As seasoned motorhomers we were disappointed with the facilities available for motorhomes. There is no proper grey water disposal facility for motorhomes and the designated fresh water taps are inconvenient for topping up a large motorhome especially when the grass is wet from heavy rain. There is no hardstanding and the night we were there it rained all night and consequently we got stuck! The farmer with his tractor was very obliging and we didn't have to wait long but it really shouldn't have happened at all. We were trying to access a water tap and if we had been told of one which was by the entrance on tarmac we wouldn't have tried to use the one on the field. The site is quiet and spacious and well placed for exploring the area. The owners were pleasant and the other facilities were fine but we feel that it was rather expensive compared to other sites we have been on and the aspirations of the owners towards glamping rather exceed the reality. This review is written from the point of view of motorhomers. If you are camping rather than in a motorhome everything is good.

We came across this site by accident and are quite glad about it.The owners were very friendly and happy to help.
The facilities are maybe in need of some tlc but to have the use of a freezer and fridge on site is priceless. There are 3 toilets and a separate mens urinal, 4 showers(1 in a shed for the ultimate camping experience!) washing machine and tumble dryer and 2 dish washing sinks and a hairdryer.
Whilst we were there the week leading up to the bank holiday it wasn't too busy but come the weekend it got busier and was feeling a little on top of each other and could have done with a bit of organizing but then other campers could have consideration for others too.
In the village of Marloes is a shop with post office,a pub, cafe / restaurant and a small playground with swings. There are 2 beaches nearby via a short drive or energetic walk.
On a Friday + Saturday night the mobile fish and chip van comes around if you don't fancy cooking.
We were 2 tents with children and will definitely be returning again.

The contents of previous reviews of this site led us to opt for it this year. Whilst Marloes and surrounding area lives up to its reputation I'm afraid Foxdale falls short of what has previously been written about it. At £18.50 per night for 2 adults, tent and electric I expected a little more than I got when compared with the £12.50 charged at places like Windmill Hill Farm, Pembroke.
Arriving at around 1pm we expected somebody to be in attendance at reception but this was not the case. A note was posted on the reception window advising campers to 'pitch on the right and we will see you later.' Having prebooked our pitch for 4 nights we set up on our designated pitch and settled in. Anyone who turned up on speck could quite easily fall into the trap of pitching in the wrong place and face relocating their tent once a member of staff appeared. It was early evening before we made contact with the site owners.
Facilities on site are adequate if not a little tired. Paper towels in the washroom toilets were a hit or miss and the whole place had the appearance of needing some tender loving care.
This is a site that has recently changed hands.
There is a bar and restaurant that caters for the on site bed and breakfast business but campers are free to use it when it's open. The fare available to campers, as taken from the menu in the reception window, is very basic and prices are on the reasonable to high side.
All in all this site is situated in a lovely unspoilt part of Pembrokeshire. It would benefit from the presence of an on-site warden to meet and greet campers and allocate pitches. Pitches would benefit with being numbered so that campers can pitch on arrival if nobody is on site to meet them. A list of arrivals and departure posted on the reception window would enable campers to pitch in absence of campsite staff.
This is a site with massive potential. Get the balance right and it could be a goldmine. After all campers are self sufficient people. All they ask for is information on where to pitch and what time they have to vacate on day of departure.
I really wish the new proprietors the best of luck and hope they heed campers feedback. The return visitors are the ones that matter. A warm welcome and cheery farewell is all it costs and in monetary terms that cost nothing.

We stayed one night on this site hoping to visit Skomer, but the evening ferry wasn't running because it was a Bank Holiday. We decided to console ourselves with dinner in the local pub, but they stopped serving food when we arrived. The one restaurant in the village was also closed.
We returned to the campsite feeling a bit fed up but the new owners were more than happy to cook us a delicious meal all served with wine/beer. We were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Lots of other people were booking breakfast or packed lunches for the following day and the owners were equally accommodating.
Apart from the wonderful food and nice welcome we were impressed by the cleanliness of the site and would recommend to others.
We are sure this new venture will be a success if our visit is anything to go by.

I've stayed at this site before, a couple of years ago. It's a lovely little place and the facilities are good - showers, a private little room for a strip wash if the showers are in use, and lots of hot water. There's a fridge and a freezer too. There's a post office in walking distance that sells bread etc. When we went the site was very quiet - maybe a dozen tents or so. I can imagine that when it's busy the facilities might be a bit stretched. The area is lovely - we took the ferry to Skomer. There's a £10 charge for the ferry and a £7 landing fee at Skomer, so the £4 to park at the National Trust on top of that made the whole trip expensive. The beach is wonderful and worth the walk. The roads are narrow and the banks are high, a bit like Cornwall so I wouldn't take a big motorhome or caravan :-) Make sure you ask about the rates - they quote £5 pppn on the website, we paid quite a lot more than that! We had an awning and a dog which worked out at £16 per night.

An excellent campsite with friendly, helpful staff, clean facilities and set in quite wonderful surroundings. The owners indicated that they may be selling up and moving on in the near future which would be a shame. Hopefully any new owners will keep up the same high standards.

Just visited this site for the August Bank Holiday, and was a little disappointed. The site itself is lovely - very tranquil, beautiful spot. Everyone seemed to keep their kids under control and they tended to be quiet by around 9:30, which meant mine could get to sleep when they needed to! There is a breakfast bar on site which is really handy, and very reasonably priced. The bar for drinks was also reasonably priced and handy for when you run out of wine! The problems I had with the site were that it seemed like there were far too many tents on it. They seem to take more units than usual for the bank holiday, and it did show with tents on top of each other and people having trouble getting their cars to their tents. The facilities were also not adequate for the number of people there for the bank holiday, with queues for the toilets and showers. The showers themselves were also not very good, although I did see them being cleaned quite regularly. I think perhaps if you were there outside the bank holiday period then this wouldn't be so much of a problem. There is a lovely beach nearby at Marloes sands (but its a hike from the carpark). If you do go there, I'd advise you park in the field just before the NT CA

After reading all the rave reviews of this campsite my expectations were most probably a little too high, and was a little disappointed with the site. Don't get me wrong - we had a great weekend and the weather was brilliant. As far as the facilities went - they could have been better - only 3 toilets for the whole of the campsite - queing with a 3 yr old not very easy - when they need to go, they really need to go! Showers weren't that much better - only two, and after queing for 20 minutes, they were sodden and also quite dirty.
The campsite was lovely - very quiet and peaceful and the little campers breakfast bar very handy on a lazy morning. The only draw back was that there were no set pitches, basically people just pitched their tent where they could squeeze in - a little too close for comfort. The owners were very friendly and are in the process of rebuilding the pool which should be lovely once finished. Very reasonable prices at the small bar and the washing facilities were very good and free. Watch out for the tarriffs - add on a few more pound than what they are advertising on their website.

Good site. Very quiet and peaceful. There are only two toilets, but this was adequate for the numbers of campers that were there. Campsite does a campers breakfast, has a small bar, dishwashing, cubicles with sinks and showers. All were clean and well maintained. The site is near to shops / pub and walking distance to the marvellous Marlow Sands. This is the third time we have stayed here, twice camping and once in the B&B. Highly recommended in a beautiful area of Wales and ideal for those who want a quiet simple break.

This is the 3rd year we have been back to Foxdale and once again we have had a fantastic week. The facilities are always clean and tidy and never involved a long wait at busy times. The site changed hands earlier this year and the new owners were very warm and welcoming so the nature of the site has not changed at all. Although busy (they run a guest house as well!) Heather, one of the owners, always had time for a smile and a chat. Can't wait to go back next year.
