We stopped here inbetween Christmas and New Year. It was great to find somewhere open over this period and I was relieved to find the site tidy and well located (a short drive from the motorway so in bad weather no problem getting there and very close to Cheshire Oaks which is great for food, shopping, Blue Planet Aquarium). Normally we stay at the Wirral Country Park Caravan Club site but it is closed during the winter.
I have to say hand on heart that we will probably return in the winter because of the location (my parents live close). But. I reitterate other posts, the electricity meters are a bit of a pain. We ended up paying £20/night which is similar to other sites (the meters are totted up at the end on to your bill). However, we lost electricity supply on more than one occaision and the meter had to be topped up regularly (being the winter, our heating was on all night). I like to know what the cost will be at the start and not be suprised at the end.
IF the owner reads the reviews on this site, please consider ditching the meters and you will get some people stopping.
The entrance could do with a bigger sign, not just for people who stay at the site but for the queue of traffic behind wondering where you are turning into.
Good site though and would recommend for location, price and facilities. Cheap in the summer as no heating required.

We stopped here in August we were on the hard standing as there had been previous heavy rain. I personally would have liked to be on the field were the pond is, a little cramped no room for awning on the hard standing. Leci meter was a little greedy, but owner was not 100% sure if it was running correctly but did move us over to a different one the day after. The owners were very helpful even ran us into Chester one day as there were no buses. Thank you very much for that. Even free morning paper the first morning really good attention that really works. Road a little busy at night. Pub we found to be reasonably good specially if you have good appetite for breakfast. Blue planet just down rd made for a good day out. Will definitely visit again when out this way. Toilet n shower clean n tidy maybe expansion there would be a plus for your more busy times. Cheers very welcome stay. Jan n alan

We stayed here in July for the British golf open at Hoylake, we stayed for 2 nights on a hard standing area with EHU, we had the choice of the grass field also. People who run this site are very friendly & can't do enough to help. One toilet is immaculate & one shower that's always clean & needs £1 coin to shower, coin box is a bit dated but plenty of hot water for your £1. Site had a disposal point for toilet waste. But no washing point to clean dishes. No noisy goose as in other comments but had a few chickens running around which was good to see. There was a big pond on the grass field also.
There was a pub about 400yds down from the site which done a carvery which was reasonable. Entrance to site from road was a bit tight with our twin axle caravan & can imagine you would be sat a while waiting to get out onto the busy main road, we left at 6am so no traffic.
All in all we totally enjoyed our short stay here & would definitely return here.

Lovely little site just outside Chester. We do a lot of walking public footpaths and found it to be a perfect base for exploring further into the wirral and surrounding area.
Facilities are spotless and shower was plenty long enough for a £1. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Level pitches for camping.
Nearby cheap n cheerful carvery and a nicer pub in Saughall. Nice footpath from the site to the village. We've been twice with our tent. Will definitely be back soon!

First time used this site. You have to be careful looking for it, not a lot of signage outside. Found it very peaceful (George went to new home when we were there). Toilets and showers kept very clean. Owners really friendly and helpful. Electric on card payment not too bad a cost for usage. Pub down the road, meal average but o/k for cost, getting ready for revamp. Easy bus service to use for Chester where there is lots to do. Good dog walks. Will be back later in the year

Just returned from 3 nights stay, on hard standing pitch with ehu. Well where to start, first of all bring some earplugs with you as George the goose tends to make a noise all through the night and in the day he will chase you if you get to close but he is easily shooed away, and there is a lot of road noise. The site itself is quite good with one toilet and one shower both very clean and basic. At the back of hardstanding is the camping field with duckpond and hook ups. Owners very friendly and helpful. Only down side I found is if you come in winter you will eat up the electric cards through having heating through the night, so bring plenty of gas with you. The entrance is not too bad at all, I have 24ft van so I swung out on to other side of road to turn in. Regarding the pub down the road, don't go there the carvery was appalling, go to the greyhound in the opposite direction. Good base for chester as it is only 3 miles down the road. Would I go there again, yes I think I would, (if George was not staying with us)

Lovely site, great for visiting Chester. All hard standing but will get water logged when heavy rain has fallen. The site has one toilet, and one shower which is a£1. Electric is on buy as you use meters £1-£5 cards from the owners, any unused electric will be bought back.
There are lots of animals buttons the daughters new horse or should I say pony is lovely. The two cats and all the chickens and the 3-6 cocks are a laugh. The only down side is George the Goose is as noisy as Can be Starts at 5. 30 am till when ever. He also attacks, so be on your guard. I spoke to the owner and her daughter and they say he will not be around next year after Christmas hhhmmmm.
The Carvery down the road is a normal Wheatsheaf but the food we had was not good we won't be going back but that was just the Carvery. The park and ride 10 min away its great £1.70 each. The surroundings are nice you can hear the traffic, but its not that bad the goose is the most noise on the site. We will definitely return.

Great site for a base for the Chester races, excellent price £15pn with ehu. Nice owners with some lovely animals, great guard duck. Basic but all there. Hidden rope swing for the kids. Some road noise, but who doesn't live near a road! This is a working small holding and does have tractors, mowers, diggers on show. Nice little pond, ducks, chickens, sheep, rabbit, horse, dog and cats all roaming free, but all very friendly. Nice single shower, one toilet, drinking water taps and toilet disposal point.
We will definitely return, it was a great weekend.

Stayed for 4 nights with a Campervan (£14 pn) and a tent (£10pn). Electric is by card in the slot(£1) which lasted for 3 nights which I thought was very reasonable. We had to site the campervan on the paking area as the ground was very soft.
Good big shower, (£1 a shower). Only 1 toilet with a small wash bowl but no hot water. No dish washing sink.
Good pub/carvery 200 yards away and the bus for Chester passes the gate.
No shops nearby but Morrisons supermarket is about 3 miles away and Chester is 4 miles.
Overall a basic, reasonably priced site.

Stayed here for 5 days and checked reviews before hand, after looking at reviews due to the access to the site I was little unsure. However on arrival I thought the entrance to the site was more than enough space to move into and out of the site.
Only 4 miles from Chester city centre which was handy especially with the buses pulling just offsite.
Also would mention nice pub 2 minute walk with a lovely carvery.
Well maintained site and very well priced. Overall enjoyed my stay and will be returning next spring.
