 We spent two nights at East Crinnis and had a wonderful time in our caravan. Our pitch was number 12 which was a hard standing with grass surrounded by hedges giving a good degree of privacy. We had electric hookup and the water supply was just metres from our pitch. The chemical disposal point was a minute or so away and had running water there so the toilet container could be rinsed out - always a bonus! The shower block was less than a minute away which had plenty of toilets, lots of toilet paper, soap and a hand dryer. The showers had lots of free hot water however they were a bit draughty (it was only mid March) so on the second day I used the shower room which was a lot more pleasant. A free hair dryer was also available.
A real plus point was the free wifi on site and the wardens could not have been more helpful or friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Our children enjoyed the freedom of the quite site, the children's play area was great and they had it entirely to themselves as they were the only children staying. We would definitely return to this site when we are back in this part of Cornwall again.

My wife and I returned for our second visit to East Crinnis at the begining of September. Our first visit was in 2011.
The pitches are very spacious and have privacy hedges between. On the pitch we were allocated there was room for our caravan plus awning and room to park the car across the width.
Since our first visit a new shower and amenity block has been built. The facilities in the block are first class. Roomy hot showers and plenty of basins. A plus point well worth a mention is the high quality toilet paper in the toilets. The block also includes a laundry room, separate disabled facilities, baby changing room and an information room with a detailed map and brochures of attractions in Cornwall.
The staff are very pleasant and helpful and every day they hang an information board outside the office giving details of the weather, high and low tides, sunrise and sunset times and details of any special attractions for that day.
This is definitely a site we will be returning to as it is well situated for the Eden Project and many other towns and attractions.

We loved this campsite. It is the kind of site I'd love to be able to pick up and move around the country, so that I could stay in it each time we explored a new area.
We stayed in the hedged area near the children's playground. There are some pitches that are smaller than others so it is a good idea to mention the size of your tent when booking.
The shower/toilet block was well maintained and an added bonus, the toilet paper they use is decent quality.
I gave the site location 8 of 10 because it is near a main road and you can sometimes hear the odd train. In truth the noise wasn't too bad and certainly wouldn't put me off visiting again. The bonus of the main road is getting to and from the campsite is easy and the supermarkets aren't too far.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The story telling evenings around the campfire with pasties were a lovely extra.
My children aged 8 and 6, loved the playground. When we got back from days out, they'd be off to play. The little tarred road around the pitches made a nice area for cycling.
I have and will continue, to recommend this site to friends and family.

We enjoyed a 7 night stay at East Crinnis.
Pro's: Great site in excellent location
Superb story telling / Great staff / site is small and friendly.
Cons: New shower block, adequate but looks like a DIY project rather than a professional build (Loose fixtures / wall panels / unfinished exterior wont stay looking good or last for long).
Pitches have hard gravel surface that pierce groundsheet if you are not careful.
Would return again but would choose a better pitch if available.

Nice wee site - tucked away from the road and with nice spacious pitches, very clean toilet block and friendly helpful staff.
30 minute brisk walk to the Eden Project (timed it!)
And short walk to beach (although not the most picturesque one!)
Also about 10 min bike ride from Tesco and an excellent butchers just before Tesco - recommend their sirloin steak, Boerwurst and burgers - good prices too.
Took us about an hour to cycle to The Lost Garden of Heligan.
Also has a small pond with a fire area.

Just had a lovely 10 day break at East Crinnis with, my wife and our sons, 8 and 10. We were camped on a field up from the main site, and due to our own late booking didn't get an electric hookup. However there is a microwave, freezer and electric kettle locate in the shower block a short walk away. The showers were cleaned at least 3 times a day, thought in the block nearest to us there was just 1 loo and 1 shower per gender. That said I never had to wait. There was also a washing up room. At the main block, about 1min away there were plenty of showers including a family sized cubical in addition to the baby one accessible to both genders, Loos, laundry (about £4 a load to wash), wifi hotspots (variable speed but useable) and another freezer, kettle, microwave - and 3 outdoor, but covered washing up sinks.
The grounds of the campsite are very pleasant though not quite as rural as the website suggests, there are a couple of houses mixed into the site, and it is sandwiched between a moderately busy road and a housing estate 1 field away. The lake is very picturesque, but you are aware of the road. There is also a very pleasant wooden playground with swing, fort etc.
On Monday evening we went to a free of charge story telling, with a pasty, I'm not a big fan of organised activities but this was really pleasant sitting round the campfire whilst being told some tall tales. Incidentally the Cornish storyteller also performs at the eden project and we did notice the same story being told - so if you do visit eden, you might want to save the story telling for the campsite.
The staff were universally pleasant and helpful, with lots of suggestions of things to do. Our boys were happy to run around, take fishing nets to the lake etc.
Weather was mixed (it is the UK!), but plenty of things to do in the locality. Obvious attraction is the the Eden Project, if you gift aid your ticket, you get a year pass at no extra cost - so worth going early in your hols, then a second visit towards the end for 'free'.
There are some lovely beaches within 5-10min drive, Tesco, Asda and Aldi are easily reachable in St Austell.
Overall then, a really good campsite - the only 'buts' are - The location is not quite a rural as you might expect (road and train noise - you can hear the sea at night as long as there are no cars or trains!)though the up side of this is convenience and we felt a bit cramped on our pitch, we have a Vango Vista 800, which is 7. 5m without guys, and had to pitch it diagonally to get it to fit, leaving little room for dinning, car etc. Other pitches were larger, some smaller, so I'm prepared to believe this was due to our last minute booking.
One last point, our previous camping expeditions with this tent have been in France. The norm on the sites we have stayed at is to of vacated the pitch by 12:30 or 1pm. At East Crinnis it is 11am. The problem with this is that the tent is still wet with dew as our pitch was also shaded. To add a bit of further pressure to trying to pack away a large tent and all the paraphernalia of a family outing, the next occupants turned up just before 11 and hovered. Surely it would make sense to have a vacate by 12, arrive after 1 type of policy to reduce the pressure a bit?

