Just had 1 night here, a bit of a last minute decision. Let me just say this is one of the nicest, cleanest, friendliest sites we have stopped on.
Lovely welcome from the owners/warden who showed us to a perfect little spot, toilets accessed by key which is good because this means the toilet blocks were not the entertainment for the younger kids! Nice spacious, clean and plenty of toilet roll, yes a bit of grass on the floor, but if you don't like grass, don't go live in a field for a couple of nights!
5 min walk to 2 pubs in village and both do food, but note they don't open until 6pm. Fantastic fish shop Southgate Fisheries, put Ripon in your Satnav and it will take you through a small estate and here you will find this chippy.
Lovely location, yes the crows/cockerel like to get up quite early, but all in all this is a brilliant site and we are already planning our next visit.

Really nice camp site, bit more up market camping than we are use to, have normally settled for a field with a toilet but just had a baby so wanted some where a bit more local with a shower block. Facilities reasonable, floor of shower block a little dirty at times but wear flip flops in the shower if this would bother you.
Lots of space on site despite it saying 'site full'. Owners very friendly and site quite at night.
Pretty village with two pubs. Local shop and play area close. Would recommend, we are visiting again this weekend for a couple of nights.

Stayed 3 nights at this site in our tent and would recommend people to visit.
Toilet and shower facilities are average. Generally clean but the floors become mudded easily and don't seem to get cleaned very often. Also carry a spare loo roll as from time to time they can run out.
Washing up area is located behind the shower block with one sink that is clean and sheltered.
Nice 5 minute walk into Bishop Monkton where you'll find 2 pubs, a local shop and a lovely stream running through the village. We walked the 3 or so miles along the river into Ripon which was a pleasant walk - caught the bus back though!
Overall, a pleasant site, adequate facilities, nice location.
You may have to get up a bit earlier than planned as the local Rooks/Crows are early risers!

We've just spent a couple of nights at this campsite, with our two young children - one 3yrs, one 1.5yrs.
The site was great, accessible, but quiet. With nice views [and friendly farm animals]. The facilities were more than adequate and very clean. And very reasonably priced - our 8 berth tent only cost us £14 per night [non-electric hook-up].
The site did have a 'no ball games' rule, but that didn't detract. No play area was available on site, but a short walk brings you to a small play area. A little longer walk and you find a newly refurbished, larger activity play area.
The 'site full' sign went up during our stay, but everyone still had plenty of space.
Bishop Monkton is a very quaint village, with a stream running through it and plenty of ducks to entertain on a stroll around. A local shop [about 5 mins walk] stocks all the essentials. The village also has a couple of nice looking pubs, but we didn't use either of these, so can't comment further.
If you are looking for a quiet, enjoyable, family friendly site, then give this a go. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Stopped at this site for one night whilst enjoying a day a Ripon races.
The road from the A1 to the campsite is quite narrow in places but ample passing places.
On arrival you are advised to park up and book in, this is done down at the owners house. You are then given a key for the toilets and a swipe card for the automatic gate at the entrance of the site. You have to pay a £10 deposit for these which you get back on departure.
The woman I met was very friendly and told me where to pitch. I was charged £10 for the one night stay.
The site itself is very well laid out. There are hard standing pitches for caravans and camper vans and the tents were all at the top end of the site.
The toilet block as one loo for males at one end of the block and the showers are inside the block where the ladies loo's are, a bit strange but it seems to work. The washing facilities are at the back of the block.
The tent pitches are nice and flat and although there had been quite a lot of rain it was well drained. The whole site is surrounded by fields and very rural.
The site is 2 minutes walk into Bishop Munkton. Wonderfully quaint village with 2 pubs a general store and wonderful cottages. I ate in the pub at the bottom of the village, here you'll find great food and real ale.
The site is about 10 minutes drive from Ripon, I went to the race meeting which was on that weekend, easy drive in and back.
The site is very child friendly, it as a children's play area and plenty of room to kick a ball about, for the adults there's a fishing lake nearby and lots of lovely walks.
Overall a great site and will go back at some point but this time for a bit longer to explore more af the surrounding area

We've just got home from spending 3 nights at the campsite, and what a fantastic site, I've been to around 15 different site around the country and this tops the lot.
The site is only small but everybody was really polite/helpful,the toilet block only small but did the job and what a village.
Bishop Monkton was in the running for village of the year last year and no wonder,There was a little stream running full length of the village,we had a duck race on the Sunday, followed by a bingo night and then a poker night on the Monday,by the end of that I was known throughout the village it had that sort of a feel to it.The Masons food was outstanding £10.95 for two courses and couldn't fault it,iwe couldn't fault the food at all during our visit at all the places we ate.
We paid £11 a night for our tent there was me and my girlfriend so £5.50 each per night,so it was well worth the money.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough,if its a village life you want if only for a short time Bishop Monkton is the place to be.

A lovely field site in an excellent area. We were here for the Yorkshire Show although we visited other places as well.
The owner was very friendly but the toilet block is curious. We had to wait a couple of times because most space is taken up with family shower rooms which include the toilets. Remember to ask for shower tokens when you arrive. There are keys for the block which I kept forgetting and separate doors (to the same block!) for male and female. Very odd.
In spite of that it's a really good site and we'd stay again if we were in the area.

Visited this site at back end of May for 3 nights, weather was perfect and so was the site. We were pitched in the rally field which suited us as there seemed to be more room between units. The showers could be used by families which made things easier.
The site is well placed for visiting Ripon and Fountains Abbey ( Highly recommended ) The village of Bishop Monkton is idyllic with 2 nice pubs ( the nearest to site serving fab meals )

Delightful little village location for an overnight stop/couple of nights stay.
Received a friendly greeting on arrival and invited to select a spot in the 'camping field' just outside site entrance - as we didn't need electric hook-up! Noted that some of the half-dozen touring caravans on edge of field nearest main site were 'plugged in' to leccy.
We pitched on opposite side of field 30 metres or so away from road alongside field (village traffic can still be noisy!) with only birdsong and the occasional 'working' farm noises. Just fine!
Toilets & facilities were minimal and kept locked (a key was given to you on checking-in). Could cause queues when busy.Ladies! We found it all to be clean and well looked after.
We certainly didn't fancy being penned-in with the caravans & campers in the main site (which actually looked smaller than the camping field) - they seemed to be pitched too close to each other!
The village has have two pubs and village shop selling almost everything - not a 5 minute walk away!
Moor End Farm suited us perfectly for a dress-rehersal for our holiday next week in Somerset/Wales. And good value at £10/night!
Will definitely visit again!

Just arrived back from the Bank holiday weekend, lovely part of the country to visit with lots to do in the area, a sweet little village close by with a great park for the children to let off steam.
Campsite was very clean, quiet and the warden was very helpful from the moment we arrived. The showers and toilets where okay and we never had to wait to use the facilities.
My only two negative points would be, that the site wasn't very child friendly, with ball forbidden signs everywhere and I felt that there where to many resident caravan owners who where, I must say very friendly and polite but you felt that you where intruding and we seemed to keep telling the children not to do this or that and be quiet, not fun for them really.
Lovely site for a couple but not really for a family unless you are staying in a tent with a few others.
