Stayed here for five night. Regardless of what is said traffic noise can be heard from anywhere on the site and is a constant noise which awakes you from about six in the morning if it has not given you a disturbed night.
That aside this is a great base for visiting Bath Longleat and even a trip to the coast at Weston Super Mare and Cheddar Gorge.
The Toilets and showers are adequate but I would be worried if it was a very full site if they are enough. Only concern we had with the site was a risk of flooding due to the volume of rain with the owners checking the river levels one night( apparently the site was evacuated in May due to a flood). The field was very wet. Excellent milk available to buy on site but unfortunately never got to try the cream teas.

Just come back from a lovely 5 night stay here, absolutely great stay, quiet, peaceful, noise of traffic did not worry us and you forgot about it.
History of the place, showering in the 'cow shed' was unusual and quirky, best shower ever big cubicles so could get a couple in there and lasted ages.
Missed the afternoon tea as out all the time, gutted!
Bradford on avon lovely good food and watching the barges go by at the barge inn is a must.
Trowbridge more modern and has everything even a tesco extra! brilliant. Longleat day great.
The only down side to this is no shop but they do sell lovely milk! would definitely go back there. Thank you

Have just returned from a mid-week 3-night visit to this site.
There are two camping fields, one is right next to a busy road, the other a bit further back by a stream. Luckily this was a quiet time with only half a dozen tents in total so we could pick a nice spot in the quieter field, near the stream which itself does produce a bit of noise but we really liked the sound of running water and it seemed to make me sleep very soundly. The field was very flat and grassy, not muddy, easy to pitch.
Barbecues off the ground are allowed but no campfires which is a big minus in my book.
The toilets are kept clean (the floor will always get a bit muddy of course!) and stocked with toilet paper. The showers cost 50p and last for a long time. I thought the showers were charming and really liked the cobbled floor in particular. There are washing up sinks with hot water, too.
The customer service was friendly but a bit disorganised. The website mentioned a discount rate for campers arriving on foot or on bikes and I enquired about this in my booking email. The person who responded said that the discounted rate would be £12 per night (instead of £13) but when I called up to pay the deposit, and again on arrival at the campsite, the people I spoke to were unaware that a lower rate had been agreed. They didn't quibble over it but I had to have the same conversation with each person I spoke to which was a bit annoying.
We had a very yummy cream tea in the manor house and the untreated jersey milk they had on sale was excellent, too. Had a swim in the river Frome swimming club a couple of fields away. Water was cold but it's always worth seizing an opportunity for wild swimming!
We walked to the campsite from Trowbridge (3mi) which I cannot recommend as you have to walk alongside a busy road. Had a couple of day walks but be warned, the local footpaths are quite badly kept and signposted, even the Macmillan Way, especially on the way south. We walked to Beckington where there was a nice farm shop but the footpath took us through fields of thistles and nettles 4ft high and over an A road which was difficult to cross. So we didn't find the area very good for walking and it's probably better if you can drive to eg. Avoncliff and then have a little walk along the canal.
There was a nice pub at Avoncliff and also at Westwood not far away. There are no shops except a little village store at Westwood and a Sainburys just south of Bradford on Avon; we walked there (no other option) but it's not an easy walk either.
There's an English Heritage property in the next village, Farleigh Hungerford castle ruin which is an interesting place to visit. Westwood Manor (National Trust) also looked interesting but we walked past it on the wrong day - check opening times.

Campsite is in a great place for walks. However the site wasn't the best I have stayed in 2showers at 50p ago and only one was working at the time of our stay, wouldn't want to wait for one in summer months,
We had a group next to us playing load music and laughing out loud until 1 in the morning only seen the owner once on arrival, and would have thought they would go around the campsite to check things are ok as on other sites and we had to walk to the toilet block to get water as the water was off in the field,
It's a shame as we liked the look of the site and drove fron devon we wont be going again.

We stayed for 1 night's camping in September. What a lovely quirky little site! We parked up the van and hooked up to our electric and then made our way to the tea room for probably the best cream tea we have ever had! Lashings of cream and jam and 2 lovely home baked scones and tea served in china cups with a lovely matching tea pot. It was all rather civilised! And the tea room decor was wonderfully old fashioned!
After stuffing our faces we returned to the van for a snooze and then went off to have showers in the lovely converted stable block. It was all very clean and tidy and the showers lasted ages - in fact I reckoned 1 x 50p shower would have been enough for 2 people! The toilets were a bit dated but they did the trick.
We went for a walk along the river and even had a dip in the water. ! When we came back we had some trouble lighting our bbq, however one of the craftsmen from the workshops at the farm was walking his dog and very kindly offered us lots of free wood to get the fire going - which it did and we sat watching the stars for hours in the warmth of our fire! Delicious!
Looking at other people's comments, we did have our windows open all night but did not notice the road noise or the river noise. But we did hear the hunting owls! Wicked!
All in all a great stay and we will be back!

