cold even when we tried at various times of the day.
With no protection from the wind, as you are camping next to the beach, most of the people who came lastedonly a night with most suffering damage to their tents.
There is nothing to do if it rains other than go to dollys internet cafe in town, but even that did not entertain a 5 year old.
There are no refunds or credit notes for camping here either so beware of paying for a long holiday on day one! My advice would be to pay for a couple of days at a time and watch the weather forecast!
However, bins were emptied several times a day and the toilets and showers were cleaned regularly, its just people had to fasten the doors back or children could not get into or out of the toilet/shower blocks due to the wind, and fastening doors open meant the floors were flooded with rain water!
We often camp when it is raining but do not feel this field or the facilities cater for this kind of weather!
Hope this helps.

We have spent May bank holiday on this site, although we only lasted 1 night due to the high winds. We have been to this site a few times. The site is great, but it is always windy as just over the hill there is the sea. When we went for the bank holiday they just let you pitch where you could on the tent field, which wasn't great as you felt on top of one another. The site costs £20 p/night, there is a club on site and a pool, although we never got to use them. The downside is the toilets they soon get flooded with water & blocked and they wasn't the cleanest. The showers was OK but you have to keep pressing them to keep the water flowing and theres not much room in them. The location is lovely as you can walk on the beach in either direction for miles and it is safe for the kids, only watch the tide as it does come in quick and can cut you off!
