It was our first visit to this site and we were made extremely welcome by Keith the site owner.
The shower block was kept very clean and tidy at all times.I think there is a shop on site but due to circumstances it was not open when we visited,we only wanted milk for tea & coffee, Keith solved the problem by giving us some dry milk from the hot drinks machine in reception,to see us over.
Although the site is close to the railway line, we found the train noise unobtrusive and it certainly didn't spoil our sleep.
Northallerton's about 10 mins drive away and has all the shops, supermarkets, take aways & pubs etc you need.
We had a good day at Lightwater Valley Theme Park, the kids thought it fantastic.
Camping pods are quite good fun and certainly cut out the hassle of putting up a big family tent (Hartford XL) but I think it would be a struggle cooking in rain and wind.
I would visit again for cert.

Stayed one night May Bank Holiday which was cold, but not raining. Very busy, but they made a hardstanding available to us. Site very clean, tidy and great for families with kids and dogs. Pub in village (about a mile away)is great.
Only problem we encountered is the hookup electrics keep tripping out - not just our unit, but the whole site each time, and on quite a few occasions (appeared to be around general mealtimes).
Site wardens explained they had just installed a brand new expensive electrical hookup system and are trying to sort this problem out with the manufacturers.
Apart from the tripping this is a highly recommended site to stay at and cost us £20 for 2 adults and child age 11.

Very good site. Showers nice, plenty for kids to entertain themselves. Also mini gym and hot tub nice walks from site.
Pitches very spacious but every caravan and campervan sunk in the pebbles even my car sunk. The weather was great so plots were dry but still sunk. Tractorman was very busy. They have to sort problem out. I would go back if problem is sorted. But overall very good site.

Do not visit this site if you have a motorhome - it's not geared up for it. The hardstandings aren't hard - they are only gravelled and there was no chance of levelling the van up. We saw one motorhome have to be towed off its pitch by a tractor as it had sunk almost up to the axles in gravel - and we were there on a sunny, dry weekend!
Also not mentioned was the proximity of the main East Coast train line - about 400 yards from the site - with trains running every 15 minutes or so day and night.
However, the facilities were good and clean with plentiful hot water and the site itself was very quiet, although it was quite full. They must be doing something right as they have a big seasonal section and there were only a couple of empty spaces on the touring site, but we won't visit again.

A great site, lovely walks on the site, clean and spacious toilet block, well spaced units. Owners are so friendly and helpful, we had trouble with our electrics and Keith (the owner) bent over backwards to sort our problem out, going back again in august.
Would benefit from an on-site shop. Fishing was good, only snag was not been able to take the dog near the fishing lake (due to birds nesting), hubby caught plenty of fish they where a little bit on the small side (he will have to try harder next time).

Just returned from a 3 night stay over the bank holiday, owners were very welcoming and friendly. Toilet blocks were clean and new looking, Showers were individual rooms with either a toilet and sink or just a sink and shower. There is also a separate bathroom which would be bliss for people with small children.
Papers can be ordered from the reception the previous day. There seemed to be quite a lot of sited tourers but they seemed very friendly and not too territorial as can sometimes happen on small sites. The pitches themselves, in my opinion were slightly too close and you did feel like you were packed in slightly, electric hook up was quite far away, but we just managed to reach.
There is a fishing lake which my husband and son used 2 of our 3 day stay. Possibly not for the expert fisherman yet, as fish were not really that big, largest one caught was about 1lb but with a couple for years growth, it will be much improved. All in all a good weekend.

A nice site, shame about the weather. The toilets and showers were nice and clean even with the weather. We didn't use the laundry facilities so can not comment. There was a lovely play park for the children and facilities for fishing.
South Otterington has a nice village pub and just five minutes up the road (so to speak) was Northallerton with all the amenities needed and plenty of places of interest.
The only things on the negative was that the ground didn't drain very well so it was very wet under foot. Quite a few cars had trouble moving their caravans off their pitches but the staff were really quick to help.
I would say 4x4 cars a plus especially if they predict wet weather and good wellies. Other than that, a really good and friendly site. Would go again.

Stayed for 2 nights in august rained all weekend but that was the only thing I can complain about.
Fantastic site, owners cant do enough for you (well could of put the tent up !) large pitch as we had a large 9 man tent also site has a large fenced safe play for the children (aged 11 and 7) to play in.
Toilets and showers were the best we've stayed in as had individual showers with a toilet and basin also 1 BATHROOM witch was ideal for little ones.
Would definitely be returning soon

Stayed at this campsite for a long weekend in october. I really enjoyed this campsite the shower block was nice with indivial rooms which had a toilet, wash basin and shower in. The play area was large and fenced off. There was a water tap right near our caravan which was good. Ths owners were nice to. Hope to return again next year

Lovely site to stay on.
Toilet facilities the best I have seen yet, Free showers and lots of hot water, Very clean.
Owners very helpful and always checking that things running ok.
Could do with something for the older children, not all are interested in fishing and the play area is more for the younger ones, but this is all that I can find wrong with the site.
Would love to get a seasonal pich here
