More of a pub than a campsite and most probably looks a bit better in the summer months, shower, toilets are ok'ish.
The hook ups are all squashed in and are very close to the pub.
The owners of the Golden Swan are really nice, helpful and the pub grub very good but very disappointing with cigarette buts every where outside.
A nice oldie worldie village with a short walk to the canal.

We loved this site. It's flat for a start although it's a field so not bowling green quality. It's very dog friendly and the facilities are perfectly clean and adequate if you stop over when it's quite quiet.
The canal is a short walk away and it's possible to park in the lane next to it and there are plenty of putting in places if you want to go for a paddle.
In Pewsey, a couple of miles away, there's a Spar, a larger Co-op, a bakery, Lloyd's bank and a very good knitting shop. I can recommend the tea and toasted tea cake in Pewsey Community Craft and Tea Room.
Devizes is a short drive away as are Avebury and Marlborough.
All in all a cracking little campsite - long may it continue.
The Golden Swan itself serves first rate food at very reasonable rates, good cask ales and scrumpy. Excellent.

Lovely campsite in a wonderful location. Facilities are limited and simple so wouldn't like to be there when crowded.
Field is very flat which good but the mowing left lots of grass cuttings about which got everywhere. Could be improved.
Pub severed good reasonably priced meals and had a good selection of real ale which were well kept.
Acid test, would I visit again? Certainly, though I would try to avoid busy bank holiday weekends. (However, that's the same for all small campsites)

Excellent little place to stay. Idyllic scenery excellent food. Tucked out the way The Golden Swan is a ideal campsite for those who want peace and quiet. The food is really good with large portions.
The staff are all pleasant and friendly with a relaxed but business like attitude. The campsite is basic but works well there are a few electrical hook ups if you need them. We will definitely return here again and that is a recommendation in itself. Also Dog Friendly

Looking back at the reviews over the past 12 months I can only echo all the plus points mentioned.
The site has only 2 electric hook ups but for the size of the field I hope that investment in more hook ups is planed.
As for the landlord, landlady and helpful son all I can say is that they were charming, helpful and very friendly.
The landlady cooks food beautifully and the selection on the menu is good. Are you a big eater, I am, well prepare for a banquet rather than just a meal - there was so much I nearly had to give up but I didn't, enjoyed every scrap.
The landlord assisted by the son are cheerful and know how to look after their beers and customers.
A gem of a site set in a wonderful village.
I cannot recommend this place more highly.

I would love to be able to say that this is an awful site just to keep others away but I won't because it isn't. This is a little gem of a site, not the prettiest nor the best appointed but a little cracker for all that. Facilities are somewhat limited with only one shower to serve the site but I understand that there are plans in hand to improve on the facilities in the near future. It is worth walking the site before driving on to the field as there are patches that can be distinctly boggy and ready to trap the unwary driver after heavy rain, checking with the staff first is advised.
The pub itself is a little cracker, picture postcard perfect on the outside and warm and welcoming inside. It is also dog friendly which for us is a big plus point. The beer is as good as it gets and the food is absolutely first class with not a catering pack or microwave instant meal to be seen anywhere.
Will we be back? Yes. Next month.

Stopped at this site for one night. Rang the pub in advance and were told to just turn up so we did. On arrival at the site we noticed ity was fairly busy so we decided on a quiet spot down the bottom of the field. We set up camp and an hour later we were sat eating our food we had just cooked on the barbecue when the owner appeared and told us we were not allowed to pitch the motorhome where we were as it was against their policy so we had to move to the top of the field. The owner was a nice chap and allowed us to finish our meal but the upheaval of moving everything was quite annoying. Some signs here would resolve this quite easily as well as info on the website etc. I'm sure many others have been caught out here. What made it worse was after moving we had a group of youngsters hitting the motorhome with their football. There isnt much for kids to do!
As mentioned in a previous review there is no where near enough facilities to cater for the amount of campers that turn up. Basic toilet block and shower.
Overall the site itself is in a nice location with the added bonus of the pub which offers good food and beers at fair prices. The canal is close by which has towpaths and the countryside is very nice. The price to camp is good but be advised on the limited shower facilities.

Just returned after a week at The Golden Swan, a Lilliput Lane thatched pub serving superb cask-conditioned beer at reasonable prices (about £2-80 per pint) and exceptionally good food freshly prepared.
As others have said, the facilities could be overstretched if the campsite were busy (as was the case on the Friday & Saturday nights) but to be fair there were three separate birthday gatherings going on - you can't begrudge the landlord the chance to make money.
Can't recommend the place highly enough - straight in to our Favourite Pub Sites list; near the top too!

Spent 3 nights here during the best weekend of the year so far! Lovely flat field with electric for a couple of units, you need to park near the barn for these but that's not a problem. The pub is really quaint and the village itself is very 'chocolate box' - probably one of the prettiest villages I've seen. The pub landlord was very friendly and helpful - we had booked in advance. At £10 per electric pitch it was very good value too. The pub serves nice food at very good prices, and serves a lovely pint of scrumpy, the best I have ever had. Pub and site dog friendly too.
The only downside is that there is only 1 shower (mixed sex), which obviously gets very busy when the site is well used as it was when we visited. We were OK because we had our own facilities. The shower is cleaned, but obviously does get a bit grubby if people cant be bothered to leave it tidy after they have used it. The ladies toilet was always clean, with toilet paper, hot water and soap and paper towels.
This is a really nice little site in lovely surroundings. Will definitely return.

Stayed for one night in the campsite which is a big field attached to the Golden Swan. The relatively new wash room contains one shower and a hand basin and the toilet block appears to be shared with the pub. However it is clean and as I was the only person on the campsite it wasn't a problem. However it might be an issue if the site was full.
The hosts were very friendly and showed me where to park and provided the necessary electric cable for the hook up. The camp site has lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The Golden Swan is very dog friendly and serves a good range of food and beer at decent prices.
There are lots of walks and the Kennet and Avon Canal is closeby. Pewsey is just over a mile away with a range of shops and pubs.
