This was our first camping trip in a tent. We were 7 families and our gazebo which we named hq! the owners joy and mike were fab. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The weather was showery with a bit of sun. We were in the tent field next to the dog exercise area. The ground was good as they have excellent drainage there. Showers were hot and I must say were the cleanest ive seen. Will put some hotels to shame! children's play park was very very good. Didn't make use of the clubhouse as there were too many of us and we had our own fun! played a cracking game of rounders in the dog field!
We were so impressed that we actually went back there last weekend as well. Weather was really bad and the field got a bit muddy but dried out really quickly. Would recommend anyone to try this site. Superb 5*

Pantglas Farm as a whole is a nice site conveniently situated for touring around all that there is to see in Pembrokeshire.
Mike and Joy work really hard to make your stay a good one.
The facilities on site site are good and kept very clean and the bar is a nice place to have a pint or two on an evening without having to drive anywhere.
Being a tent we were placed in the bottom tent field which has a serious lack of drainage. The two weeks we were there it rained almost every day and the field was waterlogged and difficult to navigate in car or by foot. The toilet block is also a fair distance from the tent field and poorly lit (if at all) on a night although I gather mike has tried to obtain permission for a new block nearer but is struggling with the council for permissions.
I know the weather is beyond anyone's control but I feel if the drainage problem is sorted it may be more bearable.
The majority of the site is caravans and most are permanently sited.
The children's play area is a very good one but again a very long distance from the tent field.Mike and joy have spent a lot of money on the facilities but older kids constantly messing on the rides especially the trampoline spoil it for the younger ones and will end in the items being broken but again this isn't a fault of mike or joys but that of the parents of those responsible.
They were very helpful with problems and also provided a free ice pack freezing service as none of the sites are served by electricity.
They are also very knowledgeable about local attractions from other peoples comments over the few years that they have owned Pantglas.
The only major gripe after the distance to get to the toilet blocks is the 20p meter system for hot water - it seriously needs updating as the mens side 20p hardly gives you time for a full shower and often needed a second 20p whereas the lady's side was often stuck meaning 3 or 4 people could have a shower one after the other for only 20p
I totally disagree with having to pay 20p to wash your pots when its free inside to have a wash and many people often washed up inside the toilet block instead - its the only place ive stayed where you have to pay to wash up as a camper
That said its a delightful area and peaceful most of the time except the faint noise of the quarry down the road.
Folly farm is by far the best place for small kids - we went twice in the 2 weeks courtesy of Tesco clubcard deals, a little further afield was the national showcaves (also tesco) anothe rgood day out with its dinosaur collection.
The worst value for money and time was the chocolate farm - don't bother - £5 each for about 20 minutes tour of a purposely set up tourist attraction (doubtfull if its origional)
Nearby Tenby, saundersfoot and Freshwater west provide beaches to die for - what a beautiful place and a trip over to caldey island to see the monks and their monestery is well worth the money.
Narberth is the nearest small town with many local shops providing fresh produce and the angel inn with nice meals too.
Supermarkets are a rarety in wales - if you need a big tesco or asda etc then you do need to travel to carmarthen, pembroke dock or haverford west (or an expensive small sainbury's in tenby)
There is a superb co-op nearby and many small londis's etc.
We have seen and done lots in south west wales and won't be returning for a while but when we do it would be interesting to see any improvements made to pantglas farm.
All in all a nice holiday was had by all.

During our week long stay at Pantglas the weather was atrocious.
We had over 7 inches of rain which took the shine off what really should of been a great holiday,in beautiful Pembrokeshire.
Pantglas is set in a deeply rural part of Pembrokeshire, approx 6 miles from the coast at Saundersfoot.
It consists of 70% plus caravan pitches, the vast majority of which are sited permanently.
It is a family site , not suited for lively groups of teenagers.
Lets get the bad news out of the way first -
Parts of this site get extremely waterlogged during extended periods of rain. This is no way a criticism of the owners but simply a fact.
The bottom tent field was so bad that the owners had to ask people not to take their cars onto it and to park them outside and walk to their tents.
Then there is the 'smelly' drainage problem -
Firstly the chemical toilet disposal point next to the childrens playground smells absolutely disgusting and there is clearly a serious problem with it.
Secondly the bottom tent field ,next to the dog walking field, smelled really bad after the floods-not sure what caused it or whether it was man made or natural?? BUT it was not very nice.
The kids playground was part closed due to the bad weather-a drainage problem apparantly-but drainage problems can be solved if the will to solve them really exists!
Thats the bad news out of the way!
Now for the good news- toilets/showers-fine and cleaned regularly,
Bar -opens 5 nights a week during August and is great(does not serve food though) ,
Owners Mike and Joy are very friendly and helpful and deserve to suceed,
Kids playground (if fully open) is fantastic and a real asset to this site,
Prices are realistic and reflect the facilities.
We visited Oakwood theme park which was fantastic(minimal queues even during August) , a local chocolate farm/factory which was average and the beach at Saundersfoot(coppet hall beach) which was outstanding on the only dry day all week.
The nearest shops are 4 miles away in the town of Whitland and there is a pub within walking distance.
The owners Mike and Joy are fab and with a little extra investment this site has the potential to be in the top 10% .
Pembrokeshire is a fantastic location and the weather is no ones fault, but it does have higher than average rainfall for the UK.
It will be interesting to return to Pantglas in a few years time to see if drainage issues have been dealt with!