Our experience at this campsite was unbelievably negative in almost every respect.
First of all the welcome we got from the owner was rude and unfriendly. Customer service was not his thing, and as paying customers we were taken aback.
There are two camping fields, one of which was damp and boggy with a dead end feel about it, and the other was basically a rectangular field beside an extremely busy and noisy road, which could be heard from both fields.
There are two showers in the stable block. You are expected to stand in a cubicle with an inclined cobbled floor whilst your suds cascade under the door and in the path of fellow campers. Unbelievable!
The three toilets were simply dated, unclean and inevitably smelly.
We had big expectation of Stowford Manor Farm Campsite, but were extremely disappointed. After driving 200 miles to get there, we only stayed the one night, and guess what - showering was out of the question!

I camped here with a friend in a tent for one rather rainy week in July. If you happen to be around in the afternoon and need shelter, the campsite runs its own rather nice tea shop, which also has a pretty outside seating area for more clement weather.
There are two beautifully level fields; however, traffic noise from the road can be heard virtually anywhere you pitch. The owner goes around every day cutting the grass as required.
I thought 50p for a shower was a bit steep, but as the campsite is very cheap otherwise, I let it pass! Although a previous reviewer sounds very positive about the facilities, when it is cold and wet outside neither my friend nor I found the showers (in a kind of converted stable) very enticing.
Moreover, there are only two of them, three wash basins and two sinks; the three toilets are on the other side of the courtyard from the washing facilities, but have hand basins in them with soap and towels.
You are approached on your first morning, even if possibly still 'in bed', and asked to pay up for the whole of your stay in advance.
If you are a cyclist, it is a great area, as you can cycle straight from the campsite to Bath or Devizes along the Kennet & Avon Canal. The countryside all around looks pretty. If you like gardens, you can walk or cycle to the Peto Gardens at Iford Manor, close by, which are really beautiful.
A little further afield at Holt there is a very nice little National Trust place called The Courts Garden, where I enjoyed identifying trees with a tree leaflet I purchased there.
Again it has a good tea room. In conclusion, I might return to that campsite just for a few days for the flatness of the fields, the cheap cost and the surrounding countryside and attractions.
However, for a longer stay, the sound of traffic and the fact that there are no views from the site would deter me.

My family & I recently stayed for 2 nights at Stowford manor, as we spent a day at Longleat (which was excellent).
My mum, dad, sister, her husband & baby stayed in the B&B, whilst my friend and I slept in a tent. The camping facilities were fairly good. Showers require 50p for 15 mins. There was plug sockets for your hairdryer.
Camping area was large (2 fields). My family enjoyed their stay at the B&B, food was nice. Although there was no locks on their bedroom doors and 1 room you had to walk through 1 room to get to theirs.
They had a strict rule of 'no campers in the B&B'. So I only got to see my family when they came out to the site.
We had a meal at Hungerford arms, we were the only customers in the restaurant, but service was slow & they didn't have enough steaks for all of us.
All in all we had a good 2 nights stay.

My husband, 21 month old daughter and I spent one night here to meet up with Granny and her dog in her campervan. We drove through a lovely village and found the campsite with ease (we did have SatNav). We drove through the buildings, there were quite a few cars due to the number of workshops held) and found the reception on the left. We were shown to the field and given a few options of where to pitch. There were two fields and ours was furthest from the road and I preferred it.
The pitches are around the sides of the field. There are rivers either side and a lovely shallow(ish) ford. All the pitches were occupied by families - there were quite a few under 2s. We spent the day at the camp catching up and people watching!
There is an underground shelter in the field that the kids loved playing in and which made the field more interesting. There is no playground but there are swing ropes and ducks in the forde.
We wandered down to the weir. It was cloudy the day we visited and cold when the sun wasn't out (fellow campers told me that there was a frost on the grass when they woke up). I didn't think the weir looked as appealing as it does on the campsite's website. In fact it looked very slippery and unwelcoming but it was interesting to see it and read about the swimming club. Maybe on a hot summer's day it would be more inviting.
The facilities at the campsite were great - clean toilets and a fantastic shower and washing up block. I loved the real stone floor.
Ours was a fleeting visit but I have found myself thinking back to it over the week. It definitely made an impression, and I would return. It's one I would also recommend to friends.

I chose this campsite for my granddaughters first camping trip. The only negative was the lack of a signposted 'reception'. I eventually wandered into the farmhouse and was helped by one of the girls there.
The site is lovely. It was only about ten minutes before J was stripped off, made friends with the other children on camp and found the shallow ford with the rope swing. This would need constant adult supervision for the younger ones. It is shallow but muddy at the edges and wide. There's a deeper bit of the river a few yards further down for the braver! A pair of jelly shoes is a must for this bit as is a tadpole net.
The ablution facilities are excellent. Always clean and plenty of privacy. The 50p shower lasts ages, enough for a wash and condition ladies, but not long enough for a shave!
Lots of hot water, plenty of electrical hook-ups, lots of cold water taps.
The river swimming club is a very short walk away, as is the castle and there is plenty of space for outdoor games or just to sit and enjoy the sun.
There is a freezer in the farmhouse porch for ice bricks and the fridge below holds milk from the farms Jersey cows.
The farmhouse serves cream teas from two 'till 6 in an idyllic setting. The girls in there were always friendly and answered questions with a smile.
The noisiest thing was the dawn chorus but having seen so many different species of birds, including an owl or two, we revelled in the joy of nature.
We also got a lovely clear sky for a bit of stargazing too.
Overall a lovely camp which we shall be coming back to. Not crowded, plenty of space and a lovely atmosphere.
