This site is beautiful. We stayed here as I was working in Leeds for a few days on the way up north on holiday. 20 minutes by train to Leeds town centre from Wakefield.

The toilet facilities are beautiful with hot showers, lots of space and a free hairdryer (no 20p required!) They are always clean with lots of toilet paper and towels.

The owners are very friendly and helpful at all times. We arrived at 10.30 and while they do leave late arrivals packs out for you with all information we required a pitch closer to the toilets as my friend is disabled. This wasn't a problem and they pitched us within feet of the toilets.

Dogs are very welcome and there is lots of walks and fields around to exercise them in.

Would definitely return if had to come to this neck of the woods again.

We stayed in July 2009. The hard standing pitches are small. No views from pitches with overhanging trees making rainy nights especially noisy. Half the pitches appear to be 'residential' and the levels of noise are unacceptable for a touring site, cars revving etc with people going to their places of work from 5.30am onwards, also lots of traffic due to the large residential site at the rear, all the traffic passes the touring site to get off the site and our pitch was beside the drive.

We didn't use any of the facilities as we use the ones in the Caravan, although there aren't many water taps.

We had pre-paid and we complained, left a day early and were promised a refund for the night we didn't stay (after a very heated discussion as the Manager didn't seem interested in any customer feedback) but the refund has never arrived, despite their promises.

Wouldn't recommend this site for anyone wanting to spend days in the caravan relaxing. Expensive for what it is.

We stayed here for just the one night and found it a really lovely place. Small but adequate play area for the kids, lovely clean toilets and free showers. Free hairdryer too. Plenty of space between each van too which was nice. Because it's set in a woodland you don't get full sun all the time, which suited us perfectly.
There isn't a shop as such, just a few basic necessities at reception, which we found a little disappointing as they didn't have the two items I asked for! (carton of orange juice for breakfast and some batteries for the camera!)
As we arrived a little late and reception was closed the details of our pitch etc were left in a late arrivals box by reception. They were very clear and easy to understand, and also had details of special offers etc which was interesting.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back. The only downside is that there is no bar or indoor kids room here so make sure they have plenty to keep them occupied if it rains! There are a couple of pubs on the main road but unless you want to trek a couple of miles you'll need to get a taxi (ours cost £3.50 each way)

Just to add to our previous review, we have just spent another lovely weekend here at Nostell Priory and they have made some improvements over the winter by re gravelling all of the touring caravan pitches and laying a new gravel road through the touring site, now making the access much better and solving the mud problems!
Well done Nostell Priory, it's great to see sites investing in new facilities at a time like this, we will be back soon!

We have used this site three times now over the last couple of years, it's nice and local for us for a short hop on a nice weekend. The access is good and the setting is beautiful, tree lined avenue leading up to it and nice welcoming reception area. The touring field is fine, hard standing for most pitches, but.The field does get boggy in wet weather, it really could do with a gravel or tarmac road leading to the pitches to avoid the big muddy ruts the ground gets! We do like it here, there are numerous walks and you can access the grounds of the house itself in an evening for a pleasant walk. There is a carvery about a mile and a half down the road for £ 3.00, yes £ 3.00 great value and good food too! The toilets and showers are always clean and tidy, good sizes to take children in with you. Small on site shop for basics. All in all it is a great little site, the last weekend we had there was in some beautiful summer weather and we sat out till late with family and drinks and a BBQ - no road noise, right back to nature - perfect. Well recommended.

We only booked in to stay one night and were initially quite disappointed with the tent area as it was a small clearing underneath a thick canopy of trees but once we'd pitched the tent, we ended up with a lovely, private area, shaded from the light rain and wind.

The owners were very friendly and flexible with their rule of no disposable BBQs as we took a stand and brought it home with us as rubbish when we left.

The toilet block was lovely, loads of toilets, plenty of toilet paper and soap. There are 4 showers and 2 sink cubicles with curtains and a few more sins in the main area. There's even a full length mirror and a hair dryer! The code for the lock on the door is easy to remember too!