Spent a week here in July site is very clean and well kept, good play area for children if you want to overlook the park to keep an eye on the children ask to be pitched on pitches 1-6. There is a small bar which opens at 8pm but is closed on Mondays and Thursdays even in high season.
Pitches are hard standing and well spaced out.
Showers were ok and clean but could do with a refurb.
Laundry room was quite small with only 1 washing machine and tumble dryer £3.50 for a wash!
A bit out of the way not within walking distance to any town or beach.
Folly Farm is about 5 miles a good day out for the kids.
Oakwood Park is about 7 miles away.
All in a good site and would return.

Excellent site
Owners very helpful and welcoming
We have a twin axle and pitching was very easy on large gravel pitches, access to all pitches very good.
Kids play area really good, Kids playroom for the older kids very good, football area. Nice bar and lounge, only open weekends out of peak times.
Toilets and showers among the best I have used. We have 2 dogs and were sited next to the dog field which was ideal.
Only downside was no onsite shop, nearest shop for groceries was about 4 miles.
Will certainly revisit this site!

Nice site, with a distant sea view.
Owners are friendly and the site is well kept and maintained. Great play area for the children and a small club house. Pitches are well spaced, toilets and showers are nice and clean. Quieter pitches were in the lower two fields. Storage facility for caravans also available.
We stayed over the cold Easter break and they were fully booked so it's a popular site.
The only disappointment was there is no longer a shop on site.

A well managed site with good facilities, it was extemely wet when we were here but we had no trouble with water as the site is well drained. Good clean toilet block with good showers and pot washing room. The site has a bar. Close to Narbarth for shopping.

This was are second visit to this site, our first visit was for 1 week last August we were new to caravaning and had a few problems. The owners were very helpful and made are stay very pleasant. Excellent facilities for primary aged children, good playground and loads of space for them to run about and enjoy themselves. Since our visit last year the showers now have a price option depending on how long you want to shower for, still reasonably priced. Credit/debit cards now can be used when paying. Overall an excellent site, which is the cleanest I have seen. Also very good if you have a dog.
Would recommend a visit to anyone!

Me and my family visited this site in august this year and we thought it was lovely. The site consisted of a great little pub which sold everything you could think off including sweets for the kids. The shower block was immaculate the showers costs 20p for about 10 minutes which isnt very long when trying to shower yourself and a toddler but for 20p they could have their own shower. The toilets were always clean and well kept. There was a nice park for the toddlers and a big football field with nets for the footballers of all ages. The staff and owners were very pleasant and helpful giving ideas of places to visit. There were laundry facilities available for a small charge. On the whole the site was a+ and certainley worth another visit. All the amenities were in easy reach the beach etc were about 4 mile away and the beach was lovely with a seperate dog section. The nearest pub was only a 5 minute walk away and the nearest shop was 2 mile away which was open until 10pm most nights and there was also a chip shop there to. All in all a very beautiful place to visit and a lovely site

August 2005 Very well kept, landscaped, clean, quiet, family site. Childrens playground excellent and will keep those of Primary school years occupied for hours. Very spacious with many season long caravanners. We didn't use the pub as such but it looked adequate and they were very busy and organised something most evenings. Only downsides are no shop (the ability to get the basics would have been better for us extremely lazy campers!) and it is just that little bit far from the beaches etc. These are only very minor niggles and it is very difficult to find fault with this site. If you want peace and quiet, with excellent facilities and wonderful surroundings Pantglas is the place for you. We would return with no hesitation but probably won't only because we would like to have been a bit closer to the beaches, particularly Saundersfoot as that suits our watersports orientated holidays better.
