I visited this site with my three year old son in August 2011. As we don't have a car we found it very useful having the bus stop right outside the campsite. We arrived quite late to find a welcome pack waiting in reception for us with local information and a bus timetable which was very helpful. The toilets and showers were always very clean and the site was well maintained. The owners of the site really went above and beyond, lending us spare sleeping bags and airbeds to keep warm and comfortable and when the weather was really bad they even left us a note by the tent telling us one of their 'pod huts' was free that night and to ring if we needed it, we did and had a fantastic and exciting night in there. I would definitely recommend this site to anyone, we are intending to return and can't wait!

What a great place to camp for the TT. I travelled in from Colorado in the US, and was treated wonderfully from the moment I arrived.
Everyone was very friendly, and a lively atmosphere prevailed. For the race fortnight, they provided live music every night, and food and drink available throughout the day.
The showers and toilets were kept cleaan, and there was always someone at the office to help out with whatever you might need.
They even provided outlets at the office to re-charge your electric gear.

Arrived very late on the ferry from Liverpool, and received excellent and easy to follow directions from the owner by phone. We met the following morning and arranged a 3 night stay.
Excellent value for money, beautiful rural setting. Clean shower block, ample hot water and well lit at night. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners - and on the 4th day we added another night with no problems.
Close to Douglas, public transport right outside. Hard pitches good for vans and plenty of field spaces for tents.
It was quiet when we there with room to spread out. Definitely recommend.

We stayed for four nights in the big field - for those of you staying here for the TT - we had the big field to ourselves!
Great site - facilities basic but always very clean, good hot showers.
If you get the chance to meet Peter, you are in for a treat!
Good position, close to Douglas but definitely 'in the country' - Spar shop just down the road in Union Mills - we will stay there again on our next visit. Looked at some of the other sites on the island but this seemed to be n the best position - we visited the north and south tips of the Island, climbed Snaefell and had a great stay.

We found Glenlough through this website's wonderful search facility, booked immediately and stayed at Glenlough for TT fortnight.
The site is right on the TT course, the bus stop is at the site entrance and the pub's a gentle saunter down the hill. There are four camping areas - the big field where you pitch wherever you want, the quieter field and the family field and an area in front of the office.
We didn't get to meet the owner until the day before we were due to leave but there always seemed to be someone in the office if you needed to ask for anything. Everyone was very friendly and laid back. There was a takeaway on site and the food smelt lovely - but by the time we got back most nights they were closed. They had entertainment on race week in the big tent in the big field which was great but as we were marshalling early in the mornings it made getting to sleep a little difficult.
The site is pretty level apart from the field at the other side which slopes downhill. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the toilets and showers looked brand new and were always clean and the water was always hot which was amazing considering how many people were on site. There were no special facilities for children but it was TT fortnight, the few children on site seemed to enjoy running around and riding on their pushbikes. The walk from the bottom of the site is lovely on a sunny day.
I'd recommend this site to anyone visiting the island, it was excellent in every aspect. We've already booked for 2011 :D

This site just keeps getting better and better!
Stayed for TT2010, again for TT2011, booked for the Manx 2011 and will be going back for TT2012.
Each time we go back there is something new or improved. This year they had a cafe and a takeaway van on site which gave me a break from cooking. Prices were extremely reasonable and the bacon butties were to die for!
The site was very busy but there was always plenty of hot water in the showers no matter what hour of day you went in and the facilities are kept clean and tidy, the bins are emptied several times a day and toilet rolls refilled as needed. There are plenty of large commercial bins dotted around the site so that disposing of waste isn't a trek.
The only downside was, this year we stayed on the sloping field and it was a long way to the toilet/shower blocks in the middle of the night. I saw lots of males relieving themselves in the hedge rather than walking to the toilet. May I suggest a few portaloos at TT time?
We did have a problem with a noisy group of foreign campers but a quick word with the night security soon had them sorted out. The guy next to us had his young grandson with him and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay.
This is the best campsite we have used on the island and it is extremely convenient for where we need to be. The bus stop is at the camp gate, there is a pub and a shop a short walk away and it's close to all the amenities and nightlife in Douglas

Bob on site, we stayed in April this year on a visit to a friend wedding on the island. Its a basic site, but the toilets where clean and tidy plenty of area to camp, our pitch was close to the main road but this proved very quite, execpt with some early bikers putting a lap in.
Easy access of the back of the site to the douglas to peel railway line, which gives you a clean run either on foot or bike.
We visited the laxey wheel and did some walking out on the west coast near peel, and as always enjoyed a davidsons ice cream on the beach in peel.
Great basic site and a great island

The location pin on the map is not correct - the site is on the A1 near Union Mills. There is a bus stop right outside the entrance (No. 5/6) and it takes about 15 mins to get into Douglas.
We arrived late off the ferry and the owners had left an welcome / info pack for us in the hut. The site is quite big and well looked after. The toilets / showers were excellent and very clean. Would certainly go back again.

First of all, if you turn up outside the hours of 9am and 10:30am, the chances are there will be no-one around, just choose your spot, pitch or hook up and the guy will be around the following morning to sort things out. Very friendly atmosphere. This site charges £7 per person, £3 per child, regardless of unit used. £3 p/night for electricity hookup, there are points in the office to charge mobiles etc.
Great open field so plenty of room to pitch a tent. Showers are included in the above prices (similar to those found at swimming pools, press button every 20 seconds). The facilities are excellent. I stayed here for just under 3 weeks and was very happy. The gents loos could do with a makeover, but they are well looked after, as are the rest of the facilities by a daily cleaner.
This site is well placed on the road from Douglas to Peel, there are bus stops right outsidee the site so access to the public transport system is perfect. At the bottom of the camping field you step right onto the the heritage railway line (track removed), you can walk to Douglas and Peel along this track without worrying about the traffic.

When we arrived we were impressed to see a very clean and tidy site. One very large camping field which contained several tents, a smaller field containing a few more tents and a couple of large camper vans, and hardstanding where another 5 campers were parked.
The toilets and showers were immaculate - the blocks looked brand new (except the gent loos). Piping hot water - only slight grumble would be the showers are on a 20 second timer - but it doesnt take much to keep pushing the button.
The owners were around from time to time - their farm is 50 yards from the site so they are there - they just don't intrude. However if you need something they are happy to help,
This is a great site - it was the best we saw on the island and would totally recommend it for a visit.
