The campsite has new owners, but is much as before, and stays open for arrivals from the late ferry. The new management appear to be making owners of permanent vans remove all the shed-like additions to their vans which made areas of the site a bit like a shanty town. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The san facs are basic but the new owners intend to improve them.

We used this site for first time in September, read the reviews which were a little mixed.
The site is literally a few minutes drive from ferry port, so really convenient. They are very welcoming, we came on an evening ferry which arrived an hour late but they stayed open to let us in.
The site is along side the Caen Canal which provides pleasant and interesting walks. You can walk to the town in 10 minutes, plenty of places to eat, some really good, ask reception. The town and around is worth a full day or more visit, we stayed 3 nights in the end before travelling south.
Quite a large site with 2 toilet blocks, one being better than other. Facilities tired but perfectly adequate. WiFi never seemed to work.
We would definitely use the site again.

First time we have used this site as we were catching the 8. 30am ferry the next morning. After reading a few earlier reviews we weren't sure what to expect but a few people that we met on our travels said there was nothing wrong with the site. It was very easy to find, quick check in & then we found our way over to the side where other Brits pitch up in large open easy access pitches. £20 euros with EHU so ok. Shower facilities a bit dated but ok. Easy to refuel at the fuel station over the road along with the Carrefour for last minute shopping & wine. As it was a Friday evening the seasonal part of the site filled up a bit but it didn't bother us & we got a good nights sleep. There was free wifi but it didn't work well for me. We went into the port area in the evening for a last French meal & drinks & there was plenty of choice. As it is so close to the port we would definitely use it again but maybe have a couple of nights next time to check out the area.

Brittany Ferries is fortunate to have the obliging Camp Municipal Les Pommiers, Ouistreham, just five minutes minutes from the ferry terminal.
In spite of docking at 22. 30, instead of 21. 30 and then half an hour to disembark, madam was waiting to book us into the site - having been notified by the ferry company of the late arrival.
In June there is plenty of room. Head down the one-way to the bottom of the site, turn left at the T-junction and then take the 4th or 5th alley on the left. Here you will find plenty of open space, no hedges, only trees on well cut grass with plenty of points for power and water. This is where the Brits stop and some remain hooked-up for an overnight stop and 07. 00 gate opening leaving plenty of time to catch the 08. 30 ferry. The sanitary facilities, while not the newest were clean and had been recently painted.
It's 30minute walk through the pedestrian gate to the canal tow path with numerous places to eat in the town.
There is a Carrefour close to the site for last minute shopping and for a mega Carrefour head towards Caen and take turning on right marked Herouville Centre. You will see it. Ahead

Used as a stop over on leaving Ouisterham on an early ferry
Gates open until 23:00 and reopen at 7:00am Many Brits here doing the same Reception speak English It was find a spot for yourself once paid but it is a big site and no difficulty encountered Many caravanners found bigger pitches which allowed them to remain hooked up
As reported Hypermarket etc within 5 mins drive
Many of the pitches seem to be best described as semi permanent with outhouses attached to caravans and attended gardens
Felt totally safe It is a basic site with no loo seats or paper One worker we spoke to is of Canadian English descent so was able to advise us of a walk along the canal into Ouisterham ( approx 30 mins)accesible from a gate at the bottom of the site
Departure was smooth with barriers raised and we were in the queue to checin within 7 minutes
Would we use again A definite yes

Stayed here for a stopover out and in from caen. Site is ideal if your on the later ferry arrival at 9 30 as Theyr open until 11pm for the late ferries.
It's a basic municipal site and does the job as a stopover. We found the receptionist very friendly and spoke English. It's tight to get round if you have a twin axle and pitches also small but it's not a site you would stay on for more than a night.
We felt safe despite other comments left on here and people just got on with their own business and left us to it.
It cost €23 with ehu for 2 adults and 2kids. We also booked the site over the Internet and they let me book both outward and inward pitches on advance.
There's also a fuel station right near it on the main road which is automated and cheap fuel and a supermarket and McDonald's. All within 5 mins of the site.

French Camp, conveniently close after landing, and everything is available for breakfast without leaving the field. The camp will receive visitors who come off the boat late of Portsmouth. Sites gwatsad and wide enough. Supermarket nearby. Direct access to the wonderful bike path that leads to the city of Caen, and to the beaches. A good place to relax for a while after the expedition of the border to benefit sea.
Gwersyll Ffrengig, yn gyfleus o agos ar ôl glanio, a phob dim ar gyfer brecwast ar gael heb adael y maes. Mae'r gwersyll yn derbyn ymwelwyr sy'n dod oddi ar y cwch hwyr o Bortsmouth. Safleodd gwatsad ac yn ddigon eang. Archfarchnad gerllaw. Mynediad uniongyrchol at y llwybr beics gwych sy'n arwain I ddinas Caen, ac at y traethau. Lle da I ymlacio am ychydig ar ôl yr hirdaith o Glawdd Offa at fôr Udd.

We were concerned having read poor reviews so carried onto the aire next to the port. This didn't take British credit cards and the phone number is this site. We went back and were pitched on hardstanding with other motorhomes also catching the ferry the next day. With a hookup, only €2 more than the aire, without the noise.
Nice walk into town along the canal accessed directly from the site.
Facilities were simple but the site met our needs.
Left at 7am, booked onto the 8. 30am ferry, in a cabin at 8. 15am!

We stayed for 1 night prior to catching the ferry the next morning. Its about 1km from ferry port and restaurants if you want a bite to eat. A basic, functional site popular with locals for fishing I think. Mainly grass but with tarmaced motorhome parking around the perimeter, lots of elec hook up. Barrier opens at 6. 30am if you need to catch early ferry. Didn't spend much time there but seemed ok, quiet at night.

This is the obvious place to stay for those arriving on the 2130 ferry at Ouistreham. I'm astonished that other reviewers have discussed whether or not they felt 'intimidated', whether the other site residents were rather rough and lower class, and whether it would be better and safer to stay overnight on the dockside. Those things need nailing firmly as unecessary fears and worries.
The site is open for a long period of the year, out of season a phone call warning them of your late arrival might be prudent, but in the summer the office is open and staffed for late arrivals. I have never known it necessary to make a firm booking in advance. If you arrive in France with no euro cash then they accept credit cards, they let you pitch where you choose, and you can often find room to stay overnight without unhitching. The bigger of the toilet blocks is the best of the bunch and perfectly salubrious.
And finally it is not simply a site for a single night - it's perfectly sensible to stay here for a little longer to visit the Normandy landing beaches, the Bayeux tapestry, and other local attractions. It is not a long stay destination, but it really isn't a camp site to approach with fear and trepidation as some earlier reviews hinted at.
