We spent 5 nights at Windmills - young (27 yrs) couple. Upon arrival we were impressed with the views, the cleanliness and peacefulness of the site and facilities. The owners were friendly and seemed willing to help - but we didn't need anything.
We pitched up along the edge as it can be a bit windy as you're up high, but the views are amazing. One way looks out over the sea to Saundersfoot and the other looks over Tenby and close by Caldey Island.
The walk into Tenby from the site is 3/4 mile or 10 to 15 minutes straight down a country path, but be prepared for a uphill walk back (after the first few days it gets easier!) - but taxi's aren't too expensive if needed. The facilities are very clean (as a first time camper I was very impressed!).
There is only one shower per male / female block but we never queued. The site is basically two fields so quite small and very very quiet. There is a freezer for freezer packs and a hairdryer point if needed. 'Kitchen' sinks are by the shower blocks.
As for Tenby itself - very pretty. There is everything you need (Tesco Express etc) and some good pubs and fish and chip shops. The Pembrokeshire coastal path cuts through Tenby. In one direction is Saundersfoot.
It's about a 4 mile walk - it takes about 2 hours to get there and be prepared for some uphill hikes through woodland - but the views are worth it. If you walk in the other direction from Tenby it is more of a true coastal clifftop walk - again, lovely views. Close by Caldey Island is also worth a visit - if not just for the handmade chocolate and fudge, and the views of the Welsh coast.
Would definitely recommend the site and Tenby itself for a peaceful get away, and we'd stay there again.

The view from the site are better than any I've experienced in Tenby (I've stayed at four and visited several more). Guests should be aware that this is a site which is quite clear about the type of the clientèle it hopes to attract - no large groups, no noisy teenagers etc. Ideal for those who want a relaxing break.
No complaints, but I like flat ground and I found the slight inclines a bother. If I could make one small suggestion, it would be a couple more hooks in the shower cubicles. I found taking my 5yr-old in with me hard work not to get everything wet!
I'm sure we'll use the site again.

Just returned from 7 days at this site.
The view as you come onto the site is fabulous. Got a pitch with electric. All pitches with electric have their own water pipe.
The field is sloping but the pitches along the centre of the site are quite flat. No washer / drier or shop on site, but there are plenty of facilities close by. Shower block / toilets were basic but spotlessly clean. The showers were free with an abundance of hot water day or night.
An ideal location for touring this area of Wales - too many places and activities to mention, and there are plenty of farm shops in the area with good local produce. A great site which we will definitely be visiting again.

This was our second visit to this site, we chose it initially for the close proximity to Tenby (20 mins down but a bit longer coming back as it is uphill) it has many other qualities however: most pitches have water, waste and electric hook up and fine views to the sea and Caldey Island. The owners are friendly and helpful.
The shower block is still very dated and small although it was freshly painted and very clean and the showers were hot and free. The owners are very keen to maintain peace and quiet on this site, ball games of any sort are not permitted and pitches are well spaced. Most of the clients seemed to be middle aged couples.
We would recommend the New Hedges tavern for a meal, it’s about a ten minute walk from the campsite, they have a good selection of meals, we found the prices reasonable and the service is very good.

Spent our first ever camping trip here last week. The views are amazing and the site clean and well maintained.Showers warm and toilet blocks spotlessly clean. Owners friendly and welcoming and location of site is superb, very close to Tenby and local attractions. This is a brilliant site to go to for a back to basics, get away from it all break. Would definitely return!

This was a lovely quiet site with very good views.
The toilet blocks were dated but very clean and the showers were free.
The owners were very friendly and helpful, we stayed for 5 nights over bank holiday weekend and the campsite did not get too busy. You were encouraged by the owners not to pitch to close which was very nice.
The walk to Tenby from the campsite took about 20 mins downhill, however coming from Tenby can only be advised for the young or fit as it is very steep. It costs between £4 and £8 for a taxi back to the campsite (Tenby taxi firm could not decide on a price and changed every time we used it).
We would definitely use this campsite again!

Only stayed for a few days at the start of August (because of the poor weather!)
We phoned ahead and were told a pitch would be no problem, and it was quiet when we got there.
I can't fault the sites location, easy to find, short walk to Tenby, great views.
We didn't think the walk back up slippery back was as bad as some of the other reviews, but there again if you are used to the flat, a hill or 2 can be a shock!
Helpful owners, clean facilities, plenty of open space for kids to play.
If it was busier, I'm not sure how the 1 shower per gender would stand up!

Found this site to be perfect for us as were 2 mature(ish) adults.
Toilet block was dated and only had 2 showers but were clean
This is fairly level campsite with sea views.
We were able to walk into Tenby but the walk back would have been all up hill.
Campsite owners were helpful.
Over all, quite basic site but the weather was the best we had all year.

We wanted to stay on a site that was close to Tenby which allowed us to wander in during the evenings for a bite to eat and a few glasses of wine, Windmills was brilliant for this as it's so close. There is a fairly steep hill to walk up on your way back though, be warned. The campsite is lovely with gorgeous views, however there is one improvement needed that would make a huge difference.the toilet and shower block are in desperate need of a revamp! There is one shower in the ladies which is not enough and the whole block needs a rebuild. Those afraid of spiders be warned! The block is very old and has lots of spiders living in it! All in all the location was excellent, there was a small village near by which offered a shop and a pub and Saundersfoot and Tenby are very close. The pitches are generous with electric hook ups and water points very close. Plus there is a children's playground on site.
