My friends and I found this camp site on our visit to the island for the centenery of the TT in 2007. We arrived on the island at 9pm at night and had been told the house we were to stay in had been cancelled. Upon finding this camp site we were welcomed and given great help. We found the camp site to be clean and well laid out, the shower blocks were clean and other facilities on site ( washroom, phone, toilets etc ) were always clean. The breakfasts were fantastic and cheap compared with the town centre prices. We enjoyed it so much that we have booked for this years TT ( 2008 ) aswell.

The motorhome parking area did not match safety standards as vans were expected to park between six to eight feet of each other. The cleanliness of the toilets and shower blocks was very poor and we used our own van's facilities. The site is part of a farm and the owners were conspicuous by their absence at times.Campers were left to their own devices when finding a pitch.
The site does certainly not live up to a 3 keys standard and we would have had difficulty giving it a 1 key mark.
On the whole we got the impression that most camp sites on the Isle of Man are mainly aimed at the bikers and there does not appear to be four star sites available. Generally travelling around the island was good although parking could be a bit of a problem in some of the smaller hamlets.

Glenlough farm campsite is situated on the main Douglas to Peel road about a mile outside the village of Union Mills. The public transport access to the site is excellent with the bus stop right at the site entrance. The daunting thing I found was that there was nobody there to meet you, just a sign welcoming you and telling you to pitch your tent and that the warden would be round in the morning to collect payment, thing was it wasn't until 2 day's later the owner came round, but with this relaxed attitude they make you feel welcome. The facilities on the site are basic but are kept clean, although there wasn't many people on the site at the time of my visit. Theirs no shop or burger van on the site except for TT period but theirs a shop in Union Mills about a mile away. The site is fairly flat but the ground can be hard in places but I have no problems with this site at all.