So this site is brilliant, we really enjoyed our stay here, the facilities are excellent, the owners and wardens lovely, very helpful and readily available as they stay on site.
We arrived for our week long stay on a Saturday in July quite late due to traffic problems. We'd called earlier to say we'd be late and the warden told us not to worry they would be around for us. When we arrived they told us not to worry about any paperwork/payments we could sort it in the morning and they'd get us settled in with everything we needed instead. It was so nice after a horrible trip over to the site (7 hours instead of the 3. 5 it should have been!)
We were offered a choice of 2 pitches and we decided on the larger of the 2 as our tent has a large footprint (7m x 7m). If you have the choice of pitches I can thoroughly recommend the Summer Meadow part of the site as it is very leafy, has it's own shower/toilet/kitchen block and is tucked away from the rest of the main site. Not to say the rest of the site isn't lovely it just has a different feel as it is surrounded by log cabins, reception and the large shower/toilet and laundry block.
In terms of the facilities I can't fault them, the blocks were cleaned regularly and there was always plenty of hot water for showers and dishes. The small kitchen in our block had a kettle, microwave, freezer for ice packs and full kitchen sink. One shower and two toilets for women and the same for the men in our block but a lot more in the main block as you would expect. I never had to wait for the shower and there was plenty of hot water at different times of the day.
The laundry had a washer and dryer you had to pay for but this was no more than you would pay in a laundrette elsewhere. There was also a wi-fi room you could go and sit in to use the connection with lots of local information and recommendations on the walls and leaflets to take away. All the facilities apart from the laundry was free to use. They also have a lake you can fish in if you have the relevant permit.
The reception also had a small shop that sold water, milk, juice and some kids toys like bucket and spades and kites and was open for several hours in the morning and again in the late afternoon. However if you ever needed anything outside these times the wardens were available 24/7 in their caravan on site and via a mobile phone number. Oh and there was also a play park for the kids which was nicely done and should keep small children happy for awhile, our 2 year old daughter loved it.
Our pitch was a good size and pegs went in easily too. We did suffer a little from an earwig infestation but I think that was due to the damp but not sodden weather that brought them all out.
Every Monday night through the summer the site also holds a story night in one of their fields with pasties for everyone and lovely stories told round a camp fire, all for free!
The only slight negatives I can mention are the fact that a railway line runs fairly close to the site and there is a main road out front, neither of which stopped us from enjoying the site but if it bothers you being that close to these things you might want to reconsider. The benefits of being so close to St Austell are obvious; shops, pubs and other town amenities which are very useful when camping with kids.
The local beaches are all close by though I would recommend driving to them not walking as it's a bit of a hike otherwise. They are all nice so would say try them all while you're there.
For days out, the Eden Project is 5 minutes drive away and well worth a visit, the screech owl sanctuary about 1/2 hour away near St Columb is also a great afternoon out. If you like gardens, Heligan is only 20 minutes or so away. For seaside towns Mevagissey and Fowey are also great. Mevagissey has a model railway museum which is worth a look if that's your kind of thing.

This site was so pretty and well maintained/clean. I really liked this site and wished we stayed longer. The warden and his wife are so friendly as is they little dog!
The site is compact so no trekking to the toilet however the pitches are well spaced out. We arrived on a Sunday and noticed a massive car boot sale next door which was fab!
The walk to the beach was a bit of a trek and wished we drove there however all was good when we seen the sea view.
We would definitely return on our next road trip.
Thanks for a pleasant stay!

We have just spent 8 nights in our folding camper. What a fantastic site. The owners are friendly and helpful. The pitches are very spacious, the toilets and showers are cleaned twice a day and there is plenty of hot water.
There is a separate building for washing up which also has a washing machine, dryer, ironing board and iron and an electric kettle. Eden project is about 5 miles away.
St Austell about 2 miles where there is a Tesco and Asda supermarket, and is good site for touring the area. Outside the reception they have a board which tells you of events going on in the area for the day and the weather forecast.
It is dog friendly, the dog walking area is on the left as you turn in, its a lovely big pond (with lots of fish in) very well kept with some seats. There in no doubt we will definitely be going back.

I really liked this site, really pleasant staff, particularly the wardens and their lovely dog.
The site is quiet, great pitches and I really liked the upright granite stones around the place.
It is easy to find and excellently placed if visiting the Eden Project.
The facilities are clean and adequate, showers are a little frustrating only staying on a minute or so every time you press the button.
There is even a small fishing pond with lots of small Roach and Rudd. Ideal for small kids learning the sport.
I would definitely recommend it.
