We stayed here on Saturday to visit my daughter at Sheffield Uni and see the tour de france. We thought the site was really great, lovely and peaceful, very relaxing. Having chickens at home we loved seeing the chickens live freely.
We used the local taxi service which was great and cost about £8 to get to the city centre. We visited a nearby area with a few food and drink places within about 10minutes taxi journey costing about £5 in a taxi.
We met the lady who ran the farm, she was very friendly and relaxed. We would recommend this to anyone and was easy to find.

This camp site is a small family run pleasant place. It's also a working farm that has cows in the fields and chickens. The whole place is clean and well kept. Plenty of on site space for children to play safely as it's off the main road.
The camp site is situated approximately 10-15 minutes from Bradfield, Derbyshire and the town centre. Down the road and over the hill there is a lovely village of Stannington with parks and pubs shops etc hillsborough and crosspool are a 5 minute drive where there are plenty if shops and local pubs.
If you like to walk or have dogs there are plenty of walks to chose from. If you're not sure of the area, carol who runs the sight is always around down at the farm to give directions. She's a friendly lady and on hand to speak too.
The setting of this camp site makes you feel a million miles away. Quiet, relaxing and friendly.
Couldn't recommend this place enough. No frills propper camping. We love it and have returned on more than one occasion.

I found this site whilst looking for tent accommodation for myself and a team of 3 other photographers covering the British Transplant Games in Sheffield.
At only 5 miles from the city centre, and with a cost of only £8/Night per person I couldn't complain at all!
The site is clean, well kept, scenic and quiet.
There are no limits on time in/out of the site too!
The owners of the site are dairy farmers and there were cattle and ponies in the adjacent field, though I had no problems with manure or noise as some of the other reviewers have suggested.
Mosquitoes were a problem in the field, so I would recommend using a non-DEET repellent every day and whilst sleeping just to keep them away.
The site is managed by a rather old lady (in her 90's) and she takes a while to come to the door; her pricing is also rather variable; whilst my staff were on at £8/Night per person, another camper was on at £7/Night a young couple were on at £20/Night and a guy opposite us who left very early every morning for work (earlier than us who were up at 5AM) was on just £3/Night. So I guess it's down to how much she likes the look of you and how well you behave.
She also kindly provided a VAT receipt for my accounts!
Fresh eggs are available on-site from the farmhouse and come from the chickens that wander the grounds near the toilets and showers. They're cracking little creatures.
All in all, I loved our stay there and it can be only described as a 'relaxing working holiday'. Watching the sun rise each morning across the tree covered hills below us and the cleanliness of the place was idyllic!
Would definitely use this site again!

This was pretty much as per the other reviews. We stayed on a really hot weekend and arrived at 8. 30 pm.
Just set up and used the shower and left in the morning after paying. No-one came to ask us for any money and it took a while to find the right door to knock on to pay the owner - the lady who answered was about 86 years old, so not sure who runs the farm.
Yes there are cow pats in the field, yes it is very close to sheffield (you wouldn't believe it as it is so rural) and the showers are free and clean enough. Pretty much how I like to camp - simple and clean.
For 2 adults ad two kids it cost £15 for one night.
Only warning is the turning for the campsite is Lodge Lane and is the first turn on the left as you come into the countryside and it is very hard to miss so keep your eyes peeled!

Lovely small quiet site on the edge of Peak district. Caters for 6 units in total, with basic clean toilets and showers.
In the middle of working farm, hence fresh eggs at the farm house and a dog by the back door chained up that warns the occupants of farm house
When we call to pay our bill.
Total darkness at night, which makes a nice change. As we find bright night lights intrusive
Excellent position for visiting Sheffield and walks galore all around.
My children and I have marked this as one to return to.

This was our second time out with our 'new' touring caravan. Having read some of the earlier reviews I was a little concerned about the steep access road and being able to level the van on site. We chose the site because it was only 3 miles from the university accommodation where my daughter lived.
As it happened neither of my concerns was a real problem. We easily got up the access road and decided to site the van on a sloping grass pitch rather than a relatively flat hard standing. (We would have to do it at sometime and there were very few people around to laugh!). With a bit of judicious reversing we levelled the van reasonably well.
The site is relatively small, mainly seasonal caravans. The folks we met were very friendly and offered advice when asked. The ablutions were a little dated, but for £12 a night plus £2 for EHU, I felt that we were well served. We did not have childrenwith us, but there would have been no play area for them.
A previous reviewer said there was nowhere near by to walk dogs. It may be a new addition, but if you walk out of the site turn right and walk up the road for about 150m there is a ‘Sheffield City Footpath’ that goes through a wood. Not the longest walk, but sufficient to meet the basic needs of our 2 collies. The road did have some traffic on it at midday, but was relatively quiet early morning and in the evening.
Would definitely go back, because of the ease of access to Sheffield City and the university.

Can I say don't expect too much from this site and you wont be disappointed. Beautiful views from this site, although I would say if you are serious walkers fine but we have 2 small dogs and found there was no where near by for a stroll as out of entrance led on to a road with no footpaths which got quite busy at times.
Site is on a slope so if in Motorhome or Caravan you might have problems.
Chemical disposal point not very well placed as next to washing up facilities.
I would say £12 a night which we paid was a fair price in view of conditions of site.

Spent the weekend on this site, which was quite pleasant with good views over the hills, hard to believe your five minutes away from a massive city.
The tent field was fairly well looked after, and although dated, the toilet and shower block were very clean. The mens side has 2 showers, 2 toilets,2 sinks and a urinal. Also in the washing up room there is a chemical toilet disposal point.
Quite close by for us so will probably return, but at £10 per night its more expensive than other basic sites we visit. Lots of walks in the area as you are virtually in the peak district.

For the price (I think it was £5 at the time), this campsite is excellent value. The field was a bit rough, but the showers and toilets were better than many other sites I've stayed at for a much higher price.
Location is good too; only about 6 miles from Sheffield city centre and within walking distance of many walks.

This site is a residential site as well as a caravan and camping site. It is on a working farm and has the very minute basics to offer. The toilets are well kept and clean however the camping fields are un attended and rough. Bus stops are close and buses are regular. There are no shops close by but bread eggs and milk can be bought at the farm house. Surrounding areas are beautiful. Plenty for all ages to do within a three mile distance. Away from the old snake path road, roads are extremely steep, windy and narrow. Would visit location again but not sure of the site though there seems to be only one other camping area within that vicinity. Visit open minded.
