A lovely, small site with great views all around. Lots of walks nearby, including the Manifold Valley trail.
Facilities are basic, but clean and well maintained - two toilets, two hand basins and showers (50p) and a separate covered washing up area.
The site was quiet when we stayed, with a mix of couples and young families.
Mrs Goodwin is really friendly and helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This is a great site if you like a bit of peace and quiet, off the beaten track. The views are superb all round. The facilities are clean, the site very tidy and the owners friendly and helpful. We went to meet friends who had been several times before because they enjoy it so much. The site is well situated for walks straight from the door and the Manifold Trail, for bikes and walkers, is about a mile away. Access is easiest from Hartington side which means that you can pick up supplies from the Hartington Cheese shop on the way!

Came here for a night with a friend and my dog. I have to agree with other reviews, lovely location, but hard to find, there are 'signs' on the roadside but if you blink you miss them as they are white, A4 size and about 18 inches off the ground (and as the verges had long grass this can prove difficult) so my advice would be (if your coming from Longnor) is when you come to a few buildings one with a light blue sign marked 'fox furniture' turn left down there, passed a few houses and your there. Yes there is a road, but you wouldn't know it, if you like to watch the sunrise, pitch you tent near and facing the road, it rises over the Derbyshire hills and on a clear morning would be fantastic, unfortunately our stay coincided with the tail end of a tropical storm, having said that, I do plan to return with friends as there is plenty of room on the site, facilities are basic but so is the site fee. It is an exposed site so take your windbreakers for shelter. Go for it.

We stayed over the bank holiday weekend. Just two of us with a small tent. The campsite is quite small which is nice and was not crowded. There is a small basic toilet block with a ladies and gents which was very clean. The two showers were not working because of a burst water main but we were told this in advance so it was fine. There is a sheltered area with hot water for washing dishes.
The field was a little waterlogged in some places (as stated in the previous review) but not to the extent that it was flooded or difficult to get cars out etc. When booking I spoke to several campsites in the area that were closed due to flooding as a result of heavy rain so I don't think the problem is site specific.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this basic but chilled out site. The site is next to a lane but there was hardly any traffic and the views all around are lovely.
We walked to the pub at Hulme End one night across fields (footpath clearly indicated) and back along the lanes when dark - takes about half an hour. The pub was okay but seemed a little overun by the family campsite across the road from it, certainly not a small cosy country pub. Night two we just sat outside our tent with a bottle of wine and took in the lovely sunset. Hulme End also has a great little village shop.
The site was reasonably priced at £4 per night each and the owner was friendly and relaxed - not chasing for payment as soon as you arrive etc.
Be careful with trying to find the site as searching with the postcode indicates directions down a dead end lane to a farm. The site is on a lane which runs north from Hulme End - look for Caravan Club signage.
Would definitely return.

This is a great site, it is really tucked away, in an area of amazing scenery. It is about a mile from the village of hulme end and despite being in the middle of nowhere the roads are plenty wide enough to tow on, but if you are towing or a average sized caravan it is a lot easier to get onto the track leading onto the field travelling from the Hulme village direction. There is no children's play area but it does not matter, there is loads of space for ball games etc.
There are plenty of good points:
- very friendly and helpful owners - plenty of space - reasonable rates - very clean and well looked after facilities
A couple of constructive criticisms:
- when we went it had rained loads the week before and the ground was very very wet, maybe a bit of drainage would help. - the light switches in the shower and WC facilities urgently need changing to either pull-cord type or 'waterproof / outside' type. At the moment they are normal domestic type which when wet can, as I found out! give a nasty electric shock.
Overall if you are looking for a small site with basic but well looked after facilities I am very happy to recommend this brilliant site, we will be going again.

Stayed for 2 nights and found the site ok, peaceful with everything clean but very basic, there's also no hot water to wash your dishes. The ground was soft which made it very easy to peg the tent out. Hulme end is a walk over fields for about one mile. If following the path, you pass near the farm house. In the village is the manifold trail and visitors centre and the Tissington trail is easily accessible in Hartington.

Had a brilliant time at this campsite.
Took D of E groups to this site. Loads and loads of room.
Owners Mr & Mrs Goodwin were brilliant. Very friendly. Even sorted myself and the other D of E leaders out with some milk when we had run out. Now thats service!
Undercover washing up area came in handy when it rained on the young people.
New shower and toilet block but small!
One toilet for the lads and one for the lasses.
Two showers for the lads and two for the lasses.
Mr Goodwin came out and hung a washing line for the young people to dry their sodden clothes after walking all day and supplied pegs too. They were brill! thank you!
No shops or pub near by if you needed to buy food. You'd have to take a car.
Area ace for walking. Surrounded by footpaths
Recommended. We'll be back

Stayed for one night and found the site ideal; peaceful with everything clean but basic, all that you need. The ground was soft which made pegging out easy. Hulme end is a walk over fields for about one mile. If following the path, you pass near the farm house. In the village is the manifold trail and visitors centre and the Tissington trail is easily accessible in Hartington.

Just got back from Wallbrook House Camp Site after spending one night there and have to say it was absolutely idyllic. It's a no frills camp site with just a toilet block, shower block and washing up area which are all basic, but new and clean (what more do you need?).
The lady of the house was lovely and made us feel very welcome and free to come and go as we please. You could select your own pitch, which was in a large mainly flat field with beautiful panoramic views. We selected a large corner of the field near to the house and just a word of caution found the ground to be very very soft and struggled to get our vehicle out in the morning. However, that was our choice I don't think the whole field was like that but we still loved it where we were as we had the whole corner to ourselves and it was so peaceful. There were only 2 tourer caravans and 5 tents including ourselves which for the time of year was perfect for us as we love the solitude and peacefulness of a quiet campsite.
You feel as though you are literally in the middle of nowhere, however Hulme End village (which consists of a pub, village shop, couple of houses and 2 x campsites) is just about a mile away. Easily enough to walk to even if you're out of shape like us! And what a glorious walk it is as the scenery is so beautiful. The pub is lovely, friendly staff, looked like good food, quite an extensive menu although we didn't eat there ourselves. The village of Longmor is about 3.5 miles away, which is a picturesque quaint little place which we will visit next time we stay there.
We would definitely recommend this site to anyone looking for peace, tranquility and beautiful scenery. We will definitely be going back soon.
Just to let you know, if using sat nav, it directs you to a couple of remote farms (this not only happened to us but the lady campsite owner says it happens all the time to people). So if this happens to you, turn around in the farm yard and go back to the top, turn left, next left then next left again and the campsite is approximately 0.25 miles on the left. There is a sign on the road and a sign at Hulme End village but it just says Camping and Caravan Club new site and doesn't give the name which threw us a little as this site isn't even advertised as a Camping and Caravan club site so we didn't follow the signs at first!

We have just returned from a great night at this quite well kept campsite, the field was flat with lovely views the facilities are basic but new and clean. The owner was friendly and helpful, a bargain at £4 per person. We walked about a mile to Hulme End to the Manifold pub which served very good food, we looked at the 2 campsites near the pub which were very busy and were glad we were camping at this site.