There's plenty of wildlife around, my Son saw a rabbit and a squirrel and we heard owls at night time but didn't manage to spot one!

The small playground kept my Son happy and there were quite a few kids around.

All in all, lovely, albeit muddy but this is the weekend after the heavy rain so it wasn't an issue.

We'd definitely go back.

We visited Nostell Priory with our folding camper and two kids and dog. On arriving we weren't sure that we had the right place. There is a sign on entering the driveway, but then you drive a long way down a small road and it feels like you are making a mistake and entering the National Trust property instead of the campsite. But keep your nerve and you will arrive! There are plenty of passing places and the road is good.

The campsite is located very close to Nostell Priory National Trust property and you receive free tickets to the grounds whilst you are camped, which is great. You can upgrade these quite cheaply to visit the house also. There is a nice cafe in the priory grounds and they are also building a great outdoor adventure playground which is opening very soon. The house is interesting and also has an activity sheet which interested my 7 and 9 year olds - finding dogs in all the rooms! Nostell Priory is a pleasant walk from the campsite and we went backward and forward several times. No dogs are allowed in the gardens however. There is also a beautiful lake to walk around complete with water lillies!

The site itself is mostly very nice - pleasant and spotlessly clean loos with soap and paper towels, a good washing up room and children's play area. The big problem with the site was mud! We had to slip and slide through it every time we wanted to go to the loo or the washing up room. Although it didn't actually rain during our stay, standing water remained in the touring area in big puddles and didn't seem to drain away at all. The owners have asked campers not to park on their pitches when it is wet, presumably in an attempt to reduce the mud, but the drainage seemed to be at fault to me.

The site is very peaceful and is surrounded by trees, which I liked, but don't go if you are a sun worshipper! There is a lovely 'nature trail' in an adjacent field which we used as a dog walk - most people seemed very good about clearing up.

It is the most expensive site we've stayed on and the location is lovely, as are the loos and other facilities, but I wouldn't book again unless I could get a pitch in the hardstanding area near the facilities, or the weather were very dry.

We have given up camping and bought a Caravan! Decided to go to Nostell Priory for our first trip out. Yes I know strange place to go - near Wakefield ! But it was great, a young boy who worked there, helped us reverse and level the caravan- very grateful.
Small shop on site and a Co-op in Ackworth. The showers and toilets were spotlessly clean. The weather was scorching , had a lovely walk in the grounds of Nostell.
Found a pub about a mile down the road( turn right at entrance) that did a carvery for £3, £6 on Sundays. Perfect for a relaxing weekend.

Chose to go here on a Friday night, my partner had been here before a few years ago and as it was reasonably close by it seemed like a good choice at the time. We were greeted by the owners who were friendly enough and warned us that the camping area was a bit boggy.

On checking it out, our concern wasn't the mud, but the owner led us to an area where two other tents were pitched. We initially thought that they were using this area temporarily until their camping field dried out, but this was in fact the only 'Tent Area'. It seems very much that tents are not particularly well catered for or welcomed as they are sandwiched onto this tiny grass verge which is really just part of the driveway for caravans.

We did initially decide that we would give it a go though, until they wanted to charge us. £19.00 for one tent for one nights camping! I was so shocked that I nodded dumbly and took the list of rules, and it wasnt until my partner made me come to my senses that we went back and said we had changed our mind. The manageress was quite happy to give us our money back without any argument.

Lovely if you have a caravan though, really pretty with excellent facilities as far as we saw.

I havent stayed on this site yet but I have visited family while they were staying there, having seen what I have seen I will be making a booking very soon. The toilets and showers are spotless my sister-in-law who stayed on the site told me that they were always cleaning them every time she went to the loo. I didn't use the shop but my neice tells me they sell things like bacon eggs milk bread papers mags etc.

It rained some of the weekend but it didnt spoil our visit or our familys stay there. The kids enjoyed the park area and splashing in the puddles in there welli bobs.
