We have just spent a lovely weekend at the Bat and Ball pub/campsite, The owners made us feel very welcome and couldn't have done anything more to make our stay better.
They have been at the pub since it reopened last August 2013, the facilities have been improved massively, with new toilet and shower facilities. A few more hook up pitches have been added as well.
There's the added bonus of the owner's on site farm shop which is open from 10-2 and 4-6, wood is available upon request at £5 per bag. We had a lovely dinner on Saturday night in the pub, a lovely range of pizzas and pub classics.
There is Fisher Farm park a short 5 minute walk down the lane, which was a great day for the family. We will definitely be coming back to the Bat and Ball.

We visited this site at the end of may, loved the level field, pub great, area very nice,
But the facilities are the worst I have seen for a long time, there were just 2 loos & 1 shower, when we arrived they were not even clean, the shower door was broken in 2,
The washing up area had no hot water & the drain was overflowing, we paid £15 per night for this!
When the site filled up it was apparent that there were not enough facilities for the amount of people there!
A great shame as could have been so nice, we were with 3 other family's & 2 groups nearly went home early as they were in tents so needed the facilities

We stayed just the one night, would have stayed longer if not for work the following day. Loved the campsite and the surrounding area. The pub is very traditional the food well cooked and reasonably priced. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the local area.
Lovely, quiet site, that is situated fairly close to the coast and the South Downs.
Only one downside, the toilet/shower facilities left a lot to be desired, in the ladies the hot water heater didn't supply water immediately, the front covering of the sinks was peeling away, a radiator had been pulled from the wall and a message reading not to flush the toilet if someone was taken a shower.
The cleanliness of both ladies and gents was not good.

This is a great getaway site and situated next to Fishers Farm Park which is really handy for entertaining the kids,it is a popular site for families and is very child friendly. The facilities are pretty dated but after talking to the Landlord, these facilities are due to be updated by the Brewery by next season.
They had a Medieval Jousting Tournament on our visit and it was superb. The Pub food was great along with the Ales and the staff are all friendly and ready to assist. The Pub itself has a history dating back to the 15 century and the Landlord always has the time to talk about its past.
The only downside are the facilities, not enough, but after our last visit last season the shower block has been completely re-decorated, with new paths laid, just mud and grass last year, and new showers installed, so plenty of hot water and they have now built in a crock wash that was badly needed.
The new owners are looking at creating more for the kids to do and more entertainment for the evenings, all power to his elbow as we will definitely be going back.

My husband and I stayed at this site for one night with friends & two children. The positives of the site is that the pitches are level, there are nice places to walk from the site and there is a farm that would be a good day out for the family just down the road. The pub on site was also pretty good, we had a nice lunch there and the staff were friendly.
Unfortunately the negatives outweighed the positives for us. We were pitched right next to a very busy road. There were two very large groups staying and they made a lot of noise until the early hours of the morning and were then up and very awake at 6am the next day. Needless to say it was difficult to get much sleep.
There are only 2 toilets and 1 shower for females and I think the same for the men. The quality of the facilities are pretty poor, they're old and tired. None of our party were willing to use the shower for fear of someone walking in as there's no door to close - there's just a basic shower curtain that is very visible from the road outside if the door to the cabin is left open (which it usually was).

Stayed 4 nights for a wedding in nearby village. Quiet site (worth avoiding the road; it is surprisingly busy) until everyone turned up for the Bank Holiday. It then became busy but everyone was friendly and landlord/ warden cleaned the toilets which are woefully inadequate for number on site! At least the Warden warned us it would be manic with a 40th birthday party in the marquee on the Saturday. By 11. 30 it was quiet! No EHU. Lovely area with lots to do; walk the Wey walk/ Arun canal.

A party of 3 vans with six adults and two quiet-ish children visited over bank holiday and were put in the small back field with loads of tents (pitched too close re fire regulations) and hundreds of kids. One group constantly (for two days) threw a ball for their spaniel dog up and down the field, which drove our tied-up dog - and consequently us - bats! So much for a relaxing time! Everyone know dogs should be on a lead on a site, for goodness sake. No-one from the pub checked, and there were another couple of dogs roaming round.
Good things: Good pub/food/real ale/setting/location.
Bad things: Only 2 toilets and 1 washbasin in gents and ladies loos for 3 fields of campers, toilets/basins were not cleaned once in our 3 day stay, toilet roll/hand soap ran out on first night and not replaced until 3rd day. Shower (with only curtain) not used.
Expensive at £15 a night for a 2-berth van with no EHU and poor facilities. Think it's gone up £3 or £5 since last year. We have stayed at better sites for less money.
We've been here before and like rough and ready sites, but this site needs investment and attention to detail from the owners.

Friendly site with a great welcome, great character pub with great food and excellent beer. Well situated for local attractions and places to visit.
Campsite is cool, facilities are basic but clean (don't forget the loo roll) and exactly what we required. We will be back :)

The good things first - nice location for touring and pub with real ale on site.
The bad bits? Only 2 toilets and 1 washbasin in mens loos for 3 fields of campers, toilets/ and especially basin dirty and not cleaned once in our 3 day stay, toilet roll ran out on first night and not replaced by 3rd day, shower only went to luke warm so didn't use, light out in one toilet cubical (no window) and not replaced, shaver point not working properly. Also it was £15 a night for a small campervan with no EHU and poor facilities which is bit steep and the rear field was so marshy we, and others, needed to be towed out!
We actually like rough and ready sites and with a little investment and attention from the owners this could be a superb site particularly so close to a good pub.

This is a small, basic site situated in the grounds of a very nice pub, which is always a distinct advantage! The site has 3 fields, one of these being next to a fairly busy road so probably worth avoiding. We camped on the back field which was well sheltered by high hedges and much quieter. The site is very flat and appears to be well drained.
The only real negative would have to be the toilet and shower facilities which, while clean and adequate, are poorly situated, being in the pub car park. This makes having a shower during opening hours rather off-putting, especially as the shower cubicles are only set apart by a curtain.
