This is a large site but we were in the top field away from the play area are didn't feel at all crowded.
Friendly welcome and cheerful staff - it makes a difference. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
Fabulous ice cream to be bought in the shop!
Good showers and toilets, nice and clean.
There's a bus stop (a field gateway to be precise) at the end of the track (about 10-15 minutes walk) where you can catch a bus to Ilfracombe, Barnstaple and Lynton. Good bus service.
The weather was grotty while we were there but we enjoyed fabulous views from the top field and it was very quiet and peaceful.

We enjoyed a fantastic week at this well run Camping and Caravanning Club Site. We were welcomed when we arrived and helped to identify a suitable pitch for our Yukon 6 unit with extension. We had an electric hook up. Everything worked fine and we had no problems.
The site is in a great location for walks. There is a children's play area (we didn't need that) and generally people were friendly on site.
The toilet block and washing facilities are older than some sites but they are immaculate. Clean facilities are vital and we couldn't fault the site at all - always spotless toilets, showers and washing up area - even in quite a bit of rain with the potential for muddy footprints.
We will be visiting this site again. A great week.

We like to park our motorhome and walk so we thoroughly enjoyed this site
The wardens sell an excellent walking map and we made good use of it.
The first time we went to Lynton we went straight along the lane, turned off to the Valley of the Rocks and then back along the coast path to Lynton. Downside was the steepness of the lane coming back!
Second day we used the bridleway at the side of the site to reach Lee Abbey and then walked back towards Lynmouth. Saw large herd of wild goats and Exmoor ponies. Decided to come back along Southcombe and use the bridleway to return to the site. The bridleway was longer but much easier than using the lane
We qualified for age concessions so thought the site was great value for money. The wardens were very pleasant and even offered to help us to pitch
Facilities were OK although getting ready for upgrading. Great views if you went through to the field next to the toilet block
We loved this area and will return

This was our first time on a camping and caravan club site and we were very disappointed. We were met by a very unfriendly member of staff who complained our hook up cable was too short, showed us where to pitch our tent and then returned approx 30 minutes later and asked us to move it!
The wi-fi is non existent, there is a smell of sewage near the children's playing field, the 2nd field has no lighting at night and the site is on a hill.
There were broken locks in the showers. We left early as we were so disappointed with this site and definitely would not recommend it.

We only used this site for 2 nights, to try out our new tent, was only a few miles from home so we knew about distances to local shops etc.
Site warden was really friendly. The toilet/shower block was fine and the play area seemed popular with the children.
The views from the 'top field' were wonderful-and best sunsets from there for taking photos.

Small site set over two fields. One with hard standings and the other sloping with all grass. Electric hook up and WIFI available. We never had to queue for toilets or showers. There are two blocks so one can be closed for cleaning. No extra charge for showers. They were basic, clean and functional with coin hairdryers. Really, I would hope they would be thinking of upgrading in the near future. The shower cubicles being a bit snug with very little scope for hanging clothes and towels. More hooks please! No family facility. And it would be nice to have a radio on or something, if you are a bit toilet shy it does break the silence. We didn't use the laundry or washing up facility so can't comment.
I know milk was available at the site office but not sure what else. The staff were very friendly and there's lots of them.
There is nothing in a reasonable walking distance. The nearest shops are in Lynton which is a good walk away. We always drove. The nearest big supermarkets are in Barnstaple or Ilfracombe. However there are plenty of cafes pubs and restaurants in Lynton and Lynmouth. We found that many were providing fresh home cooked food which was nice.
The kids play area consisted of two swings and a climbing frame with slide on a barked area. There is a large field set aside for them as well. It felt very safe and we were happy for our 7 and 3 year olds to play out of our sight and they enjoyed the freedom.
The site is on a hillside and was very windy at times. There are views to the sea from the play field but obscured a bit by hedges around the rest of the site. We loved North Devon and enjoyed our two week stay but probably would not return to Lynton or this site. Lynton and Lynmouth are beautiful but perhaps best for a long weekend not a long stay. There are no sandy beaches nearby. We did find that we were driving a lot. Its VERY HILLY too

As this was a Caravan and Camping Club site we thought it would be a more than average campsite, but we were wrong!
Firstly I thought the campsite was near the beach, as it said in the brochure that you could walk from the campsite to the bay. When I asked at reception the lady said it was a 40 minute 'steep walk'(and that was just one way), so not great for a family with a two small children and a buggy.
We were pitched on the top field on a slope and had to weave our electric cable under someone else's caravan - so not a great start. It was very windy one night and it ripped some of the poles out of our awning. So tents beware - this is a very open aspect site.
The children's playground is adequate, but only has a couple of swings and one slide. The facilities were not great at all. The toilets and shower blocks were very dated and in desperate need of modernising and considering the size of the campsite there were not many showers - especially in peak season.
The position of the campsite is very off the beaten track, a drive (or 40 minute walk!) to Lynton. Not what we were hoping for at all, so if you have children you will need to get in the car to go to the beach. We also didn't find much of a beach when we got to Lynton/Lynmouth, so we had to travel to either Combe Martin or Ilfracombe.
As the weather was bad, we took our children to the wildlife and dinosaur park outside Combe Martin which is worth a visit - but expensive, and Ilfracombe is a nice seaside resort for families.

Lovely site, very peaceful and with some great views. Ample toilets/showers etc, clean although a little dated.
Friendly warden booked us in and showed us to a pitch. Quite a slope on many by the looks of it.
Beautiful walk into Lynton, about 40 minutes along a very narrow road (unsuitable for vehicles) and very steep in parts. Worst coming back!
Would recommend and return if we were back in the area.

Nice site, nice helpful wardens. Steep walk down lane to lynton and would avoid same route on return alternative back by coastal path or longer road route. Facilities clean, showers bit on snug side. Some pitches slight slopes so wedges needed. No local shops or pubs within easy walking distance so stock up en route small supply at site reception. Would use again .

April great time to use this site as we were only tent in lovely sheltered tent field and no queues to use showers, toilets etc. Would agree with other reviews that this not a good place to go when busy as there is no way the three showers and washing up facilities (just three in tight space)can cater for 150 pitches.
Place is absolutely fantastic for walking. Only a mile (steep walk to Lynton) or 2 miles more gentle slope along road and river walk. Or longer cliff face route if you've got time on your hands. For £2 site sells fantastic local walking map.
Lynton/Lynmouth nice and quiet in April, but can imagine a bit chaotic in summer to access eateries and two small supermarkets.
Site managers were also very nice and helpful. Site also benefits from additional field for ball games, but kite flying prohibited due to power lines.
