Excellent break in a lovely part of the country.
Basic site, but with everything you need including great views and able to have a campfire on the night.
Facilities basic but clean, very friendly owner and son. Great value for money.
Had a great couple of days 😀

It was exactly as described. Owner friendly, everything basic but did the job. £10 for 1 adult and 2 kids, bargain.
There were plenty of people there, some with a bit of music but no real noise late on.
We will be back. 10/10.

It was our 8th wedding anniversary and we got married at the Mallyan Spout hotel
2020 is the best time to camp out , all your own things and lots of fresh air and we are so pleased we stayed at Brow house farm
We had a view to die for at the top of the hill
Only 5 mins walk to have our meal at the spout and 30 mins to the waterfall when walking back to the farm the sky was beautiful
The best £20 I've ever spent, Thank you

Site is in a perfect location with beautiful surroundings. Pub just down the road. Very close to mallyan spout and beck hole.
Site itself is very basic, one men's toilet, two ladies (incl. One disabled) and one shower unit. Not very well kept.
Fires are welcome and encouraged, logs are £5.
£5pppn, half price for kids under 12.
Very loud campsite, no noise control, booming music till god knows what hour. Lots of groups of people partying.

Positives - Great location, walking distance to the town and a short drive to Whitby where we had a nice day out. Only £5 per night per person which is a good price and for £5 you can have a good sized bag of logs and kindling for an open fire which not many sites allow.
Owner seemed like a nice cheery guy and on the first night we had a great stay, despite high winds I slept fine. It was nice to see the lambs in the field so close by and we have stunning views of the moors.
Negatives - Facilities are in need of an update and more importantly a good clean. I wouldn't have risked using the shower - teeming with flies and very dirty. Our first night was very windy and there weren't many tents on the field but on the 2nd night lots of groups arrived. I read the reviews thinking it would be more of a relaxed atmosphere without the strict rules around sound but some campers ruined this on the 2nd night playing loud music past 3am with people drunk screaming and arguing. I might have been able to sleep through the music alone but one guy in particular was so loud he infiltrated my dreams waking me several times in the early hours, in the end I gave up until he was done. The next morning I spotted a few nitrous oxide canisters left in the fields by the same lovely group. Perhaps that was an extreme night from a bad lot of campers, but from looking at other reviews I wondered if the site had a reputation as a party site with no rules. It felt like I was at a festival, not the relaxed weekend I was hoping for unfortunately so came home shattered.

Campsite was a field with a pub down the road, decent male talent there, beef and hedgehogs, but you should see it in winter.
Bus into Whitby comes ones every 10 years but is worth it if you catch it to spend the evening in a dark corner of wetherspoons, ideal for stag do’s and birthday party’s.
You can have open fires on campsite, they sell wood for £5 a bag but only able to buy one due to being told not to go back for another, comes with a cracking bag of kindling.
Pitches with en suites all inclusive are available for £5 per night with no lock on the door.

Camping here is certainly an experience, if you are a fan of the TV series Heartbeat then you will recognise the location as Greengrass’s farm, lets just say I think when they filmed they must have tidied the place up considerably! The owner is a friendly guy with quite a resemblance to old Claude himself!
Facilities are certainly very rustic but serviceable for this back to basics sight and if you camp it the top field rather than squeezed in with the caravans below the views are magnificent. It’s also inexpensive (I wouldn’t say good value) for £5 each per night.
Campfires are allowed and logs can be bought from the farmer who comes round in the evening.
This could be a great site especially for exploring the village of Goathland (Aidensfield) as it’s only a 10min walk down but sadly what could be a nice chilled out style camping experience is let down by attracting the kind of low life’s and yobs that just go camping to get drunk and stay up half the night making a noise leaving their litter strewn across the field on their departure.
Would I return? Probably not and certainly not at the weekend!

Absolutely love this place!
I spent a lot of my childhood weekends here, first camping trip when I was 2 weeks old was here and my parents stayed well before I was born! Me and my sister never knew what it was really called as we always called it “greengrasses back garden”
Its not the best for facilities, and very rustic “proper camping” but the views are amazing! So quiet and peaceful. Short walk into Goathland (heartbeat country) with lovely tearooms and pubs for food. The Goathland to grosmont walk is also a favourite, or could even take an old fashioned steam train.
The owner is very friendly and welcoming, and a lovely location for going to other areas in North Yorkshire like Whitby or Scarborough.
Will probably still be camping here when I’m old and bring my own children. Would highly recommend

Beautiful Location, proper camping and at a good price. We will definitely be back. Saw the amazing meteor showers in the beautiful sky here and filled 4 days with fun for our little ones. Recommend the rail trail walk up to grosmont and back via the malyan spout waterfall. A great day out, also did steam train to whitby and back and a walk around the steam track around the moors in general. Brilliant. Delighted to be able to use our firepit for cooking morning and night. Site facilities clean and more than adequate. An accessible freezer would have been useful as although happy to freeze our packs for us we had to leave some on the last day as no one was about at the farmhouse. Also just be wary of the weather as a couple of tents suffered some damage in the bad winds. Ours stood fine however so it could just be down to tent type/pitching. Thank You :-)

Me and my friends stayed here and it was a great experience
Cheap and cheerful
Close to town
Amenities good
They allow camp fires as well
Will for sure stay here again
Nice and friendly owners as well they came round with fire wood every so often so we never ran short. Toilets and shower in good condition with no queuing.
Would highly recommend this site to anyone couples or groups.
